THE GAME IS AFOOT!

http://rememberingeva.com/reconstruction.html

seems it's another 'audio tour' in which we experience the timeline of events leading up to Eva's disappearance. ooh i can't wait!
Part of me wants to wait for my friends to become available for this but part of me wants to go later today!

*looks at the map* oh man this'll be interesting. this might need more than one trip...

also, under the archive link there's a 'still missing artifacts' section

Quote:
These archives (both the digital one here and the physical one at the Preliger Library) are not complete. There have been several mentions of some sort of cassette tape or demo tape that has gone missing. If you know anything about this or have any other relevant artifacts that you would like to share, please get in contact with me, kelvinwilliamsSPLATmail.org.

*giddy*

completion

All of us will buy the ticket for this ride, and I think Kelvin will get responses on the mix tape soon.

And it is a good ride. Be prepared to sweat, especially on sunshiny days like today.

The stone wall was puzzling.

wow you finished already? damn.

tell me, did you have to bring a laptop along with you for the second page or were you able to do that after finishing the first page? is there wi-fi around that area?

also i just noticed that Kelvin made good on his promise and that the entire Eva archive is available to view on the new website (so no need to sneakily PM files to eachother) I'd still highly recommend you see it yourself though.

Mansard flight of fancy.

RE: Journal.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

There was a bit in the journal about "1903" and this date being important or stressed etc. I was poking around and this photo

http://www.imagekind.com/showartwork.aspx?imid=41f1cc70-29f8-489c-a6eb-35d249e9161d

Hit me in the face like a face-hitting thing, because look at that roof on the middle-ish building. It looks like 580's roof. And it was also on Kearny, but closer to Market. This link

http://www.sfimages.com/history/Downtown-Market.html

indicates that it was the Mutual Bank building. How'd it do in the quake/fire?

http://www.alamedainfo.com/San_Francisco_PC_46.jpg

It survived!

http://www.history.army.mil/documents/sfearthquake/1906earthquake.htm

No it didn't! So a bunch of decades zip by, then Philip Johnson & John Burgee top off their new building with an echo of the past. Or maybe it's a TODAL coincidence. That is always possible. Probably not.

Oh, and the punchline ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mansard_roof

"At a time when French houses were taxed by the number of floors below the roof, this feature had the added benefit of exempting the upper floor from taxation."

THE MISSING FLOOR

well, looking at page two, it says to "watch now" I'm guessing it's referring to a movie on the webpage you get from visiting the location.

It seems a web book or something to that extent would be a smart thing to bring along.

Returning to the tower soon

So, months ago you'll recall that Bryce and I spent a long afternoon traipsing around the area surrounding Coit Tower, finding nothing pointing to EPWA, Eva, or anything else of note (Eva's police report had just been published by Kelvin leading me on this goose chase). I did note the terrific garden with the parking meter, and other spots of possible future interest.

So strange to see all of those places now, finally, fitted into the story. I haven't gotten to go through the map yet, but will definitely be spending some time this weekend climbing both the Greenwich and Filbert steps to see the locations of Eva's "last" night. Glad y'all are getting to see these spots, too, 'cause nonchalance or no nonchalance, they are grand!

Mansard Roofs

Nice idea there. Unfortunately there are Mansard roofs all over the city... very popular style in San Francisco around the turn of the century. Several of them in the financial district, plus even the Beaux Arts buildings like the Opera House and such have semi-mansard roofs.

Take the Greenwich steps, not Filbert...otherwise you'll have to make an extra trip!

of course, it is purty, so that wouldn't be so bad.

Mansard.

Oh rats. Thanks for that, JTony, I'll have to sharpen my eyeballs a bit.

finished the reconstruction yesterday with friends. You don't need to view the videos as you find the clues that lead you to them. they're supplemental except for the very last one which is preceded by an equally important video...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the names of the videos Beth 'hid' and the names they're posted under are all titled with numbers. I don't know if these numbers will come in handy later but here they are:

critters:
video title: 1196438
author: 8793335

estate:
video title: 4439856
author: 3754972

particles:
video title: 8954843
author: 5877284

savants:
video title: 7833485
author: 5678829

eva:
video title: 5835863
author: 6948276

the last video is embedded in a flash player on the site and the file being recalled is MIXTAPE2 .

does anyone know what the '8 ='means on the last clue?
