Micro ARG

Hey everyone. I'm very new to all of this but I have an idea for a really short trial ARG. Just a couple of puzzles mainly story based and possibly leading to a sequel depending on the support I get for it and how much time I have. Just wondering how players would feel about getting involved in a story and then having it end quite quickly (I'm talking like a week or two of actual gameplay depending on the time it takes for puzzles to be solved). Any thoughts from the experts?

I think that you would get a lot of players immediately from any decent trailhead. If your storyline and concept is good then you will get a number of really creative people interested. If your puzzles are a little bit more challenging then you will get a few additional puzzle solvers interested.

But, if you decide to end your story without much closure and leave your audience hanging then you may receive a lot of negative feedback regarding your 'trial'. there may also be a bit of backlash from your community as players may not want to participate in any of your future endeavors for fear of them ending up the same way.

Your storyline, as short as it may be, should stand on it's own. Any story worth it's merit will be able to grab and hold it's audience. You shouldn't have to create content for a year long project if you are just trying to get your feet wet as a Puppetmaster.
