I'm guessing much of this ARG will be based on the interactive stuff here.

Guess I should be thankful I didn't choose the name "Shadow War" myself (I almost did)... Rolling Eyes

Fun. Kind of interesting, but I haven't read any Young Bond books, so I won't be much help.

(still in though)

Usually they say "thanks for registering" but this one, I signed up and it said "Thank you for your email address. We'll be in touch." Kinda strange way to put it, like they are snacking on email addresses or something.

Quoting ARGN, this will be horribly boring:

While the Shadow War is intended for children 9 years and older, the young at heart are still permitted to play.

The game is comprised of seven missions spanning seven weeks, culminating in a live event on October 8th with a live event featuring Charlie Higson, allowing players to ask questions and influence the game. Each mission takes about an hour, and allows players to work as a British SIS agent or a Soviet OGPU spy, exploring familiar locations. Player decisions will directly influence the outcome of the game. Players can join and leave at any point, and can even switch sides if they choose to defect.

Gregoryn95: I don't think that difficulty or time invested necessarily equates fun -- so while this may not be as involved as some of the other games out there, it could still be cool. The description of this game seems strikingly similar to "We Love Stories", and that was pretty cool.

It's not that, it's just, if it culminates in a live event where all you do is ask questions that somehow change the end although....it's ALREADY the end, methinks that's somewhat lacking.

Just wanted to add that I've signed up for this (though in pre-game I'm having an internal battle over deciding whether I want to be an MI or a Russian spy). But I love all things Bond related so this should be great (especially while waiting for the Quantum of Solace).

Ed Book Fest

Hoorah! I won a couple of tickets from the Big Issue to go to see Higson's talk at the book festival today, where according to the press-release the first mission will be launched. Smile

I'll report back with what goes on.

The ARG has landed. You should have received an email, which leads to a letter that says:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Dearest,

I do hope you're well!

I know you always used to get bored so easily, so I've sent you some clippings from the local paper that caught my eye. I think there's something not quite right about them...

Perhaps you can have some fun investigating?

Missing you terribly,

Your loving aunt

On the right is a clipping that leads to a soviet site. You join up, and then they give you missions.
