Hmm... anyone else see that the main floor floor plan lists the square footage for three rooms (study, library, ladies room)...i find that a little odd that they would be listed... there has to be significance in that...

Okay so my thoughts,
5 red queen chess pieces were found in the rec room, and 2 more were found in the reception area. The words found written in the rec room ceiling in blood

Quote:
So many monarchs, so little space! Half of them are truant, that you can see: you must bring them together to be free! The small space will make them frightful, but you mustn't let them fight! We don't want blood all over the place!

I think that we have to find the Kings that go with them (maybe?) I don't know if the number of them coincides with the number of players, or maybe the number of Queens to be found equals the number of girls playing and the number of Kings to be found equals the number of guys playing, maybe it's irrelevant. I'm sure there is more to the passage then just that (and I may be totally off base so far) but that's all I got.

Also dolls eyes were found, one (brown) one in the rec room, and one in the library, I'm not sure what that's all about, maybe symbolic of "being watched" or something, I don't know it's late and I'm on a sugar high lol.

I'm thinking, maybe find all the queens, (10 maybe if 5 are there, then 5 missing?) And set them up on a chessboard so that none of them can attack each other?

I forgot to ask what color my eye is, i'm playing paranoid, hehe, i'm convinced in the game one of you is behind this after Sin's outburst.

I also found a doll's eye in the Pool Room. As well as this note in the library under the table: "What tormented me most was my momentary inability to feel that my surroundings were a dream." It was written in fine red ink and is a Lovecraft quote (a favorite of the landlord). I know Shylilembrace found Al Aziz in the library; it was also in the library in part one and is another Lovecraft reference.

At this point I'm still just gathering information as I move along. I'll keep an eye out for a chessboard, kings or queens tomorrow.

Okay, here's a thought.

On the off chance that the key pieces are used for more than just the rooms, I'm thinking we should all meet up in a room downstairs, possibly the rec room, and pool all the key pieces, like say, all on a table, then everyone take the pieces they're "supposed to have" and put them together.

I think, that's a good idea. I am on my way downstairs anyway, because I tried to have a look at the third floor first, because I am a little way behind everyone, but

Quote:
The third floor is inexplicably missing. However, you do find a door to the forth floor, but it is locked.

and I haven't found a way to open the door yet.

Is everybody out of their rooms, the people from the fifht floor, too and able to go to the first floor?

The reason I thought the Kings were missing was because of this-
Quote:
Half of them are truant, that you can see

if it was Queens we're supposed to find it wouldn't say "that you can see" because it wouldn't be immediately obvious that more Queens were missing. It is obvious that the Kings are missing, that's what led me to that conclusion. But again, could be off base.

Ya, maybe we should dump all the keys on a table in the reception area (the rec room just has chess board tables it seems), I'm not convinced that they are for something else though, but it would be good to keep them all together just in case Smile

I have one of the Queens. It was found in Room 279.

Along with something a bit disturbing:

Quote:
The main room of 279 seems relatively normal. However, as soon as you approach the bathroom, a rather unpleasant smell wafts from it.

I then Explored the bathroom Finding:

Quote:
You slowly make your way towards the bathroom. You find the former occupant of the room, sprawled out on the bathroom floor, in their pajamas. Blunt force trauma to the head seems to have done them in.

Scattered around them are their key fragments, as well as a chess piece--a red queen.

Awesome.
Part of my last response was to go in and check that room, at least for the window.

Funny. I actually sniffed at one of the holes in my room earlier.

Must have been to Aki's room, since it was the one that magically appeared in my closet.

But then again, looking at a few of the posts here, some people have been displaced, busting through a wall, but coming into the opposite side of the room they busted into.

Hmmmm.

Anyways, if ya wanna poke the body, I have an old wire hangar we can use as a stick. Mr. Green

EDIT:
Thinking about it, maybe a few of the rooms are turned around to opposite what they are in the floor plan? Like whoever appeared on the opposite side of the room they busted into, maybe one of the doors there opens up into a bottomless abbyss or something.

SON OF EDIT:
The third floor is missing? Was the fourth floor labeled as fourth?
Was there just not a door to the third or did it just go straight from five to four to two to one?

EDIT: THE RETURN:
Might not mean anything, but I looked up some stuff and found this.

EDIT: THE FINAL SHOWDOWN:
Look alive people, Landlord's back.

EDIT: THE RECKONING:
Quote:
You relay your thoughts to the others in the hall, and duck into 279.

You cannot help but note the stench of death as you pass by the bathroom on your way to the window. It is darker then pitch on the opposite side of the glass.

Hmmm.

Also, maybe I should make a new post....

Has anyone checked the dead person's pockets? Maybe there might be some identifying information in the pockets of their pyjamas.

I'll head into the foyer. I'd been checking each bookshelf in the library, one at at time because something about the answers I'm getting is telling me there's a clue to be found. I can smell it!

Doing so now.

Also checked the closet in 279, checking for possible assailants:
Quote:
You stare into the darkness for a while longer. It is heavy, and almost beckons you. You think you possibly, maybe make out the walls of a hallway further into the abyss, but then again -- it's all black...

Finally peeling yourself away, you manage to shut the closet doors...and then return to the bathroom, to poke the body with your wire hanger stick.

It reacts like a dead body ought to. That is, it does nothing.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have Journal!

Quote:
Haphazardly tilting the body with your wire hanger-stick, you note that something rectangular is underneath it...miraculously spared from soaking up the blood from the aforementioned puddle. Reaching under the body, you manage to nab it before rushing out of the bathroom.

In the main room of 279, you fill your lungs with sweet, clean air...well, cleaner than the air in the bathroom.

Examining the object, you note that it appears to be a journal.

Someone wants to kill us! [queue spooky music]

I found this in a unmarked volume in the library:

Quote:
Scanning the pages, you are shocked to find a list of names. Some familiar, some note...seems to be someone's book of plans.

There are a host of people's names listed, such as Andrea, Nuala, Illy, Sin, Hal, Fish, Will, Kale, Daisy, etcetera...

Followed by things like, "to be crushed by chandelier", or "to be burned in brazen bull", or "to be drowned".
