BBC and Endemol form cross-platform partnership

The BBC is to partner with Endemol to create a cross-platform strategy for its forthcoming programme 'Around Britannia', reports Suzanne Bearne at mipcom.

Speaking at mipcom, Peter Cowley, MD of digital media at Endemol, revealed that the programme, set in the future and focusing on moral choices, will involve gaming, online and TV...

The content, which aims to "create fun for the whole nation", will launch with an alternate reality game (ARG) that will be "core to the show".

Cowley said the game will be led by actors who create fictional events in the real world, along with casual games exploring surveillance.

The programme will also include an online element, called Citizen Britain, which will be presented as current affairs and will be rolled out across other platforms.

Cowley also revealed plans to launch a video game for the programme '1 vs 100', in which one person competes against 100 others to win prizes, on Microsoft's Xbox as a downloadable game next year.

"Games are being used online to unlock drama online and to drive video views. The 'Deal or No Deal' game is about getting a community playing together," he said.

I can't seem to find anything on what "Around Britania" will actually be about though.
