Just got back from the San Diego drop.

I was walking down to the park to meet up with Celina and Scaurus when my friend texted me and said I was headed in the wrong direction. Since I neglected to find out WHERE in the park they would be, I turned around and ran for my car... figured they'd hit the road before I found them =)

The actual drop wasn't far from there. I showed up just after they opened it, so I don't know much about what happened. They passed me a couple bills and we went our separate ways.

Wish I'd had more of a chance to chat with ya'll! I'd be down for lunch before the next drop if anyone's interested. Don't get to talk ARGs all that often Wink

Oh, and I walked away with a Hong Kong 20 and 500 pesos. Checking the serials now.

Tried the serial numbers and got the pretty flash images. Then I tried a regular bill in my wallet and it did it for that one too. So I think they're pretty generic.

Was just about to say:

These are the exact same flash messages that popped up when I entered regular bills months ago. Probably nothing new to get out of checking these, but worth trying anyhow.

Yeah, it was still fun to watch anyway.

Well it was pretty fun - felt like a regular sleuth with my laptop guiding the way. My wife kept giving me 'this is crazy' glances as we drove down the road from Balboa park, where we had staked out 20 minutes prior to the drop. Got to the light for Spanish Landing (red of course, damn San Diego) when out of the corner of my eye I see this wide-eyed, crazy woman waving at me from the car in front of us. We both zoomed into the park parking lot as soon as the light turned green. Since I was driving, I kicked my wife out of the car (actually she volunteered - she had already spotted the lock from the road!) and rushed off to find parking. By the time I was out of the car with my son, Celina and my wife had already identified the lock.

Took a little jiggling and prodding to get the lock open, and like others have reported, the cash was jam packed in there. I ended up lending my hand (and car keys) in prying the stuff out, after Celina annihilated the 20 US and nipped a couple other bills Wink

At any rate, we ended up with a rather paltry sum - I think the lowest so far? But, for a first real 'ARG experience' for me, it was awesome fun.

It was great to meet both you, post, and celina, and we'll definitely have to arrange some more time. I had to jet though - my son was going to get cranky, and we still had to run some errands Very Happy

Wait wait wait...

What are the amounts being discovered? They seem to be all different and experience says that this might not be so random.

What PostLarval and Scaurus said - plus some photos!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/banshee1013/sets/72157612572112687/

I agree with ndemeter - a tally of all bills acquired may possibly be another clue.

Here's the take from the 1st SD drop:
$20 US
$20 AUS x 2
$10 Hong Kong x2
$20 Bank of Shanghai
500 Pesos
50 Rubles

Total worth at today's exchange rate = approx. $87

Definitely would be super fun to hang out with you guys more next time! It's faboo to finally have more ARGers in ol' Sandy Eggo Smile

ETA: Just in case it matters, here are the SNs of the bills in my possession:
$20 US - EF03771120A
$20 AUS - EH 05864442
$10 HK - BV431374

In case this is needed, here's what we got from the Austin drop (and US equivalents):

150 Hong Kong dollars = $19
40 Canadian dollars = $31
250 Mexican pesos = $18
500 Russian roubles = $15
$100 US

Ok, since we're giving totals...L.A. was...a lot. I THINK this is accurate, since it was divided three ways...

US$ - $300
AUS$ - $60
Mexican Peso - $1000
British Pound - $50?
Canadian$ - $60

Total American? Over $500...

Hi gang! Sorry for the lack of posting last night but a slight family matter caused Dr. Girlfriend and I to take a slight detour after the drop. So here's my two cents on the matter.

The world of fantasy international espionage is wicked profitable. The drop was fun, and we seriously lucked out by picking a Denny's 8 miles away to set up shop. Many thanks to Robbie for being our eyes online. I will definitely being sitting out the next drop so that other UF fans can get in on the action, so I would be happy to return the favor to anyone that goes in two weeks.

So as far as our take, here is a list of what Dr. Girlfriend and I each took home complete with serial numbers for your tracking enjoyment:

Me
1 x US $100 (AJ76269096)
1 X British 20 Pound Note, or ~$29.70 US (AA34006964)
1 x Canadian $20, or ~$16.03 US (EZE4279735)

Total = ~ $145.73

Dr. Girlfriend
1 x US $100 (CB45544109E)
1 x Canadian $20, or ~$16.03 US (ARE6671612)
1 x Mexican 500 Peso, or ~$35.86 US (C1300586)

Total = ~ $151.89

So that alone puts us real close to $300 US. Add Faeryqueen's take, which I think was identical to Dr. Girlfriend's take, and you have a drop that was worth every minute of L.A. traffic.

There is one more point of interest that may be nothing, but just incase here it is. The 20 Pound Note has the name "Paul" written on the back and underlined twice. It may be nothing other than some dude saying "hello, I am Paul" through currency, but should it come up in the future I have officially stated it for the record.
