There was the question of what a lot of us were going to do with the cash we found and while I was kidding about going on a bender I wonder if the serial numbers might tell us something. Is anyone thinking this or should I exchange the money? I haven't been following this ARG but I wasn't sure if there were any Madison, WI that follow these things to make the pickup. Please advise.

I'm curiouse as to what everyone is doing with the money that is found???

After thoroughly inspecting the bills (blacklight, etc.) I deposited them at the bank.
Serial numbers would be the only real usable element from them and I posted those, already. It was interesting watching the girl at the bank look up the bills in her catalog.

Salt Lake has sketchy places?! I didn't think that was allowed there.

Yeah, it was in a park where ALL the homeless people in Utah unite. Its like a mini hooverville. But, I got my brother to come with me and it was a success. No stabbings!

I would have like to meet up with other Portland peeps. Danielquasar and I had arranged to meet at the location. I wish you had spoken up. Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil Sad

Sorry about that! I would have waited around normally but I had to run back to work before they found out i left!

At first I was kinda pissed hearing that a forum member took off with it knowing others wanted to take part as well but I understand the job situation.

Darn though, I really could've used a chunk of cash right now. Razz But you got there first with a time constraint so no harm done. Sad It was fun while it lasted.

Same thing happened in NY. I posted on the board last night I was going for the drop and any NYers please PM me to meet up. He posted here today that he grabbed the drop. He walked by me with the lock at the drop while he was on the phone, I called out "hey dude with the lock!", he kept walking and I didnt chase him down because he had the lock so I assumed he was with the promo company.

He's 17 years old (in violation of the sweepstakes rules) and probably living comfortably with his parents. Meanwhile my boyfriend and I live together and he's been out of work for 8 months due to the crappy economy, we could have really used that dough for I don't know, our heating bill perhaps?

I still feel a bit bad that I didnt run into anyone else, especially since it looks like other players were all over that park that were there before me and right after. I was there at about 1:30 and i didnt see any other players around.

Only person of note was the guy that looked to be dressed as a street person...sort of, clothes too clean and new with a niceish backpack, leaning up against the rail not that naturally, with a cellphone that looked out of place nice. saw him again as i left a block away lookin a bit suspicious. but anyway could just be paranoid.

more specifics about the bills.

three $20 US bills EK02570655B, EB47223143F, IE60585362C
500 Peso bill A0916825
100 Australia FG99943541
500 Norway 07002005
20 Canada EYY2299775

Of note, the Canada bill had MUT written on the front.

One:
I obviously missed your post on the forums. Sue me.

Two:
You already admitted that when I walked by you, I was on the phone, so it makes sense that I would not have heard you yelling at me.

Three:
The legal age limit for the CAR SWEEPSTAKES is 18. The regular game is open to everyone.

Four:
I am sorry about your current financial situation, but that does not mean that I intentionally tried to hurt you. Oh and thanks for your little stereotypical assumptions about my life. Did you ever consider that I might have needed that money just as badly?

And finally, Five: Nobody likes a sore loser. I got there first, I took the money, end of story. Cant we just drop this petty dispute and move on?

Please?

Here's hoping for another Portland drop but I doubt it cause the sweepstakes ends on the 31st I believe so I assume the game ends then too.

@YourGuide, I know you're new here. So, welcome! If you stick around long enough, you'll find out just how wonderful of a community UnFiction is. We're always up for helping each other out, a lot of times, even in real world/non-game situations. We make real friends here whether on or off-line.

So like cyphertext said, it would be great if you could move past your perceived loss and find a sense of companionship here.

And I know that this particular game drew a lot more non-uFers into it, since shouting "FREE MONEY" is always a good way to draw people out of the woodwork. So to all the newcommers, money isn't what this is supposed to be about. For uF, it's about the game and about having fun. A lot of us would have been out in that snow and rain if it were just little slips of clue covered paper in the locks. (Actually there's a likelyhood that we would have called up every son of our third-cousin's so-so friend from highschool, if we thought that we could get our hands on the next piece of an in-game puzzle.)

So, if you really think about it, yeah the top monetary amount given out here was about $500, which is indeed real nice to help some payments if you need it. But it's not a huge amount and in day to day life will actually go quite quickly. However, if you make a really good friend here, the next time your company downsizes and you're about to lose your house because there aren't any jobs out there to find...the money will be long gone, but the good friends may just rally together and save your sorry butt. Cool
[/rant]

That said, Go our European friends!! Very Happy
Paris, Rome, and Madrid open now. And way to go London and Berlin for being on the ball.

One: Your first response is rude and stinks of being a sore winner. I am a new member of this board, instead of being selfish and just going for it, I posted on this board obviously willing to share with people in a community I had just joined. You came here the minute you picked up, it's not too far a guess to think just like other participants you popped by last night and yesterday morning for updates.

Two: You couldnt have been more than 10 feet in front of me when I yelled to you, you actually walked faster after I yelled.

Three: You're 17 years old, I dont know any 17 year olds that *need* money for anything other than video games and concert tickets. Again, I'm pretty sure you live with your parents and honestly, whether we *need* the money more than you is irrelevant. It was more about the spirit of the game.

Four: See #3

Five: Again rude and shows your age and maturity. You're right, you took the money, end of story. Just remember though, I know exactly what you look like and the next time there is a NY drop for another contest and I get there first, I will be willing to share with everyone on site except you. The spirit of these games is building a community, your attitude was everyman is himself. Post #1 also applies here.

But yes, lets drop this petty dispute. Rolling Eyes

Or, you know. Not.

Guess, I was trying to be a little too nice there. The Curse of uF.

Hey, yourguide. You really are being a sore loser. So it would be really great if you could stop verbally attacking cyphertext. Or at least take it to PMs so that the game can continue.

Hey - managed to grab the second London one, inside was:

40 pounds
20 euros
10 dollars
1000 yen

all in all that's about £70

Apologies to coglect! I'd already been out and come back by the time I got your PM, sorry if you got all the way there to find it empty... Sad
