If your updates are protected, yes. Otherwise, he can simply click over to your profile to see what you're saying. Smile

It seems strange to me. Usually, twitter is used to connect with others not just to make random comments to 79 people. Perhaps important information will be conveyed, or we'll just learn a bit more about one person's eating habits in Milwaukee. Laughing

Heh! Yeah, there's that possibility BUT we have already learned that there are some public schools surviving in the area, and that Mike is awfully depressed (maybe getting fired because of the Handbook thing?), so it's quite possible more will be released as things progress.. Also, WhatChuckEats, according to the wikibruce for TIMM is a Twitter registered under Russo's email - has anyone already mentioned this?

I found that twitter account yesterday by adding all of the @thisismymilwaukee.com emails to my webmail address book and using Twitter's Find People function. Added it to the wiki last night.

Sometimes I get the feeling these guys are just making it up as they go along. Wink

Aha! So it was yooouuu. Clever. But I'm almost certain you're right, actually XD It seems to be a lot of ad-libbing and I think someone over at the SA board mentioned it being possible that they just started with one video for the hell of it and then made up all this other stuff as they went along because people caught on?

I mentioned the twitter thing on #milwaukee but not on the forum. How rude of me.

Anyway, as far as ad-libbing goes, there is some evidence in DNS to the point that this has been planned for a long time at least as far as the domain name goes.

The SOA record (Start Of Authority) for thisismymilwaukee.com has the serial number as 2008081002, which means August 10th, this file was edited twice.

You can use one of those online dns checker utilities to find out this infomation, or if you have Mac OS or Linux, you can use host or dig.

Code:

$ dig -t soa thisismymilwaukee.com @4.2.2.1

; <<>> DiG 9.4.2-P2 <<t>>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 1030

Soooo... This being my first ARG, I'm not sure if this is allowed in-game, but there appears to be an open, unencrypted FTP server running at thisismymilwaukee.com

I haven't played with it much, but it looks like valid user names are all of the e-mail addresses we've seen so far. And, 2 users are currently logged on - but who knows which ones.

EDIT: Any user name that isn't anonymous is valid...

If this is OOG, I'll forget I ever saw it.

Connected to thisismymilwaukee.com.

That's funny. I tried this a few days ago, and it wasn't accessible at all. I think it's still "in game", as they suggested we "take a closer look" at the site...

A friend of mine called - Todd, I think? And got this message:

Quote:
"Our team leadership summit has been postponed indefinitely while we spray for mold and rats. we must be out fo a dip because we swam right by your call. For calls relating to the Milwaukee Tourism Board, call Mike Russo at (gives number) for all other inquiries please stay on the line. Shu dwi (or dwa?) ya mei? Wo cang" and then it transfers to the desk of Michael Lewis

We're not sure on the exactness of the Chinese at the end, but Wo cang seems to mean "to harbor" or "to shelter," so maybe some kind of warning to stay safe? Does anyone know what that bit is/has anyone already covered this? (Sorry guys, 77 pages is a lot to go through)[/quote]

Maybe. The site is hosted on a shared host and it's not uncommon for those to have ftp open for admin. It also looks like the default behavior of the ftp server is to say 'ok' to any username versus bouncing you at that point if it's not valid. 'foo' returns the same ok on username.

But if you're saying it wasn't responding before and suddenly appeared, well, that's another thing.

The other password clue we had revolved around the flickr account but it was that the other MTC members didn't know the password of the account holder so they could remove the book images. Finding that might grant ingress.

Interesting translation, kyuurijanaidesu, because haven, from the book title Milwaukee: A Reasonable Haven, also means harbor or shelter.

That's right! Hm. I wonder what the rest of it means, then..?

Don't know if this was mentioned yet but Lipps Leroux and Mars Madison both made facebook accounts. Lipps also made a group called "Young Professionals of Milwaukee"
