Beautiful! I've been trying to read through all 77 pages to get caught up - can someone give me a brief update as to where we're at, what we're waiting for?

I've added the Twitter accounts that were found (waiting for authorization on one), as well as added the Facebook accounts and joined the Milwaukee group.

Currently, everyone has been working on finding clues in the booklet many of us received via email.

First ARG, sorry if I'm off base.

Recent discussion speculates if people can move back and then leave again. Also, it's odd young professionals are encouraged to go to the Canning district where the Godseed may or may not be buried? And considering an older couple is pictured when they say it's time to repopulate, teens are especially encouraged, and the family tree may or may not absord/feed the godseed to keep them contained....perhaps if we do bring the new folks in they are specifically there to sustain the fragments, keeping their family trees underground as a buffer from the godseed, living a life of vermouth margaritas and romance, and while the hunger is satisfied by the new bodies, teens can begin the repopulation? Many stabs in the dark here.

Also, I'm in Milwaukee. It's interesting to me that Elsa's on the Park, a real Milwaukee restaurant, is listed in the credits but of course not shown. Elsa's is known for being one of the best cities to get hamBURGERS, especially for out of towners, ESP for NYC celebrities in the past I'm told...I'm going to go check it out tomorrow afternoon. Long shot, since the IRL has been in NYC so far, but I'm not ready to rule it out...any suggestions for behavior, or anyone wanting to come? Of course I will order a hamBURGER...

Here's something that just occurred to me. Not sure if anything will come of it but I thought it was an interesting parallel.

We call all agree that this world that TIMM is similar to many other futuristic societies in science fiction (literature, TV, and films alike). I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before, but it reminds me of Brave New World a little bit.

In Huxley's "Brave New World", the idol that society worships is Henry Ford (the year dated A.F. instead of A.D.). I once read that Huxley came up with this concept after reading a book that Ford wrote.

This is a lot like TIMM's idolization of Voltaire. I know that we don't know for sure if TIMM's Voltaire is supposed to be the famous philosopher or not, but it's still possible they do mean that Voltaire, so bear with me. Perhaps in this world, a copy of Voltaire's "Candide" (or one of his other works) was discovered, and became the basis for what to believe in an how to live; became THE religious text.

Interestingly enough, in the French version of "Brave New World" the title is "Le Meilleur des Mondes" (English translation is "The Best of All Worlds"), which is a phrase the character Dr. Pengloss said in Voltaire's "Candide".

I don't have anywhere else to go with this but I thought they were interesting coincidences.

Anyway i know its been discussed before but piece at the top is clearly not a part of the family tree. It looks like something else entirely. I think this must be relevant to the game, it is even shown colored two different colors in the activity room.

I traced the piece with tracing paper at different rotations (old school i know, i'm not that tech savvy) and tried to make it work with maps, it doesn't seem to be shaped like Milwaukee, Wisconsin, or any of the great lakes. I have not tried it with the in game map. Anyway i was hoping someone else would have an idea. Maybe the colors are important?

sorry i wanted to put pictures in but i have no idea how Sad

I believe that they are Go.S.E.E.D fragments. I have a theory that the family trees are used to capture or hold the fragments. In a phone call with mike russo he mentions that if you are in a safe area, the fragments will go underground when they see people...or something like that, and we all know that family trees are meant to be underground. Plus they just look like the godseed fragments from the video. I really think that godseed fragments/family trees tie into some "alternative" energy source or something along those lines.

The "family tree" I believe has been confirmed as the fennel bulb they call "flax seed" in the video.

My interpretation of the "two parts" of the family tree has been that there is a big bulb bit (the part that gets covered with dirt) and the beginning of a sprout (the upper bit looks like branches extending up, and the "second part" that people have mentioned is actually a cloud of leaves that are attached to the upwards-extending branches...much like a young child would draw a tree as a brown rectangle with a green cloud-shaped chunk of leaves on top).

I mean the thing on top of (being hugged by?) the fennel bulb looks like a godseed fragment. Also did anyone notice in the blackstar no blackstar comic during the credits...The frame where jagoda is eating the food after destroying the shadow thing...there is what looks like a pair of broken glasses in the remains of the destroyed shadow thing. Could it be the worker? Maybe that's been mentioned before I cant remember all 80 pages

Fennel Bulb = Family Tree? Why?

Okay I've been following fairly closely since about Nov. 23rd and I've been seeing plenty of people calling the "fennel bulb" a Family Tree. I've seen plenty of references to the fennel bulb and to a Family Tree but where does it say that these are the same thing? I don't understand why people are saying these are the same.

I can see that the fennel bulb is obviously important to the TIMM society, and I've heard theories that fennel is supposedly an alternate power source.

There are references to Family Trees needing to stay underground. It has also been mentioned that we need to repopulate, and when I talked to Joey today and really pressed him to tell me the year, he told me that "the year isn't important. We're rebuilding and repopulating. It's best to leave the past buried." So from what I can tell, people don't talk about who their ancestors are because there are not a lot of people left and they need to repopulate.

I really don't see a connection between the Fennel Bulb and the Family Tree. Can someone prove me wrong?

From a phone call between mike russo and treg:
Him: Mike Russo, Milwaukee Tourism Commission.

Me: Hey Mike, this the Mike? Nice to call to talk to you. I'm just calling because I uh, I saw some of your video, and right now I'm actually right in the middle of Sunny Milwaukee.

Mike: Oh, that's great. What district are you in?

Me: Well, I was just walking through, I saw signs that said Sector 19, and Sector 20. I'm wondering if there are Class K resistant apartments in Sector 21? Er, there doesn't look like a lot of people are around.

Mike: Well, um, Sector 21 is currently uninhabitable. It is highly contaminated and covered in uh, Godseed fragments.

Me: What? What do you mean? I only watched the uh, the first half of your video.

Mike: (yelling off phone: HE'S IN SECTOR 21! HE'S IN SECTOR 21!) Sector 21 is contaminated. It is highly dangerous, especially for teenagers and anyone younger.

Me: What? Huh? I'm 19. Is that old enough to uh, to be safe?

Mike: (Yelling off phone: HE'S 19 AND HE'S IN SECTOR 21!) Son, listen to me. You're in great danger. You need to, to find the biggest flare gun possible.

Me: A flare gun? What? Where am I going to find a Flare Gun? Listen, I just wanted to move to Milwaukee.

Mike: You're in huge danger, I can send you an Information Packet via email, but there's nothing I can do over the phone that you can't do in real life.

Me: Would it, would it help if I found a fennel?

Mike: (sigh) Son, that's not a fennel, that's a family tree.

Me: Where can I find a fennel, family tree, whatever? I thought I saw some here somewhere.

Mike: Listen, son, I STRONGLY ADVISE you let the family tree remain underground. Do not dig up the family tree.

Me: What happens if I dig up the family tree?

Mike: OH, SURE, DON'T LISTEN TO ME. DON'T LET THE FAMILY TREE STAY UNDERGROUND. DON'T LISTEN TO A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN TELLING YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM SECTOR 21. JUST DO WHATEVER THE F**K YOU WANT.

Me: Why the f**k did you start an advertising campaign for Milwaukee if it's infected? Jesus, help, I'm-

Mike: WELL MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE-

Me: OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT? WHAT IS THAT THING? OH MY GOD OH MY GOD-

Thanks, that clears it up a bit.

Tubbytango here, ready to join in on the fun. You know, it's hard not to formally join p after reading 79 pages in one sitting Razz .

I'll do all I can to be of assistance.

Okay, someone mentioned a while back the video starting at -2:15 min:sec, and that there's a scene change at +2:15, but I didn't see whether anyone followed up on that so I just want to check now. I freezeframed at +2:15 and screencapped it:

Not sure how significant it is... There's a girl walking by in the background, is she in anything else? Chess players? Anyone have any theories?

I watched the chess players scene and I can't see anything that stands out, but the scene before that (Tide advertisement) reminded me of something that has been bothering me for a while. Notice how it says "Spring 2006". It is apparent that in-game characters are familiar with our calendar, yet they prefer to use their own, more complicated, dating system (DOR/TRO/ACT).

Why would Blackstar (or whoever) create their own dating system? Because the existing one wasn't good/precise enough! I believe that my two parallel universes theory explains it quite well. We have two timelines: dormant and active and they overlap. Once Blackstar discovered that the time is non-linear, they had to come up with an appropriate dating system, and implement it in the areas they control. The people from the other areas may be unaware of the fact that two universes exist, so they continue to use old Gregorian calendar. That's why the video uses it for better communication. But the book uses Milwaukee dating system so that potential settlers could learn how to use it.
