Less speculating and more staring at that table on page 27 in "A Reasonable Haven." >_< Rather than coming up with wild guesses based solely off the limited information we have, we should be trying to move things along using what we currently have. I think I'm just venting some frustration because of that dumb table. That red bookmark...how it taunts me...

Ok, from the persepective of a long-time ufer and wikiguy, I'd suggest - don't be afraid of making new threads for specific topics that will garner fruitful discussion. TIMM is still only if CF w/Potential - if it gets big enough, it can get its own forum and sub-categories. No need to feel restricted to 1 or 3 threads.

Wiki: Speculation, IMO, is fine on the wiki, but as mentioned, kept to the Talk: pages - the main pages should contain only facts, references, connections, etc.

There's a "Puzzles" page on the wiki, that imo would be filled with outstanding mysteries and specific puzzles being worked on. Right now, that's pretty much the entire thing Smile so it should probably be kept to tangible puzzles/tasks...

I created a "Beginner's Guide" page that should get updated asap to give a good starting point for people coming in. There's just so much chaotic random information in this crazy thing that, even just reading over the pages from this weekend, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself at how ridiculous all this sounds Laughing. All I picture is someone reading a thread page, watching the video, seeing how "logically" and "realistically" we're all chatting and simply going W...T...F. Very Happy

here's the range of info as I see it:
Wiki page: facts, connections, references
Talk page: sound theories, ideas, a quick location to point people to for what's being discusssed in...
Forum threads: discussion and exploration of theories, research, thoughts, etc

and depending on the nature of a thread, I'd suggest whoever creates it include/update the first post with links, and current info where possible... not always possible, again, depending on the nature of the thread.

And again I stress - don't be afraid of making threads (but try to make it relevent, not just random threads, especially if the subject's already being discussed somewhere productively). Enough threads and activity, and it'll all get moved to its own forum area.

Just some suggestions from my opinion...

nice organizational approach, tb. my only concerns were covered in your comprehensive approach/ post. it would be nice indeed to have more organization to this pursuit. i am also seeing a lot of uninformed posts/ posters arriving on the scene and offering up issues that have been previously discussed.

the way you laid things out here seems very straight-forward and accessible. let's run with this thing. not sure if we are up against a brick wall with the provided information or not, but we need a kick-start to be sure. perhaps a new thread on the table theories would be a place ton start. also the newbie guide you mentioned form the wiki should be started here in my opinion. those two steps along with getting the wiki more fluid and up to date seems like a great plan forn this little lull we.re in just now.

thoughts?

how do we want to present our two or three main schools of thought on the tables pages??? should there be more theories? how many and how many to include in each thread?

nice work, guys!

peace...

Good call / starting point. The first thing that should be decided is what the topics of the first few threads should be. My suggestions would be -
1) Table Theories
2) A Reasonable Haven booklet
3) Video
4) Theories that don't fit into the above categories

Someone probably has better ideas - let's hear 'em. Very Happy

On that note, if there's anything that's been figured out definitively, can those who were involved/know better than I the ins and outs of these add them to the Puzzles section of the wiki? Right now it's looking pretty thin (only the library lead has been included) and could probably use some tidying and additions (if we actually have any). The wiki seems the best place right now to consolidate what we DO have, so that people don't end up reposting already tackled subjects. Perhaps the Puzzles section could be divided into subsections including the two videos, handbook, correspondences and IRL leads to start?

I think, also, we're a little too wary of adding to the wiki XD. So far there's been a LOT covered here but very little updated recently on the wiki itself - we don't have to wait for groundbreaking new updates to do some updating of our own, people! Heh. Anyway, seeing as we're not getting anything new yet it might be a good way to kill some time for the people who are getting bored of waiting to go back through and see if they can't help add on to the wiki pages.

Solid Info

So, maybe rather than putting the new threads in practice - and before we add anything to the wiki - let's figure out what solid facts/info we have. Not the speculations - but the hard facts. Once we've established that we can add it to the wiki or the new threads.

no, these sound pretty good to me, unless we want to break down the tables theories a little further. not sure that's necessary, though. i do think we should include the beginners guide thread discussed by thebruce. i think this is very important, personally. maybe even use his gathered info or hotlink over to the wiki page. might be a good way to "force newcomers to at least see where the wiki is located/ get them curious there before returning here to comment?

we can probably get a minor overhaul of the thread section going pretty quickly here once we get some sound input from some of the peeps who have been involved/ will be involved, etc.

as Syno expressed earlier, we should also get a thread or two going/ re-vamp the conversation pages at this same time. anyone want to spearhead this approach? i've been involved more in speculating/ discussion of ideas rather than the actual questioning of the players. who would be good/ wants to take this on?

c'mom people. now's the time to step up and set this game in motion! our m-rotors have become a bit unseated here it would seem. (sorry about that last bit). don't know where that came from... Confused

I encourage everyone to use the Search function of this forum if you're unsure whether something's been covered before, or not. For your query, I went to Search, selected the CF With Potential forum, and used the search terms "Google" and "511602," as together they would be unique enough to point to that information being mentioned elsewhere, and would likely tell me that it had been discussed before. Anyway, I think using Search will help a lot with the organizational thing -- it's a good tool to use, and will help with newer players feeling more caught up, since they can quickly reference ideas/details with a few quick keywords.

Either way it is worth pointing out that the number pointed out by krystyn is different than the one pointed out by Atropanocturna:

They already realised that a while back, either in this post or in one on SA - it's something to do with Google's search, not TIMM.

Yarrr - I believe it was discussed here, because I haven't read the SA forums on this topic, and I remember the discussion. Smile

Puzzles wiki

I've changed the puzzles page on the TIMM wiki. It's mostly a skeleton, since we don't know much. I've been sparing about what counts as a puzzle and what counts as probable knowledge, since the wiki should be less cluttered than the forum.

I'm very new to all this and really don't know what I'm doing, so if it needs to be modified or deleted, have at it.
