I was wondering about some of those characters. I'm not sure I've seen too much around about some of them. My guess would be either one of them or else the IPT

I'm not a PhotoShop expert, but I deleted 2 color channels & messed with the levels. There are definitely scribbles & lines.

Hate to be a downer for all the people with high hopes about the postcard having stuff on it but I'm holding mine in my hand right now and there is nothing there. Sorry

Yet it's the only thing that hasn't really yielded anything so far, isn't it?

I'm still thinking there's gotta be something to it. I even tried overlaying it with the Long Walk graph, and got nowhere. The graph does begin and end at the same points as the rotor axis - if you flip vertically. Rolling Eyes

it really just looks like various detritus on the scanner bed itself and not anything on the actual postcard.

^ Yes, it could have also been made by someone scribbling on a piece of paper laid atop the post card, leaving a indent that was picked up by the scanner. It would be interesting to compare scans of different peoples postcards to see if the scribble image is on all of them.

I definitely think the postcard is important, but, please don't limit the scope of your interest to the "squiggles" -- as said, I am 99% certain this is a characteristic of the glass pane on my scanner. When I get home I'll scan something else on the bed so you can see for yourselves. <3

Let's take a better look at other aspects of the postcard; wording, layout, the letter/numbers bottom left of the reverse. <3

There's something that just strikes me as odd in the paragraph on the front of the postcard - like either they were just bullshitting and trying to use as many words as possible in order to fill space, or maybe there's a coded message in there of some kind. The way the paragraph is composed sort of reminds me of the Sebald code in the Lemony Snicket books where every tenth word in a piece of correspondence would be part of a coded message, and so they would sort of fill in the blanks between the real message with frivolous and often nonsensical connecting phrases (ones that stick out to me here are "Ring, Ring, Ring!" and "regular Janes and Joes").

I tried the Sebald Code because it is my instinct whenever I see a RING or a BELL.

I love you SO MUCH for also being a Snicket fan; there are so sadly few of us as grownups.

Eeeeeee, you made me so happy <33333333333333

I went and saw Daniel Handler read some Snicket material (and accompany himself on the accordion to the Count Olaf song) back in 2001 in San Francisco, and I was one of maybe 3 adults there who were not there with their own children. Hee.

So, count me in as a fan. Smile

Audentes fortuna iuvat, hombre.

this phrase looks and sounds suspiciously like an anagram. i'd look into it further before posting, but am working on a wicked cold instead, just now.

Quote:
Both the phrases "Audaces fortuna iuvat" and "Fortes fortuna iuvat" are an adaptation of a quotation from Virgil's Aeneid, book X, line 284, where we read:
"Audentes Fortuna iuvat" meaning literally :"Fortune favours the bold".

The only one difference between Virgil's line and "Audaces /Fortes fortuna iuvat" is the use of another adjective (audaces / fortes) instead of "audentes", but the meaning is the same.

In short, "Audentes Fortuna iuvat" and "Audaces fortuna iuvat" mean literally "Fortune favours the bold", while "Fortes fortuna iuvat" means literally "Fortune favours the strong".

As you can see, "Audaces fortuna iuvat" and "Fortes fortuna iuvat" have the same or nearly the same meaning in English, i.e. :
"Fortune favours the bold / the strong".

Have a nice day,
Maria
