I just spoke to Todd as well. The first time I called I got their voicemail recording, which was pretty difficult to make out... but I picked up on the term Champion Dynasty. I called back to listen to the recording again, and attempt a transcription, but got a live representative instead. It really caught me off-guard, and I stumbled a bit, but since Champion Dynasty was fresh on my mind I asked about it. It's actually the Champion Dynasty Defense Fund, set up by Blackstar (if I heard him correctly) to aide in developing other means of protection against the Godseed fragments... because flare guns just don't always do the trick. Apparently they're very worried about the continuing problems that Godseed fragments have caused, and deeply regret that they may not be able to stop their spread.

There was a lot of information in that conversation, and sadly I didn't absorb every bit. Like I said, I was just expecting the choppy voicemail message, so I didn't have a recording device set up or any questions prepared. But the above was the gist of it.

He also made it clear that they prefer phone contact, and took my e-mail down so that he could send me information packets next week. I suggest you all call, and be prepared for a lot info to be thrown at you!

I spent a solid 15 minutes writing down talking points and preparing for a more informed discussion with our friend Todd, but it appears MTC is closed for the weekend. They will be accepting calls again at 9am EST on Monday, but you can still leave a voicemail with your email address.

Aww damn. I did the same, and was just about to call. Seeing as I've already got them typed up, I suppose I'll send a few questions via e-mail and see what happens. And since there's a PO Box, I'll shoot off a letter too.

There are a TON of details in the video. I'm going scene by scene and making note of it all, and will post some of the odder things I've caught when I'm through.

I don't know if this is an acceptable form of information gathering...but when I was googling my way through all the key words, I was taken to the forum regarding this site @ something awful. Someone on there called Todd and asked if there was someone with Blackstar he/she(?) could speak to. They told them to call a Katie @ 414-688-8914....

If nosing around other people's forums is in bad taste, I accept responsibility for my actions...and wont do it again....or at least not tell anyone about it.

META: Just called that number, but it doesn't quite seem set up for in-game use at the moment. From the voicemail message I got, it might belong to one of the producers (matched a name in the credits). So, maybe we should hold off on calling it for a bit?

EDIT: Or maybe not? The number was supposed to be for a 'Katie' from Blackstar, but instead the voicemail message told me I had reached the apartment of **a name in the credits**. However, much of the info in the credits is clearly made up. The person whose apartment I supposedly called is listed as a member of the Milwaukee Tourism Commission. So... maybe it is an in-game number, but to someone else? Not quite sure what to make of it at this point.

Awesome, this looks very promising. I'm emailing the tourism board to ask about the stipend, and any career opportunities Blackstar might offer.

I'm watching the video again with a notebook.

Ok... I'm going to start with Fennel. It shows up repeatedly, without explanation, throughout the video.

A bulb is being planted at 1:25, punched at 2:45, and placed under a bench around 2:50. All of the children's drawings hanging at the 'Activity Place' (1:40) are drawn on a coloring-book style fennel image, with the text: "THESE BELONG UNDERGROUND. WHERE ARE YOURS?". These drawings show up again, in a trash bag, at 6:03. And at 6:30, a similar image of one shows up in the teen instructional video.

Something else worth noting, and possibly related: in the credits, at 10:08, the lyrics to the song include two japanese terms. "Charming yasai Exquisite ankoku"... charming vegetable, exquisite darkness.

Any thoughts?

the ending caught me off guard. It was a rather clever satire of anime, but it was something i didn't expect.

Do those two words have different meanings in japanese? I know that some kanji can mean different things sometimes....

Blackstar Not Blackstar
Anime?

I read somewhere that it's the name of a manga or anime series. But I haven't found it anywhere.

Not as far as I can tell... in this case, they seem to solidly represent 'vegetables' and 'darkness'.

Another fun thing to note- the differences in Class ratings for structures. Here's what I've gathered:

Class C: Rupture Radar
Class G: Rupture Resistant
Class K: Rupture Reductive
Class L: Rupture Rally

I'm definitely curious to know what danger the Godseeds pose, that would require such fortifications.

If my calculations are correct, the countdown in the upper right is leading to Noon EST, Friday January 16th.
Anything special that day?

The Circle Line boat is New York.

Syndyne is connected to the documentary called Hoopeston. Could find no IMDB links.

I'm guessing the Tourism Commission filmed in New York because Milwaukee is a mess.

Email sent, but I didn't call the number. I get nervous when it comes to those things, and I'm not the one paying for the phone bill!

We'll see what kind of response I get.

I thought this might be a teaser for a movie or something, but on January 16th, these movies are coming out:

none of which seem related Rolling Eyes
