I actually prefer the aesthetics of the pbwiki. Obviously, it's very subjective.

World Map

So this is really rough, but using the white space on the "Golden Map" that looks to be in the shape of Wisconsin I tried to transpose the US map:

If it actually means anything I could probably do a tighter job. Some of the Great Lakes line up pretty well.

The only problem is, what about that green mass of land below TX and LA? That should be the Gulf of Mexico... and Austin is included in the green mass, but it's been destroyed.

Do you think the curvature of the map in the video could skew things when comparing to a flat US map?

For example, that island mass where Hawaii is... that could actually correspond if the two maps were normalized?

Yeah, like I said, it's rough. Looks like I've been beaten with better version using the lat & long lines. I just tried to line up what looked like Wisconsin with the actual Wisconsin.

Interesting, but HI is only there because the map I used placed AK and HI on the bottom rather than locate them where they actually are spatially.

The left edge of AK does line up though...

I can totally see what you're talking about though.

What if we look at the latitude/longitude lines of the US and try to match those up?

edit: this is out-of-game, but I just felt the need to say something. I've been reading SA in addition to this board, and I know a lot of other people do, too, and vice-versa. I don't think this needs to be an us-against-them thing, or a competition. I think we can all collaborate and work on this together.

Probably nothing, because the whole video is parodied in the credits, but here's part of that pic vis-a-vis something similar in the credits. (Treasure hunter M silhouette in the background)

The points of light stand out, obviously, and it's probably nothing.

Speaking of, has anyone asked what the rebreathers are for?

Rebreather technology has historically been developed specifically for underwater use--though it's now used in other environments where clean air is in short supply. They could cetainly play in to the flood theory.

Yeah, I'm from SA. I've been posting on uF here and there because you guys seem to be way more about it. I think everybody's watching everybody, and that's cool. I just want to solve this... ARG (you can't swear here, can you?).

well, for the wiki I'm probably one of last people who should 'vote', or at least my vote would be obvious... but to attempt to be as unbiased as possible, I do actually prefer mediawiki over pbwiki; however, pbwiki does have more of a focus (it seems to me, at least) on discussion and collaboration (I just find the commenting ability, on the wiki main page itself, a bit awkward though); but I think mediawiki overall may be more flexible.
I personally use wikis to focus on storing 'fact' data, avoiding the speculation/discussion/etc, to focus on organizing and linking information in a web of related content (the strength of any wiki, really). And a wiki is always evolving, finding better ways to present data; and I don't see this campaign making that process any easier =P
Is there a way both could exist focusing on their different strengths? I've always supported the effort to avoid duplicating effort and data... so as the other owner said pages ago, I'm also willing to secede the mediawiki if the other is more used and preferred.
bah! I can't make the call.

maybe Despoiler should just make a wiki and settle it once and for all Laughing

There's just so much information in the campaign so far, for whatever it is, that I can't see (at this point at least) an immediately intuitive way to organize and link everything... especially with synydyne's other videos and shared assets (like that foil man, or people who might be characters and vice versa)... it's big jumble of craziness!

/me needs to go to bed now... guh

I'm trying this now, but it doesn't seem to make sense. Latitude lines are parallel for the most part, which they should be...but the longitude lines seem to go in a different directions, which they shouldn't. I'm fitting it to a globe, which it seems to want to do, because the latitudes are circular...so, we'll see...i'm still fussing with it...

what if you try flipping the map? maybe its just me, but the bottom part near texas looks like texas but flipped. and another thing...instead of this being places that are still there, it is possible that it may be the parts of the US that are Destroyed

Wiki

Well, we've got the one that's up so I'd just assume use that. If there's dissenting opinions about things posted there (and if that's a real problem) people should edit in their view rather than deleting anything that (in their mind) is erroneous. My 2 cents.
