Welcome aboard! Smile
Yeah, those coords appear to be on or very near a golf course. I did a bit of digging around and found that "Big Ear" is in Delaware Ohio, so I've assumed it's the one. However, as I mentioned, I wasn't certain on this one (hence the comment in brackets Wink )
However, it's worth noting that these coordinates are the only ones that, when bashed in to Google Maps, generate a street view that we can explore. It might be worth having a wander round and see if anything obvious leaps out.

Edit:- I've done a bit more digging, the observatory does not exist anymore, that golf course was built in it's place. There's a commemorative marker at the entrance to the golf course.

Maybe they built over something else too? Wink

That's where they buried Hoffa.

LOL!

Is this something you can share with the rest of us, Amazing Larry?

A bit on how I got to "the answer":

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So yeah - it did turn out to be a 1 and the fact that it an "I" "needed to be removed" from "INCREDIBILE" and "CARL SAGAIN" (I don't know WHERE that "I" goes, I'll just put it there. Wink ) prompted me to try treating it like a roman numeral and subtract it from each of the numbers. It's a stretch, granted, but it turned out to be important.

At that point, though, they're still just numbers. They look a lot like coordinates, to be sure. But celestial coordinates? Earth coordinates? Something else? Figuring that Earth coordinates would be the easiest to eliminate, I plugged one into google maps.

The first one on the list, which when you subtract one from both is 52.9153 6.603, turns out to be in the Netherlands. I actually didn't notice the GIANT LINE OF RADAR DISHES at first because I had google maps in "map" mode and not "satellite" mode. The FIRST thing I actually noticed was that the "explore this area" images on the left put the coordinates very close to a concentration camp (GODWIN ALERT!!!)

If you google "Westerbork" the only two things that really come up are said concentration camp and The Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope.

Of course, had I started with the LAST one (resolves to Arecibo) and been in satellite mode on gmaps, I could have saved a lot of time. That thing can not only see into space you can probably see it from space.

I made the SETI connection because of Arecibo. If you search the http://seti.org site for the names of the other telescopes, you get hits on most of them. I couldn't find anything on the one that turned out to be in Japan, but it's a freaking radio telescope, so come on.

The reason "the answer" is in quotes above is that while this is certainly interesting and relevant (considering Carl Sagan's connection to SETI and all that) is that there's no obvious next step like there has been with the earlier puzzles. I emailed my findings to the address that the "sources" url came from (stareightsixSPLATgmail.com), but I haven't heard anything back. Amazing Larry said he did the same thing. It did take them a while last time, so I guess we'll have to wait it out.

In closing, "thagomizer".

Am I to assume then, that there's still more we're needing to figure out w/ this particular "Puzzle" then? - Seems Jaybill hasn't recieved anything back yet in the past -24hrs at least.

I guess, in lieu of any email replies, we must still need to work something out, but I'm damned if I can see what it is.

I might be behind the times, but it there some imagery from the original video that we are missing? Why are all those guys digging? Why at 1:19 do the words "20 HYPERPLANE" appear. Maybe this is what we should be looking for.

Though I've been wrong before:)

Yeah, I went back and revisited the original video too, just in case. But I suspect that we're done with it as a clue.

The Hyperplane image lead us to http://stareightsix.com/hyperplane

Shouldn't we be looking at the coordinates? I mean that is as far as we have gotten. My guess is that the odd one out in this case the "Big ear" one wich doesnt have a telescope anymore is where we should look. Read about the telescope a bit on their old website seems they got some "Wow" sound some time (named after some trainee or something that heard the sound and said wow).

Dont know the rules for what is a spoiler and not so put it all in spoler text =)

Yeah, the Wow! signal was a signal that was picked up that displayed exactly the sort of characteristics that SETI were looking for. They got a bit excited, thinking they'd made contact. When they went back and listened to the area they'd received the signal from again, they got nothing, and they've tried again numerous times over the years without any success. The cause of the signal was, and remains, a mystery. But the scientific community (including the scientist who made the discovery) are pretty convinced it was not a signal from an intelligent race.

I drew the same sort of conclusions as yourself and tried a number of different words on the site, wow, big_ear, bigear, wowsignal, firstcontact, contact *takes a breath* etc, with no joy.
