Indeed, Leyton, I have been teleported to the church via my magical shovel. Here's the email I got:

Quote:
You place the box of sugar on the ground and pick up the toy shovel. As you grab its plastic handle, the shovel begins to glow and vibrate.
The room around you fades as to a ghostly white. The hard floor beneath you softens, and the smell of trees surrounds you. The fog around you slowly breaks and gives way to your new surroundings.
You are in front of a church, standing on the grass. You see another traveler standing at the door to the church.

So it looks like someone else might be getting entry to the Village through my recently vacated house. If you do, there should be a life bead in that cabinet for you. I spent my turn approaching Leyton and saying "Hello". Time for team work!

For evil0o1 and FSURobbie, definitely get your creative freak on! If you roll back through this thread you can see what some of us submitted for our first challenges. So Evil, flatter the heck out of the gevernor and talk about how you'll do good things for the village. And FSURobbie, maybe outline a plan of how you'll help the village if you can search the box or something like that. Like Leyton said, get creative and have some fun with it.

The empty prescription bottle is empty. It smells of something bitter, like medicine. Inside is some dust, presumably left over from whatever was in there before. There is no label anymore; it has been mostly worn away. You can only make out the first initials of the name: J. S. You put the bottle in your pocket.

ME :I would like to take the notepad.

Quote:
The notepad is small and has a coil of metal that holds it together at the top.

The first few pages are missing. They were torn out hastily if the messy remainders of the missing pages are any indication.

As you hold the notebook, handwriting begins appearing on the top page. You can feel the notebook shake and dip in your hand as the invisible writer scribbles the developing message. It reads:

"What you write here will be seen in my old picture frame. Use it well."

If you would like to write or draw something on the pad, please send it as your next turn. If not, you may continue your exploration.

What should I write in the notebook?

Uberg, it would appear that your notebook and Leyton's picture frame are linked. This may come in quite useful down the line. I am not sure if it has an immediate purpose though.

If that's true, I might have just gotten the most valuable item yet. Whoa!

Ok, I got creative...kinda...

I tried thinking of a reason that would make the Governor trust me with his box and it's content. I couldn't really come up with a logical reason as I was only trying to open it to, well, loot it. Then it hit me: Who get's a paycheck and respect to loot places? Archeologists!!!

So, I decided to take on the persona of a favorite guy of mine and step into his shoes and enter Transition Village. If you can't trust this guy, I don't know who you can:

Here's hoping it works... Cool

Yeah, that site rocks. It gives me a headache trying to imagine the amount of actionscript it takes for that site to do what it does, but hey, I didn't have to code it! Thanks for the find, it's a cool resource...

Here's what I sent to Transition Village...

Quote:
I turn and speak to in the direction of the voice I heard, though I can't find it's source.

"Buddy, I'm not here to rob you or your mayor, I'm an archeologist and I came to this village to investigate it and it's history. If you or your mayor don't believe me, that's fine by me, but I'm no liar. You can go here to see for yourself:

http://www.wix.com/theProfessor/the-Professors-Journal

I'm here to collect some relics and try to piece together what happened here, nothing more..."

Alright my letter to the governor worked!

Quote:
In a large mansion across town, the Governor receives your message. "Well, how wonderfully nice this traveler is. How respectful and pleasant! The contents of the cabinet are hereby released."

The ghost has disappeared and left you free to approach the cabinet. You open it up, and the smell of more hay comes at you. There are bits of straw all over the shelves. Inside, you find a silver spur and a bottle of wine.

You may take only one item per turn.

The college student in me demands I start with the bottle of wine

Mine too! Apparently the Governor is a fan!

Quote:
In a large mansion across town, the Governor looks over your work. "This is incredible! Such a famous and accomplished adventurer in our village! He must be treated with respect. We can certainly trust him."
Back in your house, two of the three keys on the ring disappear, leaving only the key that will open the black box.
It is a brown, crusted key with a design on the handle that looks like a tombstone. You put the key into the lock and turn it.
With a labored *click* like the sound of something old breaking, the top of the box pops open. You look inside.
The box is deceiving. Though it can fit in your hand, it is actually deeper and wider inside than half of this room. Looking into its contents makes you a bit dizzy and very disoriented. There are two things sitting inside, an arm's reach away: two life beads joined together, and a child's plastic bucket.
You may take only one item per turn.

I must say, I'm quite pleased with myself...Although I seem to have opened a can of worms. So, bucket or life bead?

Hrmm interesting works are afoot...

Quote:
The soggy wood of the picture frame makes the inside of your pocket wet as you put it away.

You walk away from the front of the church and meet the other traveler in the grass. He greets you with a friendly, "Hello."

You are both standing in the grass in front of the church.

My response:
Quote:
I would like to ask Hesor if he has any advice for the first time this week before taking my next turn, please.

Good call on checking with Hesor. Its official, we have met up in front of the church.

My email:
Quote:
The other traveler approaches you as you greet him with a friendly, "Hello."

You are both standing in the grass in front of the church. You have a toy shovel in your hand.

I didn't want to do much until Leyton hears back from Hesor, so I replied with:
Quote:

I would like to scan my surroundings for anything of interest while muttering "laser" out loud. I must know what that word means to me.
This will be my turn as my fellow traveller is asking his tiny, magical horse for advice!

Seriously, I need to know how the word "laser" works into this. I am unsure of it's meaning, but with any luck, beams of eye light will not incinerate Leyton's tiny, horse friend.

Okay here's my response before my Thursday turn:

Quote:
Hesor appears on your shoulder and examines your circumstances for a moment before speaking.

"It seems you've found another traveler- and he has the shovel that belonged to the baker's son!" He looks around a moment more. "But you're out in the open, and that's very dangerous in Transition Village. Many of the ghosts in town are nice enough, but some are very dangerous. You have my whip for protection, but you'll have to be very clever if you want to survive a ghost attack. You should find out what your fellow traveler has with him. Maybe you could find a way to work together and stay safe in the open."

You grab the first picture and turn it around to see what's behind it. The wall behind is blank.

Placing the first picture back on the wall, you step over to the second picture. You grab it and pull it off of the wall. There is a safe built into the wall behind it. The safe doesn't seem to have any conventional locking mechanisms, but it has a mirror on the front.

You hear a humming from your journal and open it to hear it sing.

You've found a very secret place

For keeping things that others chase

But only those

With funny bones

Will make an appropriate face

You may try to open the safe for your next turn or continue exploring.

Because you are behind one move, you may have an extra turn today.

Lairosiel, I think all you have to do is make a silly face at the mirror, funny bone is equivalent to a sense of humor.
