Yeah the reason I put it in spoiler was because of the thing about crime and the stuff about voting, I didnt want to give it away without people having to at least read a blog or two.

My Conversation with Ben was interesting, he agreed that something fishy could be going on and seemed to almost defend the producer.

Dirt_Diver: Well in the article one of the "Contestants" was working for the organizer, so they just rigged it for them to win.

Dirt_Diver: Its not really that far fetched when yuo think about it.

Ben: What are they just going to ask for it back from the winner?

Dirt_Diver: I Just want it to be fair and unbias. I dont want you to lose or anybody else for that matter because the producer likes somebody else. Or needs somebody else to win.

Ben: Launder money? that seems kinda farfetched.

Ben: I didn't really think of it as being secretive. I mean if someone offers you a 1 in 5 shot at some serious change you take the shot and don't ask a lot of questions. As long as everything seems above board, why rock the boat?
Dirt_Diver: Idk, I read in a business magazine about a company that did something similiar in order to launder money. I dont want to accuse anybody, but it does seem to almost fit the bill.

Ben: I guess so. But it is what it is.

Dirt_Diver: I just think something fishy is going on there, why is he so secretive about it?

Dirt_Diver: Well if the voting was made public or two people counted the votes then it wouldn't happen.

Ben:Plus, its a little late to get him to change the game now don't you think?

Ben:I Suppose that could happen. But if someone else counted the votes couldnt the same thing happen?

Dirt_Diver: Don't you think it could become bias? Lets say he wants silvia to win, and the votes are in your favor. And he just counts it and reports her winning, how is that fair?

Ben: Hadn't thought about it. I mean Someone has to count the votes, since it his money to give away why not him?

Dirt_Diver: Doesn't that seem odd to you?

Dirt_Diver: No but I talked to him about it, and it seems that nobody gets to see the vote count except for the producer. He counts them himself.

Ben: Its done through email I know that. And people get more than one vote, 10 ? I think. I didn't pay that much attention I just figured whoever gets the most votes wins. Did you hear something different?

Dirt_Diver: Interesting, did he ever explain the whole vote counting process to you?

Ben: No, I was told the prize would be at LEAST 3/4 million, but I never asked what the top prize was.

Dirt_Diver: Sounds good, Did Don ever tell you the maximum prize ever awarded?

Ben: Go ahead, We were told that we should be in chat as much as possible.

Dirt_Diver: Thats good to hear, if you don't mind I wanted to ask you a few things.

Ben: Not bad.

Dirt_Diver: pretty good, and yourself?

Ben: Hi Dirt. Hows it going?

Dirt_Diver: Hey ben

Didn't one of our contestants work at a Plant???

And dirt... I think you kind of let on a little bit too much info, even for a general convo.

Danke... It does kind of throw my whole, the code wont be given until midway theory out of the window but I am just wondering if "Plant" is a literal keyword...

EDIT: ALSO.

Am I the only one seeing the odd one out here? Answers to the very latest question.
----

Quote:
Silvia: Well, I would first set up college accounts for my children. Then I would give some to the widows support group I attend. I would then use some to improve our standard of living, upgrade furniture, car remodel the kitchen things like that.

Stephanie: If there is enough money left over I would look into opening a rehab center for victims of TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).

Ben: Well I would want to make sure my kids could pay for college so I would set something up for that. Then I would go back to school myself. Try to get into a field that doesn't involve heavy lifting. and then save the rest for a rainy day. cause you just never know.

Stuart: Well there is a committee in town raising money to build a memorial to those who died in the storm. I would donate a chunk to that. Also since the city park was heavily damaged I would spend some money on new playground equipment, One of those big wooden jobbies with lots of ladders and walkways and hiding places. Not only would my kids like it but all kids would.

Steve: I would put some away for Katie's future and then I would invest what was left and use the proceeds to help fund the March of Dimes.

If not, here's a heads up:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Not only is Ben the ONLY one whose name doesn't begin with "S" like I mentioned before... He's the ONLY one out of all 5, who doesn't mention using the money towards one of the major things he mentions at the top of the Game (his wife's breast cancer).

Since the question was about after needs are met, I'm going to assume he took it to mean after all care for his terminally ill wife.

I'm leaning another way until we get more information. I think for many of us, the needs of a war widow tug at the heart, as that is the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. If I planned to perpetrate a fraud such as this one, I'd concoct a story just like that because no one would question that Silvia's deserving -- even a couple of the other contestants would choose her.

Yes but, as I said... All the other contestants said they'd use it towards funding for treatment for [name of illness taking their spouse/child here] or relief funds or campaigns for widows etc. - He mentioned nothing about donating towards breastcancer or anything even remotely similar.

Advice needed: Should I PM Don and get 'inside'? Ask him if he wants me to attempt to steer you guys into voting the "person" he thinks it'll be?

I understand where you're coming from, and it's a completely valid point and may prove correct. I just don't want to fault him for wanting to get more education to improve his life.

ETA: Yikes! It would be fun to watch you do that Leyton. Not sure how far you'll get but you've got my vote!

PM Sent to Don:
Quote:
Hey Don,

This is a rather fun game as well as one which I've personally found exhilarating in the sense of being able to help out people! But, about your little bet.

I'd like to be able to possibly help you... In helping the person you're clearly deeming more deserving than the others and the one you feel we'll all end up choosing. Would you be interested in a little help in possibly steering the other voters towards that person?

If so... Just tell me who it is you've bet on and you never know I may even be thinking of voting that person anyway...

If not... That's fine, just tell me that you would in no way, shape or form like to cheat your friends whom you're betting against and we'll keep this between the two of us,

-L.D.S

Eh well, not as simple as I figured...

Quote:
You want me to try to change the outcome of a game that has been in the works for many months and potentially ruin someones chances of getting the prize they deserve over a 5 dollar bet? No Thank you. You are free to lobby the others to vote for any candidate of your choice, just don't ask again which candidate is my choice.

Dang, I'm thinking I might try my method of questioning each contestant when we are alone in chat.

didn't it say somewhere that the "winner" will send out some sort of code to let the people who are concerned know that they are the intended winner???

And is that through misspelling?? Or just a certain code word itself?

i wont post this at the deservingone forums yet

i need your if this is a good question

"if your meeting some that you completely dont know what looks like and the person your meeting will only know who you are via a code, What code will it be?"

it might be too revealing

suggestions on how to ask something like these, but less fishy sounding

Luns, all the Detective said was, "At some point during the game the plant will pass some sort of coded message to the host, Don Talon, letting him know they are the intended winner."

victorgill, maybe something like: If you were arranging a secret meeting with someone you'd never met in person, how would you determine that the person you meet isn't an imposter? I wouldn't use the word code at all.
