Re: This is important

scotty2012 wrote:

hey guys, I got the, uh, pre-approved version of the handbook. Sounds like the bosses were a little upset. I have a quick question: What grim tale exactly do the charts on page 26 and 27 tell better than words? I'm confused.

Thanks,
Scott

Oh my. I've never actually read the text on p26 before, so I was confused about the "grim tale". But I was playing with the chart yesterday, and I got a couple of words out of it. The first word was "grim".

I was thinking, maybe the p26 chart is the key to the p27 chart somehow. From left to right, top to bottom (ignoring the axes) the first number is 3. The only 3 on the chart is an E2, which seemed wrong. Well, maybe it's one of the missing numbers! In that case it can only be a G.

Next number on p26 is a 6. 3 choices for that, R, A, W. Hmm.

Next number is a 9: L, or I

Next number is a 15. Crud. Well, that's 3x5, and we already used the only possible 3, so lets go with 5: M.

So so far I have:
Code:

G
RAW
LI
M

The only word I find in there going top to bottom is "grim"

Using similar logic I got to "grim like th" before I couldnt come up with a justifacation about which number to pick.

Probably 175% wrong, but something to chew on. Smile

There has been some mention of the theory that Mike Russo might be a "rebel" contact within Blackstar/MTC. Has anyone tried to email him in code seeing if he'll give us more info about that angle? Just an idea.

I haven't gotten any responses back from any of my e-mail yet... *sigh*

Maybe something will come my way Monday - I'm hoping to get in on the PTC angle somehow. I've also e-mailed Russo mentioning that I'm enjoying the booklet and "A friend of mine told me that the chart on page 27 makes him want to WORK IN THE SUN; GROW YOUR FAMILY TREE. Isn't that strange?" to see if we're going in the right direction on the booklet.

Hi, I'm new, first ARG, etc. etc. c:

Anyways, I requested friendship with both Mars and Lipps on Facebook and sent a message to Lipps at Oshi's suggestion. I'll post any follow-up.

Quote:
Hello! I was told through a friend of a friend that you're currently employed at Blackstar. I happen to be interested in relocating to Milwaukee from Wichita, where I'm currently interning at a Blackstar branch. I was curious to see if you had any insight or tips on climbing the "company ladder" that would be useful once I settle down in Milwaukee.

I've tried contacting the MTC, but a voicemail instructs me to call a Mike Russo and his inbox seems to be full. Hopefully, you'll have something for me. (:

I am very eager for your response and perhaps we can meet up formally after my relocation!

Best Wishes
-- Alex King

I haven't been keeping up particularly closely over the last few days - has there been much other talk of rebels?

Well, I got a response from Russo! Very Happy

But, even though this is just a game, now I feel badly for making him more upset. Sad

Here's what I got back:

Quote:

Hello Mike,

I'm really enjoying that booklet you guys sent out the other day!

A friend of mine told me that the chart on page 27 makes him want to WORK IN THE SUN; GROW YOUR FAMILY TREE. Isn't that strange?

I hope I can buy you a drink when I get to Milwaukee!

--------------------------

Nathan,

That booklet leak almost cost me my job. And I'm sick to my goddamn stomach of Larose treating me like a child. You want to know something? You've got the right idea, sure, but you're missing the finer point. People don't LIKE to talk about things that have bothered them, or ruined them, or threaten them. So they skirt around the issue, or describe it out of context, or with numbers, or, even worse, use these stupid euphemistic allusions rather than confront the real issue. Clearly you have to apprehend what I'm indicating.

Safe house and character confusions.

Actually, a friend of mine did call and get the message with the Chinese at the end. She said it sounded like "Shu dwi (or dwa?) ya mei?" but that at the end of that it said "Wo cang" which means to harbor or to shelter, and someone on the other thread said that would make sense with the Milwaukee: A Reasonable Haven handbook. It seems to make more sense that they would be speaking entirely in Chinese anyway, rather than in Chinese and then French, but if you can figure out what the first part is maybe we'll have a better idea?

This reminds me. Has anyone asked an in-game character if the Safe House ( http://www.safe-house.com/faq.html )is still there?

Also, as someone that spends more time looking at the puzzles and other info-packet stuff, I'm starting to loose track of all the threads of the known characters, their known and hypothesised relations/interests, and what they have said that might be helpful or misleading about the contents of the MARH packet. I'm not sure what I'm asking exactly, but is everything learned about the characters making it to the wiki pages on them? Or are the facts there, and I'm just loosing track of the conjectures that aren't there?

Just to let you guys know, I have never received a response to my emails to Lipps Leroux or Mars Madison; guess they don't like me very well, LOL. Laughing

What do you think would be my best bet now: send another email, or forget about it and move on to another aspect of the game?

A lot seems to have developed between the time I last checked the forums and now, so I am not totally sure on all that has been going on. I will try to catch up sometime, but I don't know; this might be too much for me to deal with right now. It's been fun, but I'm pretty busy of late, so if I don't interact much, that's why. Wink

I think this last Twitter update really bares some going over. It might be nothing, but I feel that by mentioning the specific group of rebels, he's telling us something. Not sure what....

The only thing I can get out of it is snakes being linked to chthonic energy, and chthonic energy being mentioned in M:ARH book. I think that was supposed to be the clue in it all, really.

Perhaps the rebels are the shadow dudes that Jagoda zaps during the end credits of the promo video (the PM's way of telling us that's not a depiction of GS fragments).

First Post, First ARG, that out of the way...

Mars Madison just posted on the Young Professionals of Milwaukee Facebook Group this message:

Quote:
you won't believe what happened to me this weekend. this city is much more f'd up than it seems.

I posted on her wall, trying to get some more info about what happened. I'll let you all know if I hear anything back.

On the East side of Milwaukee there is a restaurant/bar called the BBC as I recall. Could there be a clue there?

Big Brass City / Decatur, imo
