"Do you see these tables?" She waved her palm across the green house at the three large tables there. "They are not all the same." "Come," and she took me by the arm and led me to the first table on the left as we entered the green house.

Well, it's pretty clear that this is a guide to help us solve the first table.

edit: I take this back... it could also be stressing the point that this table on the left is nothing but a distraction.

Quote:
A giant sign hung over us as we sat, asking us a threatening question that I could not understand. I looked at the menu, and saw a great many unusual foods. "These are just distractions," the girl said. "Where you sit is the secret." There was a peacock feather and a plant across from where I sat, from my bench against the wall. I asked the girl her name.

The 'menu' is just a distraction... maybe the unusual data on the table is irrelevant somehow? And the secret is where Chuck sits. Is that in the 'Green House', or specifically, the 'bench against the wall'? Hmm...

Quote:
She looked directly into my eyes. "You leave something behind here, in this secret place, that goes beyond what you know and understand." "I only hope that it is found quickly, covertly. The owners here, the ones who control this cafe, they are women and men with dark hearts." "And they must not know of what you leave, so important the artifact."

A drop?

Quote:
She leaned over and kissed me gently on the cheek. "You are tired, Duke Chuck, and so now I plant the seed." "Somewhere quiet, somewhere under. A little, a little. A trifle. Whoever finds it will spread it, and it will grow." "This table, this seat, under. Reunion."

So this is the clue? As to where to look?

Well, those words seem to call back to the worker in the original video? Maybe there's a clue in that series of words with the hammers and circuits and whatnot?

"Under" and "Reunion" reminded me of the video, and since she seems to be referring to the table, I'm currently looking for things are various times.

"Reunion" is 7:46 and shows a photo of a lake.
"Under" is the worker, at 2:50 to 2:54

Also of interest is the fact that 273 from the table is 4:33, which is precisely the moment the M-rotor thing comes up in the bar scene.

If I were to take this literally, I'd say go to a restaurant called the "Green House", find a bench against a wall that looks across at a peacock feather and a plant, and look under the bench.

There's a Greenhouse Cafe in Brooklyn:

Greenhouse Cafe
7717 Third Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11209

Sit against one side of the table and look for a peacock feather and a plant. The menu is a distraction, does that mean that the actual x and y scales are to be disregarded?

A woman appeared before me, young, black skinned, beautiful. I asked for a table, and she showed me three options:

"Yes, but I am shy, so pardon me if I am not talkative," she replied.

She blushed and smiled again. "You have done a great thing, to make me feel as a friend. I have felt in a dark forest without friends."

"Because you have offered me your kindness, I will repay you with a secret," she continued.

Says to me that Mars will give someone a secret if they make friends with her.

Dead drop

I agree with PostLarval. Do we have anyone in Decatur who could look for a dead drop at a restaurant there?

Definitely a good sign as to making friends with Mars, but what's the secret? Guess we'll find out soon- eight friends to go and counting, as of my posting this. Sadly, I don't live anywhere near Decatur- too bad we're unlikely to get dead drops in Florida XD

Well given that the PMs work out of New York, that the fax came from there, and that the previous drop took place there, we need someone in NYC. That's where the drop will probably be, my guess at the Cafe I mentioned above.

Well, she only needs 16 more friends on facebook to have 300, which seems a likely number for her to open up.

I think though that the PMs are keeping things in NYC; everything so far in real life (the videos and the first drop) were there, so the Brooklyn restaurant might be good to check. Of course, I agree that if there IS anyone in or near Decatur, it couldn't hurt to check there too.

This struck me as a good place to begin... reminds me of the symbol above the copyright. Is there a way to use the instructions to step through the book? or to move around the tables?

Looking at this as a drop, I now read other parts of the story differently. As far as the tables go- I think they're telling us that the first table, on the left, really is nothing but a distraction, in order to help us move beyond it.

And I love that Chuck stressed he was going to eat some vegetables. They're definitely paying attention to our chatter.

1. WTF

2. He calls them ham-burgers, instead of hamBurgers or something like that. This seems to imply that the ham-burgers are made of ham. Confused

I was also pretty amused by the vegetables bit - nice to have some outside confirmation that we can drop that business now. Still, odd that the 'vegetarian option' was fries if they DO have vegetables. Maybe they just don't understand vegetarians?

Might just be more misunderstandings on their part of our 'culture.'

3. "prowess with elemental magics" - Voltaire is a wizard! There's magic in the Active Era.

Perhaps Chuck is casting a spell in the credits to deal with a GSF. Very Happy

Yeah, it's nice to have them try to end aimless discussion, and keep folks focused in the right direction. More than once now they've tried to move us past that first table, so I hope this will put it to rest.
