perhaps it's just a placemat of some sort, like tarot cards? Like... some sort of template to use when arranging your dark dollars?

I'd hate to think it's that, because then it's just another thing we can't do anything with. Yet.

Oh! What if that's how your DDs START, and then we're supposed to use the basic arrangements from the booklet to move them about?

Still not much we can do with that, obviously, but hopefully more clues will pop up somewhere...

also the number listed at the top:

Significant? Or just another fax artifact?

An interesting note: when the fax is rotated as stated above, the star symbol is right side up. This arrangement does fit the layout of the symbols on the first two pages of the M:ARH book.

One step ahead of you...

Don't know what to make of it though, maybe it's nothing, or maybe I did it wrong...

Thoughts peeps?

That's basically what I was getting at, but the orientation seems a little off. On the M:ARH book, the circle is higher than the x, and it looks to me as if the side of the fax should run parallel to the top of the book.

Perhaps we are dealing with 4 quadrants here? As in, page is divided into 4 zones and the circle and x are in the upper left zone, and the two of them are a dark dollar arrangement?

EDIT: the scale doesn't seem exactly right, either, which leads me to believe (for now, anyway) we are just supposed to use the "Dark Dollar Arrangements" page as merely a key to decoding this thing.

This is the best I could come up with in regards to forcing the fax to fit the booklet. Seems like this might not be what the fax is to be used for...or I'm an idiot. Either or really...

I was in the city today and saw this sticker on 2 different trains on the F line. Think it's in-game?

This is a quote from Klink on page 80 of the main thread. It includes a photo of the star sticker in the subway.

I am too new to this forum thing to know how to link that image with this new thread, but it seemed to me that the photo of the sticker showed an interesting texture on the background of the star sticker.

Assuming this sticker is related, and I know that's a big assumption, do you think it could be similar to the texture beneath the X on the fax?

Here's some info on those stickers. Doesn't look like it's related at all...

Golden map connection?

KasaiMagi wrote:
I like the idea of overlaying it in the hand book. My first thought when i saw the fax was overlaying it on the map in the promo video... dont know where that can go though.

I spent a good while staring at the golden map, and trying to match up the profiles (original and "un"warped in vairous ways) to lakes nearby Milwaukee and NY. Still very compelled that those are strongly topographical features in the golden map.

The shape around the X doesn't seem (to me) to match up well with any of the golden map shapes, unless it is one of the smallest ones which has lost its features due to the resolution of the image we have of the golden map.

Down the tangent of a connection, if you warp out the map and put the four outer symbols on the corners/intersections of the lines, it looks to me like it would put the X somewhere near the edge of or inside one of the green areas... the one with the long green extention "up" (and lots of little "islands/ponds" around the left of the extension's end). The X would be somewhere near the end of the extension. But I don't know that there is anything to that. I never really had a very cleanly rectilinear "un"warped result (but that is likely due to my minimal photoshop skills).

Edit: Well, assuming we know which symbols to put on which corners. I was just mentally doing a random one, now that I think about it.

I like the route that FSURobbie is taking. As an idea, maybe the fax is needed as a "key" to identify important information on each page, like a word or phrase or something. I can find one of those 5 symbols on most pages in the book. Maybe use the fax as an overlay by matching it up with that symbol on each page?

Also, these are obviously the same symbols from the dark dollars in the book. They faxed money to us. I doubt it will prove useful, but maybe someone should try faxing real money to themselves and see if the faxed versions show anything. I know of many hidden security features in current US dollars, but maybe one shows up when scanned (to prevent counterfeiting) that could clue us in on something?

I guess you're right; they don't seem to be a part of the game.

It's interesting that the stars on the trains (and the triangles mentioned in the article) stand for locations of mechanical things, like brakes and motors, though.

It's all starting to feel TOO coincidental, like I'm on an episode of Lost or something---I think I need to take a break! Confused

This seems like a good start, but I think that the 'thumbprint' is over a hand-drawn X, and not the Dark Dollar X. (Or, it is definitely warped.) My initial thought is that it's just the place we're supposed to hold down while we...what? align, rotate, fold? But that's how it strikes me.

And in that case, is the star symbol (and wherever it lands) the indicator of the important thing to look for, as it's the only symbol that's not shown on the currency? (Or is it the Blackstar logo and it appears on the reverse?)

I don't know, I just wish I could figure out what the fax is to be used for. I really think it's a key, I just have no idea how to use it. I thought about doing the folding/flipping thing per the Dark Dollar instructions but without knowing which end to start with it seems kinda impossible, at least at the moment...

What's with the miniature black square near the 'thumbprint'? Is that just a mark from faxing?

Edit: Never mind, there are a few on the fax. Probably nothing.

Hey guys, I just got off the phone with Joey.

He confirmed that the office is buzzing with talk about the faxes that went out, but that he was in the dark himself about what they meant. He also confirmed that the faxes came from the Milwaukee Tourist Commission.

He was a bit evasive, or I wasn't quite direct enough about asking if the faxes had anything to do with the A Reasonable Haven. Anyone have any questions pertaining to this that I should ask? I told him I might call back, and he said that was fine.

Let's call Mike about it at home later. He's probably not allowed to talk about it (his phones at the MTC are tapped, remember?)
