I sent in a resume & cover letter on Dec 11 for the Junior Re-Seeder position. I said I was Power Level 3 - hopefully that wasn't too high! Just joined forums today, but I've been lurking for a while now.

Good God - I think you're probably over-qualified for anything Blackstar might offer - lol. However - if you don't end up with the job - it just means the world has obviously gone nuts.

I applied for the hockey team!

Hello Mr. Lewis -

I am interested in expresing my interest in your posting for a STARTING FORWARD, THE MILWAUKEE MILWAUKEE TOURISM COMMISSION BLACKSTAR ICE DOGS BROUGHT TO YOU BY FEBRIZZIO'S. I am interested in this position, as I have extensive experience with ice hockey as well as road hockey. (CAR!) As a Canadian, it is federal law that we are all wizards on ice, and though I am a woman I assure you I can skate circles around any local males you may have on retainer. I also have few remaining front teeth, and a spectacular slapshot.

Please send me the test posthaste! I can't wait to astound and amaze you with my knowledge of the game.

Thanking you in advance -

That's pretty much awesome. I hope that someone gets a job so that we can get cracking on this dark dollar business!

Love it...and Dannushka's and Rakne's, too...and, well, every application that's been linked!

Alright, I can't resist...I just dug the (partially deflated) basketball out of the closet and put together an application photo for the basketball team. I figured I would play up the confusion of facts that seems to exist in TIMM. I'd love to see Terry Nanny try to take a basketball from *this* player!

Thanks Smile. Here's the e-mail text I sent:
Quote:
What's up, Milwaukee! I am SO excited to see this opening for a Starting Forward position with the Milwaukee Blackstar Hoopsters. I have been training my whole life to become part of this elite team. Put me on the court, and the Milwaukee FeBrizzio's Hoopers won't stand a chance! You can find my application photo at http://www.flickr.com/photos/shiny_sink/3108712717/ . Just take a look at how tough and mean I am with my b-ball...I am most definitely ready for a fight (or even better, a big dinner)! I'd like to see Terry Nanny try to take MY ball away!

As for my salary requirements, well, I am flexible, but let me remind you, I have been training my WHOLE LIFE to be part the "leetest" part of your team...you turn me down, it is your loss, my friend, but let's talk.

Looking forward to seeing you "on the court!" Blackstar, baby!

Ready for action,
(my name)

I figured that since I'm "applying for a job" I'd go all out. I called Mike Lewis, and got his voicemail. But I left a message saying I had submitted my resume to him, and I wanted to ensure he got it, that I was excited about the possibilites .. yada yada yada .. then left my phone# and email, just in case..

Remember it is always good business etiquette to send a thank you card after a face to face interview. If you are unsure where and who to send the card to ask for a business card or if that is not an option asking the receptionist for a proper address is a good alternative. If you are concerned with the businesses dress code and not sure how to dress it is always best to be over dressed than under but you should always remember the position you are applying for. It would be mighty silly to show up in a three-piece suit for a mechanics position.

Just wanted to chime in with my theory about the Power Lifter/Accounts Receivable job.

My theory here is that these are very much intentionally related. I believe it was in one of the calls with Mike Russo where he stated that Dark Dollars were created after the Catastrophe when they realized they needed a currency with empirical value. Basically, I think Dark Dollars aren't "dollars" like we envision them, they're actually the materials of greatest value to anyone living in "Active America" as it were. The obvious choice there are the materials listed on page 1 of Haven -- which are things like wood and iron and brass. If Dark Dollars are cut from these materials, and they are literally being paid into Accounts Receivable in their raw forms (since the purpose of Dark Dollars is not to use promisory notes, "backed" or otherwise), then you would in fact need some heavy lifters to deal with all those Dark Dollars coming in.

(Connected with that, it's possible the red "gem" Terry Nanny hands to the Treasure Hunter is a Dark Dollar made of "plasticite"?)

Yes/no/throw her to the godseed fragments?
