[DROP/MEETUP] Jan. 17th, 3pm EST at Central Park.
Report here if you're going to this drop!

Everyone who plans to go to this drop at the Basketball Courts in Central Park, please report here. Please tell us what you are planning to wear and bring with you.

If you're going, it's recommended that you bring a camera to take pictures and/or video. If you take video, then upload it to YouTube as soon as you can (break it up into pieces if it's really big). If you take pictures, Flickr is a good place to put them.

Oh, and if anyone here has a cellphone, try to use Twitter while you're at Central Park so you can keep us up to date.

thanks. Smile

EDIT: http://mymilwaukee.wikibruce.com/Central_Park_map - There's a map, in case you need it.

what makes us think this is a "drop"? looking very much like a face to face meet-up to me and has for awhile. the new tease by Mars on Facebook also hints at a meeting with Rebels or a representative. calling this a drop may be misleading imho...

I'm planning to be there for the meetup.

This is me:

Considering the weather, look for me in a black peacoat embroidered with flowers, and a Tom Baker scarf ( http://www.doctorwhoscarf.com/photo1b.jpg ) of about twelve feet in length, possibly wound around my head fifty or so times for warmth.

Afterwards we should get some hamBURGERS, or possibly a Milwaukee Margarita at Quartino.

I'm hoping at least two other people are coming, as I really prefer to travel in groups of three (or more).

If only commuting were free, I'd join y'all Smile

That .

this.

the point is: Mars places emphasis on the action of completing a delivery, not hoping someone finds whatever has been planted in a specific spot. also, as previously stated, this is a pretty big area to search for a drop and no guarantee the "package" would still be there in the middle of Manhattan even if left for a few hours. further, as others have mentioned, this is the culmination of much effort and previous "drops." this is something much bigger than an ordinary "drop."

people going on this adventure should fully plan for and expect contact with someone. this is quite obviously a meet-up imho...

Are you joking? They could easily use a messaging service or something...the point is, we're getting a "package", not meeting a character.

so far as you know. the point is to be prepared for all contingencies, which was my original reason for posting. this is also why the thread title may be misleading to some. i don't see the point of contention here. peeps need to be ready for anything and anyone on Saturday. after all, that (the not knowing what is about to happen) is at least half the mystery and fun of going on the adventure!

if the MTC or Blackstar, or the Rebels, or whoever simply wanted to messenger a package to the players, this could pretty easily be accomplished cheaper and more conveniently for all concerned in other ways. where's the fun in that?

Can we agree that no one is sure which it will be (or if it will even happen) and edit the thread title (if possible) to [DROP/MEETUP]?

Sadly I can't make the meetup, and I guess the Friday drop isn't going to happen.

Either way it should be interesting. Can't wait to see the results!

Just my two cents...

Central Park is a location where the PM's can't guarantee that a "package" is going to stay put - as compared to the NY library where they can put a note an obscure book days or weeks before it's discovered.

Given the 3:00pm timestamp, it's reasonable to assume that the "package" won't be at the location in Central Park at, say 2:59pm (sophisticated time-lock boxes aside).

Following that logic, it seems clear that a PM will have to physically "drop" the "package" at the location at 3:00pm. Whether Terry Nanny himself drops down in a parachute and hands a gold-bound copy of "Milwaukee: A Reasonable Haven" to our agents standing by, or if an undercover PM jogs by at top speed and drops a USB drive out his pant leg when nobody is looking, there are still going to be agents from both "our" side and "their" side "meeting up" in the same location.

Again, just my two cents. It's a silly discussion. Who else is coming??? I'm trying to get out of my commitments. No guarantees for me, though.

I'm trying to make arrangements to be there also, but it doesn't look promising.

I'm going to make my best effort to be there. Money is tight right now so I'm currently looking into the cheapest ways to get up there. Still haven't nailed down a video camera so I prolly won't be able to take video, but that's not much of a big deal.

Hopefully we can get a few people who are going and decide on a meet-up location, I'm thinking around 2:00 or 2:30.

Look for this doofus: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=775121763
