Dripping with RPG

I've been doing more careful examination of the video in order to find clues to help decode Mars Madison's diary, and I noticed something today that I never paid much attention to.

I've attached a series of pictures that tell a story. You can see for yourself what it is.

A couple of observations. 1) Traveling in groups of three in a V-formation with the most powerful person in front has been the way from the get-go. 2) Rebreathers are used for protection. Not using a rebreather causes you to take more damage from the Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragments. 3) Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragments have about 599 hit points and can be defeated with a flare gun.

What I'd like to know is what the heck that dragon-looking thing descending towards the end of this 'rpg' sequence during the little victory spin is supposed to be.

Big T, I'm pretty sure that was covered somewhere in the megathread. It's nice to get such clear pictures of it though.

I'm more of the mind that the reason there are so many things like this, such as people gaining "powerlevels" by eating, are because this is a culture that has built itself after complete ruin based on the pop culture it was able to salvage. One of the things they are using is video games, more specifically RPGs.

If any of you get hired by Blackstar make sure you pick up one of these:

Milwaukee 2300-20 M-Spector Digital Inspection Camera

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AOVBHG/ref=asc_df_B001AOVBHG697627?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=dealt82241-20&linkCode=asn

They are useful for determing if M-Rotors need reseating. Smile

Just a random thought, so I figured I'd drop it in the speculation topic.

I was thinking about it, and TIMM could rather easily be a promotion for the english release of the Rebuild of Evangelion movies. I mean, it fits in a lot of subtle ways. The light anime leanings, like the end theme of the TIMM video, are what got me thinking in this direction. There are a few random correlations I thought of;

- The building and fighting against artificial gods (Go.D.S.E.E.D. and the Angels and Evas)

- The sole surviving metropolis in the midst of a wasteland. (Milwaukee and Tokyo-3)

- The large governing organization of questionable motives (Blackstar and NERV)

- Teens traveling in groups of three (IE Shinji, Rei, and Asuka)

There are other little aspects as well. Aside from all that, when I thought about it, this feels like just the kind of promotion that Funimation might do. Combined with the fact that they've obtained the rights to the Rebuild of Eva movies and yet seemingly done nothing to promote the first's release later this year, it just feels right to me.

Of course, this is all idle speculation, but I'm suddenly rather fond of the idea.

a long walk

I've been trying to figure out the long walk graph. One of the axes is log and the other is linear. Moreover on the log axis, the data spans four orders of magnitude.

I did an image search starting with something like 'log linear plot' and following stuff that looks more and more like the graph, it turns out solar intensity graphs look pretty similar. Check out the bottom half of figure 3 here. It has a very similar shape, without the noise, and it covers the right amount of magnitude. Also, here and here.

if this were a viral marketing campaign, i seriously doubt we would have the extended lapses in communication/ interaction we have experienced since January, over the holidays, etc.

this is not a corporate entity we're dealing with here, imho. just some folks with nothing much to say for the last few months. pretty obvious...

Uh Oh
Two Friday 13ths

Actually this seems good news.
Because it means that somebody might have noted the two Fridays 13 coming up and placed a little Uh Oh in a turkey back in December. Which means that the scale of planning is quite long...

Observations

I have been lurking around this game for a while, and here are a few notes:

At 4:51 in the welcome video, a cinderblock is clearly visible in the background for no apparent reason. Maybe this is the same one Chuck smashed with his toe of steel. I searched the video high and low for a mirror (the other broken artifact), but could not find one.

Who is the woman sitting behind Terry Nanny as he removes his skates during the nightlife section of the video? She is clothed oddly and seems to be kind of noticeably placed, perhaps for a reason.

Has anyone tried reaching the Milwaukee Tourism Commission through snail mail? We do have a PO box number. We probably won't get anything different, but it is worth a thought.

Someone did mail something to the PO Box when the game first began and it came back undeliverable. You are more than free to send something out but I wouldn't hold my breath.

On a whim, I was browsing bruce's screencaps from the video, and (although I can't really make it out), "uh-oh" seems to have made an appearance in the Activity Place:

Anyone see _anything_ in that particular fennel pic? Something happening with the family trees?

From Chuck's tweets and the general lack of response/movement in the game, I think it's pretty clear they either lost funding or the project died.

I was thinking about this as I was raking leaves last weekend. Remember all of the brainpower & excitement there was? There was so much to discover...what did it all mean?

I wish the PMs would just do us all a favor and do a mass reveal of what the point of it all was if there was one. Or release the Actors from their NDAs and let them spill the beans.
