hmm. i thought the garden room and the greenhouse room were different areas, though? what i'm getting at is if there are more than 3 tables in this room we're talking about here. looks like there are only three then. which is a good thing...

sorry - I mistyped. I think they are different. Here's a picture of the garden: http://picasaweb.google.com/cafegratitude/9thAndIrving#5236269186470197986

looks like Chuck described it - sans living thing under the ground Smile

Wow, this is all very exciting, another drop! Great job Relogger! Thanks for going and attempting to retrieve the drop. I'm sure we will have another chance. The whole baby shower thing cannot be helped, and I'm sure the PMs will understand/change things accordingly.

Hmm... maybe I can convince my mom to take me to SF later today. I live in Marin County.

Probably not, though. Razz

Regarding Voltaire, it is speculated he named himself after a chateau called Airvault which does bare a resemblance to the chateau in the handbook.

Also the picture and the blurb about Voltaire is on page 41, in the handbook.
Interesting coincidence?

No, the chateau on p. 41 is pretty clearly this one

I posted a link a week or so ago. It was built in the 19th century, so the IRL Voltaire never saw it. I couldn't think of any way it might be significant, but you might want to pursue it.

Update: Relogger returned to the cafe and found a number 4 under the seat. We have no further details at the moment...

Do you think this has to do with the 4 and 1 we have from the Russo et al. phone calls? if so, because of the timing (and how we got stalled), I would assume it would be the first 4 in the 414 area code that's already been theorized.

OOOOR, how would the 4 relate to the Jagoda?

Or maybe the 4 and the 1 we got via phone calls was only the beginning...now we have a third number...and maybe more drops or other avenues will reveal more numbers until we finally piece together the whole sequence!

Time to start wishing for a drop nearby...

All that for a 4???? I suppose it is a trifle, but how do we spread it so it grows?

I'm curious if there was a peacock feather and a plant, and what the sign overhead said.

And I still think the three tables also refer to the three tables in M:ARH and specifically how to read the table on the left, though I don't know how.

It took quite awhile to get this drop! First, the drive is not short (~25 minutes) and parking is terrible so I parked about 3 or 4 blocks away. Third, it was raining all day today!

As I got to the cafe the second time, the back room was open. As I entered, there were three tables, left, left-center, and right. at left, was a couple having a very serious discussion but the others were empty, I eyed the right, but ended up sitting left-center. It was very dim in there, and somewhat quiet. The food is delicious and the wait staff attentive! (Attentive not being the best situation for this, hahha,)
Surreptitiously, I pull up the cushion and crawl under the table, and find NO clues at my table. I order tea and food slowly, hoping to outlast the couple, and a man and his kid come in and take the right table.
I asked the waitress about the garden, and she points behind me explaining it's too rainy to see it, (a third room in the row, so it goes cafe-greenhouse-garden). Thinking about how the story went I realize left is relative to where Chuck was standing! I scoped out the wrong table, and reason that the correct one is the one with man and child. On the wall above the serious couple are these things: (BlessedBlogegr had it verbatim) "Who would spirit deny?" and another that says "Can you let go and accept what is?". Also there are vases with a frond and a peacock feather each... which confirmed the booth. Now I resolved to wait out dad and child... and I have to come up with some way of switching tables without freaking out the employees.
Note: at this point the couple left, and I snuck over and found a 4 written under the cushion and nothing under the table. I do not believe this is IG but it was all I had at the time.
Fortunately another cafe-goer about my age wandered in and approached me. At first, I thought he was IG, but turns out he was not... and we had a deep discussion (which fended off the waiter trying to give me the check), and as soon as the dad left I suggested we move tables due to the rain (the greenhouse roof was a bit leaky as my companion noticed).
Note: I couldn't use my phone anymore while talking, it would have been very rude so I had to leave you guys hanging then.
Working into our conversation about Found Art, I pulled up the cushion and explained that "art can be found anywhere, such as these mysterious words". It was completely not suspicious at all! for indeed, on a piece of masking tape about 4 feet in length under the cushion was written in marker the following:

Divine v Thankful ^ v Authentic Awesome ^ Impeccable v Receptive ^ Attentive v Dazzling ^ Gentle v

Whipping out my camera to get a picture, it was too dim and a flash would have been very inappropriate, so I pulled the paper and pen I carry out and jotted down what was on the tape. The v is an arrow drawn facing down, and the ^ is an arrow drawn facing up. There is a larger space between v and Dazzling. I am fairly sure all words were capitalized. Also on this booth was a 10 NOT on the tape, and on the booth next was an 11, leading me to believe that it is just a numbering system for the restaurant.

Dessert arrived, and I completed my conversation with my new friend, before I raced home to bring you this info! Good luck!

(a couple pictures coming soon)
