still odd though. the first "drop" was in NYC. by a totally anon entity. the second (if confirmed) was in a totally (thus far) unrelated city on the far left coast. as far as the game goes, NY and San Fran have been decimated, leaving only the Midwest. why are drops being made in cities not related to the game?

i understand the first drop. the second (by an IG character) suggests SF is still alive. or the PM are just inconsistent?

thoughts?

[SPEC] I think we have to accept as fact that NY and SF exist in the game since we were sent to both places. What's odd in this story are the videos and some of the characters and their perspectives and memories. It seems possible to me that all of them don't have the same awareness as the others or us.

just dropping in, then? You, I mean...

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that we haven't had much luck. Still, I applaud all of you dedicated peoples that gave it a shot. This is obviously our location and I agree that someone OOG has taken our "trifle." Still, I don't think it would hurt to say something inconspicuous to one of the wait staff (especially if it's a waitress that matches the dream-waitress' description).
Maybe something like, "Excuse me, do you know a Mr. Chuck Jagoda?" or "I just left a reunion where I saw my uncle Voltaire, so I'm just a trifle hungry. Could I order some TELLMEWHATYOUKNOWORI'LLTHROWYOUTOTHEFRAGMENTS!"

Okay, so maybe that last example was a bit much. I'm sure the PMs will "reset" our dead drop. :/

I'm leaning more towards the possibility of SF and NYC being more populated areas and that's the reason for the dead drops being there. We've already established for DEF that NYC is gone IG after Russo's commentary on the 'formerlyknownas' East Side, so chances are they're just using cities they think more people are likely to be near.

Good work, pita!

We're chasing down a vaguely professional, sometimes unprepared, but overall neato PM and mistakes can be made. I think u were on top of the drop pita.

Pita, you should send a copy of the receipt to the MTC PO Box, and request a reimbursement Razz

So, wait, was there a server change every time someone went to pick up the drop?

I mean, in just that last one, the server changed after the guy was seen looking under a table, and she asked him a fruity question. Seems like someone should try the 'Reunion' bit - if they're OOG, it's not like it'll hurt anything. Maybe you'll just end up with some crappy salad or something.

And I don't think Chuck's description matching one of the servers is only a coincidence, though it doesn't make a huge difference either way.

I'd offer to do this, but I'm more in the Boston area. Be a bit more than 34 bucks. ;P

Reunion
In the 1st video

With all this talk of Reunion, that brings to mind something that stood out to me in the first video. When they're going through the Viewmaster-style rotary slideshow (where the guy with the robot arm is pictured, and the quick glimpse of apparent flooding), the slides conclude with a sorta lakeside scene as the voiceover gal states, seemingly apropos of nothing, "Reunion".

Maybe it's nothing, a trifle, but the way this game is going, you never know what could be a critical hint. Surely you know what I am referring to. Laughing

It seems clear to me that we'll need to answer that waitress with a codephrase. These folks are too smart to let it be stolen by an OOG person and not replace it.

I think the codephrase is under the table. Likely "The way into the doleful city."

You're asked if you're looking for something, and that should be your response. Just my thought.

I wish that a ton of us lived in SF so we could try everything that comes to mind. Whoever goes will need to decide for themselves what to do...

IMO treating the waitstaff as if they are in game is pretty risky. I mean, I doubt very much that "Are you looking for anything?" is a prompt and not just, well, a response to someone who is for some strange reason looking under the table. I think that if any of the waitstaff are in play, it's the waitress who looks like Mars, but even then, I think people ought to be pretty careful how they approach it.

Is there any reason not to tell them that you're looking for something that's part of an ARG, and explain what an ARG is in a nutshell? Razz

I've actually been wondering the same thing. If not going there and asking, why not just phone call - so as to avoid another expensive trip?

considering this started with chuck's tweets, regardin the "dinner party", can we rename this [puzzle] thread to something related to piecing to gether the 'way to the doleful city'?

I've attached the compilation of 3 overlaid images, each connected by two points for orientation as best as I could put it. (having now received the torn sheet from the SanFran drop)

1) the diamond and triangle match the fax with the gratitude drop
2) the 2 and 7 match the gratitude drop with MARH-p26

So now we have a more complete (if not COMPLETE) map. And an explanation for that first table! Hopefully that'll help some of y'all stop banging your heads against the wall =)

Let the spec begin...

The triangle thing matches the river intersection on the Milwaukee map pretty well if the diamond is on the upper right.
