Tarot

Many articles in the paranormal journal current edition point to divination, especially prophets and the Delphi Oracle. Could this be related? Perhaps the next clue is hidden in the paranormal journal site... Or maybe it has to do with Jung or Crowley... L'Maut mentioned that the tarot cards are set in some Crowley Configuration... On another thread which I don't remember the name, there is a discussion about the beatles, since they are mentioned in mlo's bio page. The album sgt. pepper has aldous huxley on it's cover, and it also has lewis carrol and crowley...

L'Maut said the configuration of the tarot cards looked like something from the egyptian book of doors, am I right? Well... Are they telling us to look for back doors? Or for Egypt?

Phillip Gairden is going to Cairo, isn't he?

hmm

nobody mentioned this here, but for those who seem confused, it's obvious that the ARGers = oafs = bigfoot because of all the portscanning and whomp whomp whomp'ing and lack of opposable thumbs and discovering them, etc. They were almost caught but caesar took advantage of labyrinth1.0 running around(or whatever made the spike) and used perhaps his alter ego to talk to underscore, fix up what wasn't broken(after breaking the trail of the hackers to cover their tracks) and scoot, taking his camp to little-boxes, which i think means they don't know beth because the other guys are talking about how nice the server is. which that in and of itself doesn't make sense. If Scratch likes little-boxes' 'pipe' that they're sitting on, what makes it different than, say, theaquapolis.com? As far as the game is concerned it's all on _'s servers, right?

Jumping back a page Pierre, the Labyrinth as the >whatever< which will cotrol the Aquapolis is a nice analogy, and ties in very well with the Gecian Mythology theme.

On that token though, the Aquapolis would be the Labyrinth (myth), which means they are going to contain a Minotaur (AI) in there...?

Yes, No?

... And sorry for double-posting, but I haven't had a chance to properly look: are any of those Tarot cards face-up? Which cards are they, and what significance?

Labirynth

Thx, Azathoth666...

I remembered that Icarus is related to the Labirynth mith too... He and his father Daedalus were put there to work for Minos, I think. His father built machines, if I'm not mistaken... Then Icarus decided to fly off the island along with his father... Though Daedalus escaped, Icarus flew too close to the Sun and melted wis wings, wich used wax to glue the feathers...

It's a myth about pride, I think... Scientific pride...

One other thing that adds to the possibility of a Labirynth-Aquapolis link is the metagame fact that it'd not be very practical to create another plot line, since we alredy know that Metacortex is creating a control system for the Aquapolis.

One other thing that points to Greece and that comes to mind: The Delphi Oracle, an Oracle dedicated to Helios, god of the sun and music... The same guy that fried poor Icarus' wings...

*cough* Anyone played Deus EX? *cough*

It deals with alot of those greek themes and stuff about conspiracy, like the Majestic 12 group, which brings us to another ARG with the same name, which might lead us to connect it with this ARG? iono O.o

Greek mithology and the Matrix

Greek myths that appear in The Matrix and in the ARG and that have come to mind now:

Persephone, The Oracle, Morpheus, The Labirynth

I'm sure there are more, but I don't remember... Could you help me?

Also, there are the dolphin songs and the insistance on the dolphin theme by Wongomo (sp?)... Dolphins are also important in Greek myths.

Philip Gairden quotes Plato, which is normal, since he's a philosopher, but it's funny, since the matrix is often associated with Plato's Cave...

And finally we have the Aquapolis, a resort in Greece... I just can't see the connection, though I'm pretty sure it's there and once we figure it out I'm going to say "Why didn't I think of that????"

Greek mithology and the Matrix

Yes.. in fact I have trouble not writing Acropolis instead of Aquapolis... But I guess that's not it... Though you could tie Plato to the Acropolis...

But many of the other are linked to Crete...

i think the aquapolis is definitely the future site of 01... the home of the first AI.. (by our theory)... it would spawn from there...

I agree that it is likely to be where the first AI is... let loose? escapes? born?... whatever, but I'm not sure we can make the logical step that it will be the site for 01: that would imply that the machines/AI had a sense of compassion for their own history... Everything else we've seen of the machines in the Matrix universe points that they would make a logical decision based on the input available.

My guess is that 01 would (will?) be located where the machines analyse to be the best logical location for a city.

But the Aquapolis is certainly going to be a starting point, IMHO. And where better: if you're going to build a Frankenstein, let him loose where you have (supposedly) the ability to take him out (ie, underwater).

The Aquapolis/Acropolis thing is scaring me a bit: the whole connotations of ruins, and a huge underwater hotel?

I think Aegae (not sure that's how it's spelled) was looking for his son's ship from the Acropolis (the sad sad story of how the Aegean sea was named - Theseus went to the Labyrinth to kill Minotaur, and told his father that if he succeeds, then his ships would return with a white flag; but he forgot to change the flag, and Aegae, thinking his son was dead, threw himself into the sea).

I can see so many Greek myths played out, or at least addressed in the Ms...

The Oracle, as Pierre mentioned (who was like a priestess of Apollo, not Helios). Take Oedipus' story, for example. The Oracle told king Laius that he would die from the hand of his son. Laius then left his son to die (can't remember - on some mountain, I think), but Oedipus did not die, and in the end killed his father anyway. "Inevitability". Though the analogy is not blatant, you can see it played out with Neo's accident with the vase; the Oracle says "Would you still have broken it if I didn't tell you?" Would Oedipus still have killed his father if the Oracle withheld that prophecy?

Anyway, I'd say there are a lot of others, particularly in connection with fate/Oracle, but I don't see how they can help solve the game??

How does this bake everyone's noodle, then?
