OK, I can't figure out how to hint any more plainly so I'll just say it: looking at the dimensions of the picture should give you an idea of the scale of the coordinates.

So, 1800x900 is a nice 2:1 like a map of the globe - 360x180 degrees.

OK, so I have a question: what do we do when everyone's pretty much abandoned a particular puzzle? I'm guessing people still want to keep this thread going (?), but we seem to have stalled on my puzzle. So do I just sorta give it away, or are we going to keep going for as long as it takes?

My daily hint: divide by ten.

I've pretty much given up on this one, but the group should decide how far to take it.
Assuming the /10 (180x90) applies to either the coordinate positions or their differences. I'm personally, still at a loss.

OK, just to speed things along...
#1 = 14.9N5.2E
Really should be fairly easy from there.

I STILL don't know what to do with this. Assuming all are the same format, you get something like:

http://tinyurl.com/ae5p4a

Which starts in Niger, runs through Italy and Austria and then across the entire width of Russia, moving ever north and east (of course). Names on the markers are the nearest towns, though all spots are pretty much relative middle of nowhere.

That's a good list, but those cities are too far off. The coordinates should be right on top of almost all the cities. You might have to zoom in some more.

Also, one or two coordinates are a pixel off, I think.

Well, I used sixsided's list, and don't really have a clue how he got those, so... The only one that was dead on a city was the Italian (second) one. A lot were literally in the middle of nowhere. The Magnetogorsk was in the middle of a triangle formed by three towns. It was the largest.

While I was doing this I thought the initials of the city names might spell something, but nothing jumped out at me. Here are the cities I got in case someone else has a better eye...

Tahoua, Niger
Fogliano, Italy
Oberalm, Austria
Randbach, Austria
Doislau (Amstetten), Austria
Dolne Dubove, Slovakia
Jasanov, Slovaka
Alekseevka, Russia
Ritschevo, Russia
Nov Shustry, Russia
Magnetogorsk, Russia
Selezni, Russia
Oktyabr'skiy, Russia
Patrusheva, Russia
Nizhnevartovsk, Russia
Omchak, Russia
Sinegor'e, Russia
Khankan, Russia
Pevek, Russia

Here is the correct mapping, to speed things along. I have to admit I did make a mistake on the 12th coordinate (should be 560 instead of 556)

Speeding right along... Confused
Something to do with T. L. Heath?
If so, I can't find anything beyond the beginning "TLHEATH" part of the string.

Possibly something in the way of triplets for the remainder of the string?
Code:
"ART" "TVO" "TVO" "SEV"

ETA: Only connection I can find for Heath to the "Dan" clue was that he was "Dan"-ish.
Redacted after re-reading the bio. He was British.

You've divided it correctly. The fact that they're triplets is essentially irrelevant.

It's virtually impossible to find towns that start with the letter "W" in Russia.

So...
Dan's piece is "T. L. Heath 8227"?
(Assuming I've really divided it correctly" and "The fact that they're triplets is essentially irrelevant.").

The lack of intuitive links from one layer to the next is getting kinda frustrating.
