Tell you what, I'll (or anybody else who wants to) just keep posting silly little simple ones to fill the time till the next real one is posted.
If these interstitial ones don't get solved, it's no big deal. But if you post one, make sure it's fairly easy.

That said...

I'm liquidating most of my ferret collection.
I give 1/5 of it to pancito, then 1/4 of the remainder to retsbob999, then 1/10 of what's left to GreenWindmill, then 1/3 of the rest to sixsidedsquare, then 1/2 of the balance to Addlepated and finally, 2/3 of that remnant to MrToasty, leaving me with 3 ferrets.

How many ferrets did I have to start with?

Correct.
Do you have a puzzle ready, yet?

I'm looking around for a good one, so go ahead and keep these little ones coming if you want. If someone else finds a good big puzzle that they want to post, they can take my place.

Damn! Why did I have to say ferrets instead of giant killer robots?

(I apologize in advance)
(I also hope for everyone elses sake I haven't made a mistake)

One day Rogi decided to hold a Grand Ferret Festival. People came from all across the land to take part in the festival, for it was said that all the great Ferret Wranglers would be there and there was also promises of cake on the advertising fliers. Now the Ferret Festival had many ferret related events, but the most glorious of these was the Great Ferret Battle Tournament. The rules of the Tournament were simple: Any competitor could challenge another competitor, putting forward a number of ferrets to Do Battle. If they won the battle they gained as many ferrets as they put forward from the person they challenged and if they lost they had to give the person they challenged that many ferrets.

The results of the tournament were as follows:
Rogi challenged retsbob999 for 7 ferrets, retsbob999 challenged MrToasty for 2 ferrets, MrToasty challenged Addlepated for 3 ferrets, Addlepated challenged pancito for 8 ferrets, pancito challenged GreenWindmill for 1 ferret and GreenWindmill challenged sixsided square for 6 ferrets. Addlepated and Rogi won all their matches, sixsidedsquare and retsbob999 lost all their matches and the rest won one match and lost the other. Got all that?

Nearing the end of the tournament there was shock as it was found that sixsidedsquare had actually snuck an extra 2 ferrets into his group and was promptly disqualified. Soon after Rogi was also found to have snuck in an extra 1 into his group and he was disqualified too (although some speculated sixsidedsquare actually framed him to get him back for catching his cheating attempt earlier).

When all the matches had been decided everyone gathered in the Grand Ferret Stadium for the awards ceremony. However as the band began to play, they were abruptly stopped as the ground began to rumble and shake. Out from behind a nearby building emerged a Giant Killer Robot which headed right into the center of the Stadium.

"HA HA HA" boomed the voice of the Giant Killer Robot. "Little did you know, I rigged all of your matches in an elaborate scheme to give you warning before I steal your most prized possession. I'm just that devious."

Everyone looked up at the score board with horror as they realized what the Giant Killer Robot was about to do.

What is it that the Giant Killer Robot at the Ferret Festival takes?

Ok, first of all, pancito - give me back my ferret. Very Happy

Right, I was thinking the initial letters of the winners might spell somthing but the only thing that comes close would be ARG and that's before Rogi gets disqualified.

Can't work out what to do with the results following the disqualifications; presumably Rogi is stripped of their win and returns retsbob999's ferrets but I'm damned if I'm giving you back the ferrets I won before you were disqualified!!!

Is the answer that the robot will take the free cake offered on the fliers?!

Going on what GreenWindmill noticed...if you look at the first letter of all competitors not disqualified, you can spell "gramp". Kinda funny. Smile
