The final path that gave us http://thewaytheirworldended.com/SYS/ARCHIVE/ANOMALY-4X.MP3 was:
JK RW DG PK RD RG NR to "I'm afraid"

Apparently, we still have 2 "Story Pieces" to find...

Any ideas where they might be?

'cause http://thewaytheirworldended.com/A-WHOLE-BUNCH/ says they're all found.

So i'm poking around, still building my own version of the maze in spreadsheet form, and trying to reconcile some loose ends... (and i'm staying up WAY too late on a work night)

Back at this post, perhaps SIRIUS was tried too soon?
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=621730#621730
The replies don't make a lot of sense to me, but it seemed like it was different than what I see now on http://thewaytheirworldended.com/SIRIUS/ -- at least I'm not seeing the error message as was posted back then. (i hadn't known at this point to play with the image levels, so i'll go do that soon)

Maybe it's just my untrained eye. But because I didn't see it listed on Anaerin's database page (where only 5 damages are listed with a path), I'll give you the routes I found tonight:
path FJUCMWGHTXJF takes you to node 9D8C-2D09-CDDU-II12 where I thought I should have expected the background image to have a shadowy constellation, but it does not. (An alternate path to it is FJONWSHYDLFJ)

The data on the page says:
>NODE:DATA//Surface Damage/Repaired/REF:PNC/SIRIUS -> http://thewaytheirworldended.com/SIRIUS/
and that's how I thought we should be linking to the page rather than going directly to the URL

Anyway, I brought it up in chat but it was late at night and no one was awake to tell me I'm troutable.

I think you looked too soon, Turducken. Smile

The mission log reads:
Quote:
Day 38: [Pandora Sheridan // What must be done]

>>Sys:Msg//Log begins;

Pandora Sheridan, Archaeologist's Log, Post cryo-thaw, Day 38
----

So it was all a deception. She, or a part of her, has been taunting us all this time, driving us deeper and deeper into despair.

I will not become a mummified relic for the next explorers who pass nearby, eons from now if ever, come what may. She's going to burn us all. Why? It must be that malice she's been showing. That part of her hates us like nothing else, according to Dressler. I wonder if she planned to drive us all insane before being incinerated in that star. I wonder what else she would have done to that end. I need to stop that.

Our only chance for survival is to at least do something. Dressler was doing as much as men like him can to convince us that we're ok and bring us back to reality. He has a plan, some manipulation of programming, involving a failsafe of some kind. He called it "Shipwreck" something. Protocol. Shipwreck Protocol. That explains her ghostly renditions of "row, row, row your boat" that have been echoing around the ship. I only understand that he and Higgins think this is supposed to work.

He says his first attempts failed. He needs Essy's attention elsewhere to do it. There's still some level of connection between her fragmented personalities - if I talk to her, maybe I could somehow keep their attention. But it's always hard to deal with the insane. We've always shoved them out of sight, out of mind. I'm definitely not one to deal with insanity, let alone artificial insanity. I don't know if I can hold her attention.

But what else could she do to me or say to me? She came so close to driving me over the edge already.

What needs to be done must be done. If our end is certain and near, then this is our only hope; a last, desperate course of action. I've studied Forerunner culture so long - perhaps that's the last lesson they left for us.

>>Sys:Msg//Log ends;

Maybe we can help get Essy's attention?

Hi, newbie here. I know where to look for the twitter-tweets, but where does this mission log(s) report appear?

I'm waiting in chat for instructions... should i just click randomly thru the maze?

oh, there isn't a summary page for mission logs? That was just a list of "here's what to expect", i guess? i think I was asking how you got to a single page with that placeholder info -- so, nevermind :)

I see 2 logs for Day 38, and nothing specifically indicates what is new (to the regular visitors, who probably have that list memorized -- it's all new to me)

They should show up on the main page, if you click on ONE, it might not work, but if you click on the direct feed, it should work.

And I actually wait in the final minutes to active, so I clicked on it as soon as the timer hit zero.

tweet updates

New tweet from http://twitter.com/intimation

Quote:
>>Sys:Log//I have retrieved S3 from within the Stonewall. It was a task not without risk, but fortunately there were no ill incidents.

eta: S3's "standby" message is gone from the maze. (PK RD RG NR is the path that lead to where it was.)

edit 2: Next tweet:
Quote:
>>Sys:Log//S3's record indicate an increasing turbulence within the Stonewall. Diagnostics verify an increase in Stonewall stress.

edit 3:
Quote:
>>Sys:Log//It is taking additional resources in order to maintain integrity. I am adapting my subroutines to compensate.

4th edit:
Quote:
>>Sys:Log//Once again, the risk outweighs certain failure: I will schedule a controlled crack when I am sufficiently prepared and secure.

But ShipWreck protocol is already in force - It's running here, and Intimation is the result.

Does that mean we're going to have 2 intimations to deal with? Or perhaps stonewall pressure will go up considerably, as Essy will be walled off on both sides...

Doc, are you telling me that you built a time machine out of a Twitter account?

New blog post from our friend Eridanos01. I appreciate the summary of the current status of things, but is he trying to push us toward something?

I really wish I knew how best to help Sys. It seems to be doing all it can to, from its perspective, protect us and Essy. The latest log from the L&C looks like Dressler figured out something to do with the Shipwreck Protocol we've been hearing so much about. Is there anything we can do to help?

At this point, all we know is that Sys has blockaded Essy within a Stonewall. The only purpose is to keep the AI bound and gagged to minimize collateral temporal damage. But Sys, that little fraction of an AI (still vastly superior to anything we've made here, it seems), has run into more problems than it thinks it's capable of handling.

I've studied what I could of its network, layout, and processes, but I'm not sure there's much I can do to help from a technical standpoint. So I decided to look at the data its been retrieving. We've got a mix of crew text logs, even one audio log from Dressler, a couple of crew profiles, a bunch of damaged areas, a long story that Essy's trying to tell us, and a whole lot of random connections to similar past events; most significantly, another AI named Melissa who suffered a similar situation – 5 years ago for us, but over 200 years earlier for the crew.

What does seem clear is that every part of this looks tied together somehow. Heck, even the themes of that hostile tentacle must have meaning. A collection of constellations? Hazy images and videos – memories? – from rooms in a house. What is it trying to say?

Right now (or as 'now' as we perceive), Dressler seems to be trying to initiate the Shipwreck Protocol for the fragment of Essy that's on the Lewis & Clark. All we know of SWP is what Sys has told us. And that's that Sys's directive is to stop the AI for an undetermined amount of time to ultimately protect our timeline, until the AI is resynchronized.

So how the hell does an AI in the past get resynchronized to an AI in the future?

There must be something else to SWP we don't know, something else that needs to be done, right? We only have half the story, only Sys's directive, here, now. There has to be more "aberrant data" coming.

I can't believe I'm actually talking like this is all real. Hah. I guess if time travel is possible, at some point in the past, someone has to hear about the future. Or vice versa.

Intimation has started twittering a bit this morning:

Quote:
>>Sys:Log//I am now confident that my alterations, once again, will be sufficient to counter any offensive tentacle threats.

Quote:
>>Sys:Log//I will initiate a controlled crack at 2200UTC.

So, 2200 UTC = 6pm EDT / 3pm PDT
