I assume so: "people and places long gone... they cared about me..."

So, correct me if I'm way off base, but I'm thinking that Dreaming Eyes (whose real name was Naira) was put through the process that turns her into an AI. This AI was Essy. Pandora purchased (or commissioned, or whatever you do with AIs) Essy, with the full knowledge of where she came from.

I'm sure you guys already discussed this in chat or that you've been aware of this for like weeks, haha, but since I don't know that much about the Haloverse, I just wanted to double check. I know earlier someone had said something along the lines of how it would have been impossible to harvest an AI from a little girl, but I'm not so sure that that's the case.

In theory I think you would be able to manufacture smart AIs from anyone (including children). Just that you would need a really smart person to make a good AI.

Another new mission log, Noah Dressler this time (not to be confused with Noah the missing kid/skull)...

No, you are way on base (if that makes sense to say). Look for Alexis Ward's audio logs on the wiki. Pandora had little money to spend on an AI and asked Ward to look for something "on the cheap". Then Ward took Essy from the black market, apparently.

By the way, the part on the wiki that says "[something sometimewhydoessheswallowherwords? something]"...I think the very last part might say "Go with peace, Essy!".

I think maybe we *seem* like a dream, but us being "long gone" just means we're people from the past, and in her actual time, we're dead and dust.

That "jump" would be due to the fact that the crew returned to cryogenic sleep for the remainder of the voyage, in case anyone hasn't figured it out...oh, and he was presumably busy for a little while capturing and nuking the scorpion, too, as well as listening to Sacagawea tell her story.

It does look like we're getting very close to the end, but we're not quite there; Sys still has to actually integrate and Eridanos still has to reveal his "project."

There's another new log:

http://thewaytheirworldended.com/missionlog34.php

BUT the link seems to be broken, as it doesn't lead anywhere.

EDIT:
catherwood pointed out that the text is on the RSS feed:

Noah Dressler, Engineering Log, 81 days post cryomelt, Orbit
----

It's good to thaw like normal. Yeah, I was worried, despite all the checking I did.

Oh, and the falling dream ended while I slept this time. I managed, somehow, to land on my feet and turn toward the horizon. The stars had disappeared, and I wanted to see if I could get the stars to start shining again. Such naive hope.

We've all been awakened. It was not uneventful. Dr. Higgins discovered a small virus that was working its way to the cryo system before Pandora and I had been thawed. He wiped it in time, thankfully, and may well have saved our lives. Ironic. Last time we awoke after it hit. This time, we awoke just in time.

Higgins and Sheridan are excited about the planet we're orbiting. Despite all that's happened, they're still hungry for more. Even Essy seems a little thrilled, at least in part because she's whole again. It was hard on her, for sure, if not the hardest. But she'll soon be planetside, with a whole new world to explore.

I'm just happy the ship's functioning well again. We all sat down together to discuss things and try to understand what exactly happened during our voyage. Essy explained a lot. A whole lot. I haven't quite digested all the implications outlined in this Shipwreck Protocol archive, but there were so many factors involved in this - Essy's troubled past, a rare forerunner artifact's disruption of slipspace, a foreign embedded viral entity... no wonder this is such a rare event. I guess there's a couple of ways of looking at it - a random coincidence, or this was all part of some bigger picture. I hope this isn't revenge from someone I hurt in the future!

I'm prepping transport for the trio right now. They didn't like my joke about a malfunctioning system and having to resort to an orbital drop. Now is not the best time to joke about them playing ODST.
I, however, plan on staying on board and keeping an eye on things. It looks like their trip should go smoothly, but by the way things appear down there, it's a big mess.

Maybe, after a while, I'll go see what the fuss is about. I look at these readings and see a world of broken and forgotten things and... I don't know why, but I've got an itch to fix it all, even if nothing can really be fixed.

One thing's for sure though - the view from up here is breathtaking.
