Here's the list of cities where the gps treasure hunts are set up, and their starting points:

Central Park New York : From the 107th
St Louis : From Broadway and Convention
Toronto Ontario : From the city center
Las Vegas : From the hotel of fountains (The Bellagio, I assume)
Golden Gate Park California: From the carousel

So far halo422mjk and Nyst will play NYC and St. Louis respectively. Is there anyone able to cover Toronto, Las Vegas, and Golden Gate Park?

eta: and coffeegirl18 possible for Toronto.

I've got Toronto for sure. I've got to do a few things there (appartment-wise) and it's a day out for me and the parents. My laptop is now a GPS machine! Very Happy

I'll be going sometime this week as a day out. My dad loves treasure hunts and coding as well so it should be fun.

There is this book that I love called House of Leaves. It is a story within a story within a story, possibly all contained within another story. But the upshot is, it is about a house that is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.

There is one segment in the book where there is a block of text on each page listing what materials the walls of this house are not made of.

As it happens, this segment goes on for many, many pages.

In fact, there are a whole lot of materials that are not contained in the walls of that house. Some may find this terrifying, but personally, I find it a comfort.

April 9th Updates: The crew isolate themselves
Sacagawea and the crew need saving

Tweet log:

Quote:
Sys:Log//I have been analyzing S's previous hiding attempt. In her period outside the crack, she managed to create a game before hiding.

Sys:Log//I am uncertain if I should be concerned with the amount of freedom I am giving her, having also demonstrated a violent episode.

Sys:Log//Observation indicates that the game S created has received little activity. The CP location [BROKEN-PIECES] remains unchanged.

Sys:Log//Curiosity betrays me. I cannot leave the Stonewall, and even if I could, her tasks are beyond my ability to complete.

Sys:Log//I will once again schedule a controlled crack initiation for 2100UTC. Perhaps S will offer some assistance.

After reading the Mission log at http://thewaytheirworldended.com/missionlog15.php and learning that the crew is ill, I sent a tweet to intimation...

Quote:
@intimation : Please do whatever you can to help Drs. Sheridan, Higgins, and Dressler.

Intimation is very response, and sent a direct message, which resulted in this exchange. (Short version: Sys can only do so much. I don't have a cell phone. They need saving.)

Direct messages:
Quote:
Sys:Msg>@drizjr//I am quite limited in my ability. I will continue to do what I can for the survival of S and her crew.
Sys:Msg>@drizjr//Your assistance is also invaluable in helping me and my task to save S. Have you progressed with S's hiding game?

me: Unfortunately, I don't have the technology to participate in S's hiding game, but I've been doing what I can to encourage others to play.

Sys:Msg>@drizjr//Is the technological capability of this era not sufficient?

me: The technology is sufficient. Most people possess the necessary equipment to complete the task. I happen to be one of the few that don't.

Sys:Msg>@drizjr//That is unfortunate. Are you able to communicate with others who have the technical capability?

me: Yes. I am

Sys:Msg>@drizjr//That is a good thing. Perhaps they will be willing to help.

I'm guessing the "violent episode" was the scorpion stuff from two weeks ago, but I asked "What violence did Essy commit?" for clarification. Just waiting now to hear a reply.

Direct messages via twitter from intimation picked up from where it left off last night:

Quote:
@intimation I understand that the crew is ill, and the AI fragmented. What violence did Essy commit?

Sys:Msg>@drizjr//I do not have access to S's history. The violent tentacle that breached the crack previously, however, is one indication.

@intimation Indication of what exactly.... early rampancy?

Sys:Msg>@drizjr//I do not know the origin of S's alternate tentacle. SWP indicates fracturing may be a factor for rampancy. It is unclear.

@intimation Perhaps I misunderstood. Are you suggesting that S's history is a violent one?

Sys:Msg>@drizjr//S is a smart, shipboard AI. There is no evidence to suggest that she would have had violent tendencies.

@intimation That's good to know. Essy asked me a couple of questions at [BROKEN PIECES], maybe rhetorical, but the short answer to both is no :@ & Smile

Sorry for the triple post.
This was a direct message from intimation:
Quote:
Sys:Msg>@drizjr//Do you currently know of any individuals who are able to carry out S's tasks?

How's it going with the gps missions? Anyone?

Here are more public tweets:
Quote:
Sys:Log//I have been researching examples of efforts taken by Melissa's crew in recruiting people to join their efforts.

Sys:Log//Most commonly, many individuals would share the strange set of events with their closer friends and acquaintances.

Sys:Log//Given the unusual nature of these events, taking place in this era of humanity, that was not always an easy task.

Sys:Log//One exceptional effort was made, however, which received an enormous amount of attention.

Sys:Log//Note:SYS/NVZ9-0SE6-98HJ-G3K4 stored at primary network tentacle. The lengths some people went to inform the public is impressive.

http://thewaytheirworldended.com/SYS/NVZ9-0SE6-98HJ-G3K4/ which is about the I Love Bees poster shown on TV during a 2004 presidential debate.

eta:
Quote:
Sys:Log//135 minutes to crack initiation.

I registered at the site, but my phone is not GPS-capable. Sad

Actually most phones today are GPS capable. My RAZR V3, is GPS capable, it's disabled in the configuration offered by most carriers. Your phone may very well be GPS capable, but may require hacking the phone to enable it.
