RE: [TRAILHEAD] Intimation
Garbled datastream

At first I thought it was Base64 encoding, but trying to decode it as base64 resulted in something even more garbled. So I don't think that's it.

Each group of characters is 11 characters long and there are 8 blocks in each message. Each block contains both upper and lower case, as well as numbers and symbols (sounds like a strong password! Smile) The 8 groups makes me think of the bit place values in a byte (1s, 2s, 4s, 8s, 16s, 32s, 64s, and 128s) but I can't think of how the 11 characters per group fit into that.

i too thought it was base64 as it really fits the pattern of using ascii to represent it

eta: all together there are 16 strings with 11 characters each. I think each string decodes into one character to be used in this fasion xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx as the end part of the url....

but how to decode or degarble

Garbled datastream

In hopes we might get more clues to help us decipher it, I sent Intimation the following DM:

If it is some form of ASCII encoding, then the charts at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASCII might prove useful.

So much for that idea. At least we have the chunks.

I believe we have a bit of a dilemma on our hands. Do we go against Essie's wishes and tell Intimation where her "tentacle" is, or do we keep quiet about it, perhaps stating we are stumped by this particular puzzle...

RE: [TRAILHEAD] Intimation
Who to trust?

In the past, when on the trail of the tentacle control point there would be text on each page stating something to the effect of CP NOT FOUND, or when we found CP FOUND TENTACLE RETRACTED or somesuch. We've not seen such text in the links to the puzzle blocks or the solution boxes, nor have we seen anything of the sort at /READY-OR-NOT/. Since Essy has asked that we not share these links with Sys, I vote we do not.

Another thing to consider is that the DON'T TRUST HER came inside the firewall, on a tentacle that attacked Sys. To me, that implies that Sys is the one we should be leery of at this stage.

Then what do we tell Intimation?

That we haven't located the control point yet, (which doesn't strike me as an untruth with the Garbled Stream puzzle unsolved) and that analysis of the garbled data streams is ongoing.

(Re-posting from IRC) I've sent the following:
Anaerin publicly wrote:
@intimation S has given us a whole series of clues, 3D models that make a physical object. We are in the process of building these models.
@intimation Once we have built the object, we should then be able to use other clues given to us to decode a message and give us a location.
@intimation Analysis of the garbled datastream is also ongoing, but thus far nowhere near any kind of decoding.

We've not finished decoding the cross yet, there's at least two more views.

The question is, who shouldn't we trust? Intimation? Sacagawea? I'm thinking as it was a tentacle from inside (Sacagawea) it's Intimation we shouldn't trust. But from the looks of the images that tentacle provided, perhaps it's a sleeping Sacagawea having a "Nightmare" (Or whatever AIs do). Are we dealing with a third persona?

i think the real question is wtf do these decode to:

HX39+fn6+vI AAMe+IAAB/g gICAgIBDR0Q c39/fnzwAAA gAA8yJgwMDA AIDA4T8A4B8 qDAhAQMDAwE JicTCQQDAAA

gpKKCQkNDQ0 H+AfeODC7Pg CQkPB2Ji5KQ QUFCgoOCgIA 5AQIECDAAAA AAADBAgQICA +AcABAYDAQE AADAIBAIBIQ

no one has solved them yet and we're being distracted by thoughts of whom we are to trust when we don't even have any information to trust anyone with. theres got to be someother form of decoding besides base64

realistically though how much longer do u think this game will last if we don't tell intimation everything we learn. Essy has only been contacting us thro intimation so unless that changes we're basically left with one option.

just noticed in the latest MSG//LOG, S says

http://thewaytheirworldended.com/missionlog16.php
"Death lingers on their minds, so it has come to linger on mine."

i also noticed this line repeat in the SYS/LOG under Note 4 in the Red text
"Detecting minor signal corrup--->>S:Unk//Death lingers on their minds, so it has come to linger on mine---tion. ERR/Cannot trace."
http://thewaytheirworldended.com/SYS/LOG/

nothing significant, just thought it was interesting

At this point, it seems a little more prudent to keep some of Essy's more important tentacles hidden.

Did anyone understand what Essy said in the Sys:Log?
"I've got a new game for you! I guess my last one was too hard, so I'm re-hiding some pieces!"
"Not all of them though, only a few. This game needs teamwork, but I bet you won't finish it and find me too! :@)"

"Last one was too hard" - It was indeed. We were stuck with a long list of letters until it was finally decoded not an hour before re-activation. And not only that, the task she set BEFORE then (The GPSMission) is still unattempted at this time.

"Not all of them, though" - There are still pieces (at broken-pieces) missing. So we still have pieces to find before we know the whole story.
