[PUZZLE][SPEC] Map of Central Park

Thanks to Larval's brilliant suggestion

Ok... not sure if I'm seeing patterns where there aren't any, or forcing New York to fit my expectations, but:

We might be looking in Central Park. Here's what I've found; feel free to prove me wrong (see images below).

Ok here's my interpretation, in a google map that should be editable by everyone:

it appears we have a new dead drop.

The thumbprint lines up with central park's baseball fields

And the video's treasure hunter is digging outside a baseball field

"I hope you're not planning to dig THERE, treasure hunter"

This drop may be on New Years at the strike of midnight. Maybe it's a New Years party?

I still don't think it means anyone has to be somewhere at midnight.

I know I'd rather be out celebrating than looking for a fennel bulb picture in the park somewhere.

I doubt it will be at midnight, as there is a massive parade/run in the park on january 1, 2009 from 12am-1am.
Quote:
Midnight Run
Date(s): January 01, 2009
Time(s): 12:00 AM - 1:00 AM
Description: Usher in 2009 in style with a four mile fun run featuring dancing, costumes, fireworks and more!

Also, I don't advise walking in the park with a shovel or other gardening tool, as it is listed in the 'rules & regulations'.
Quote:
#4. No person shall possess any tools commonly used for gardening, or any plant, tree, shrub or other vegetation, in any park except where such possession is specifically designated to be permissible by the Commissioner.

"I hope you're not planning to dig there," (here's where Terry Nanny tilts his head toward the ground of what appears to be a Baseball field) "Treasure Hunter."

Ah, someone already covered that line. What I think we may be missing then, is a time of day on Jan 1st...

Perhaps the treasure hunter himself will be there at some point that day, eheh. A dead drop in such an open, public place doesn't make much sense, but having an actual person there to meet people does. We can only assume there's one more piece to this puzzle coming up.

Well that's interesting. I've been doubting all along that anything would happen right at the stroke of midnight... until you just explained why YOU think nothing will happen right at the stroke of midnight =P

I've been trying to place the meaning of "A Long Walk", the third graph. If they're all connected, this might POSSIBLY mean something.

Soooo, bring a spoon?

I doubt we'll have to dig at all. It will probably be under a rock/base or in a treasure chest or little green sarcophagus or something obvious. I don't think they'd ask us to do anything illegal/immoral. But bring a spoon just in case Wink

Unless the NY drop comes before Jan. 1, and gives a clue to that table and then everything comes together on the first?

Hmm I didn't even think about that 'long walk'. Razz I guess it's possible. With this thing anything is possible it seems. hah.

I just looked up Central Park Events and found that by narrowing down the date in case anyone else wants to have a look.

Also: the maps of the park for others interested and specifically the map of our Green Lawn.

It might be impossible to dig in New york on January 1st. If the ground freezes, we're going to have to be putting in serious effort. I would put my money on someone or something big being there.

It should also be noted that we have no confirmation of any DROP yet. It's still speculation as to what will happen there, and when. Assuming this even IS the place we're looking for.

Point being- don't run out with your shovels half-cocked Smile In fact... just leave all digging tools at home. You'll get yourself in trouble mighty quick that way.

That January 1st 2009 unix timestamp may have been midnight, but often, in computing, you use Greenwich Mean Time (also known as UTC) if you want to specify something independent of the time zone. So January 1st 2009 midnight UTC occurs in Manhattan on December 31st at 7 pm.

Heartily seconded!
