I'm fairly new to the whole arg thing, but does this mean there will be no activity till the summer when the show starts? Or will there be content leading up to the show?

I sent an email to thea(at)breathewith.me

asking if they needed any assistance with breathing, or somthing lame like that, just to see if id get an anwser. I wasnt really expecting one. but I got it Smile

"Hello (My name),

I don't usually answer unsolicited emails, but how would you like to help?

Do you play?

Where are you based, I'm in London at the moment.

xothea"

Edit: I relplied:

Thea,

I got your email about being a thrill seeker and understanding danger. And thought you may be in trouble. If you need help with anything, like perhaps solving some sort of mystery, or anything else I would be glad to offer my assistance.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Do you play?" But I am based in the United States right now.

Hope to hear from you soon.

-Mike

Hope I said the right thing. Smile

I just checked my inbox and found a reply to my email:

Isn't it funny how something we don't even conciously do affects us so greatly? The loss of breath means the loss of life and you don't even realize it until you are placed in a situation where you are faced with the loss of your breath.

Hmmm. I've been thinking about your email, since I got it. I can hold my breath for 3 minutes 49 seconds, my thoughts are clear, my hand steady, I slip into a world of calmness, my heartbeat sounds like a bass drum pounding away.

How long can you hold yours, and how does it feel?

xothea

Someone has plans with keywords like: "extended reality, Alternate Reality Game, music, fashion, nitrous, murder"

Nitrous oxide is laughing gas. It is inhaled recreationally, and too much of it can kill by displacing the oxygen that you normally breathe. So it would be possible to "murder" someone with "nitrous".

Yaha, tranceform, and welcome to uF also. Waitng with bated breath for this one. Twisted Evil

The recreational use seems to involve "dares" on the duration one can hold one's breathe which "xothea" inquires about in Ziola's email above. Reckon there's a few cunning ways to make a death appear accidental with nitrous. Scary.

Well, it seems like Thea and I are striking up quite the little friendship. After her last email, I sent this off to her;

Quote:
I honestly haven't tried holding my breath for any length of time since I was a child. But I know that it was nowhere near as long as you can. Perhaps I'll give it a whirl again this week and let you know.

Do you do it for that feeling of calm?

<3 Zi

To which I recieved this today:

Quote:
Hey Zi,

Hope you don't mind me calling you "Zi"

I've never thought of it that way. I mainly do it in the company of friends, it's one of our games, but I do know it's dangerous. Be careful, accidents do happen sometimes.

K is a master at this stuff, but I trust him more than anyone else in the world.

xothea

Has anyone else heard from her lately?

ETA: I sent a message back to her yesterday and got a response today. Turn-around time seems to be picking up.

My message:

Quote:
Hi Thea,

Of course you can call me Zi. I don't mind at all. Is Thea short for something?

Holding your breath is one of the games you all play? I'm almost afraid to ask what else you think is fun. I have to be honest and say I tried holding my breath for a long time this past weekend and I pretty much failed at it. I got a little over a minute and then started giggling over something I read online. It was all done after that. Of course, I don't think the martini's I had earlier helped with getting rid of my giggles. Silly me.

Who's K? A relative? Your boyfriend? Best friend? I hope you don't mind me asking. I'm just a curious person. If it helps, I can tell you about myself before you tell all. Just let me know.

Take care, dear.

<3 Zi

Today's response:

[/quote]Hi Zi,

Thea is my real name. Surprising, but true. I can't say that holding breath and martini's is a great combination, but I am sure it rocked, I must try that sometime. Holding breath for a long time takes practice. It gets better each time try, honest. There is a pain threshold, but that should be easy, as they say "no pain, no gain..."

K is my man. I can't talk about him, as he doesn't like it. But this about me... I live and work in London, which is a great place - in summer! No I joke, it is lovely. I have good friends, and the social scene rocks. We have a few parties planned in the coming months, you should come out to play. I'll send you an invitation. And yes, I do love to dance.

xothea

There's an interesting interview with Yomi Ayeni about this at Culture Hacker.

If that doesn't sound like an invitation for a live event, I don't know what does.

Just got this today

Quote:
Hi Zi,

it's my favourite time of the year... Weather isn't too bad, and we're gearing up for a great autumn.

First up is the Thursday Social, a workshop by an expert in the world of interactive storytelling, which takes place at Power to the Pixel's Cross-Media Film Forum / BFI London Film Festival on October 14th. Thursday Social have partnered with Power to the Pixel to give you an insight into the world of interactive make-believe.

I am also happy to announce "A Night for Xcess" Masked Ball, co-hosted with Pleasure Principled on October 16th, in London. The colour code is RED and the theme is Debauchery.

Tickets will be online soon, and if my previous parties are anything to go by, you know it's going to be fun... Check out the pictures on the House of Wheat website for inspiration.

Work hard, but play harder and if in doubt join the fun @breathewith

Thea
