More info from Dengo:

If we fail, I'll be demoted too. I'll be stuck here worst of all, because I know the most. I probably never will be able to leave, ever.
There's no "final test", but there will be a trial period, where we take over EMA for one month. We are evaluated throughout the month by several people, but if Farren decides not to let us pass, everyone one else will probably do what he wants.

The financial backers know exactly what's going on. That's why they back us. EMA "helps them out."
AUZ505 wrote:

I do not want to tell you waht you are thinking and waht you should do.
I just wanted to let you know that I can understand your situation.

If your group fail, will it "only" be the cat As or will it also be you who will be demoted?
If in case of success you will take over EMA I fear that Farren does not want you to be successful.
Will there be some final tests and when?

I do not know much about EMA, but it seems they do also bad things. So the actual situation is not only bad for you or the cats it is also a dangerous situation for the whole world.

What about the financial backers you mentioned. Do they know about all the things EMA does? Or could they help you?

Just keep on. I think you are doing a great job.

@ Victor

Nics has the answers from the pictures, on an email she just said:
Nics wrote:

Yeah,
Pali told me what you guys came up with.
Well, it fits the pictures, but obviously it's not what I want to hear.
Clearly the Shakespearean letter got somewhere.
I don't care about a "great risk." It's my father, and I'm going to keep in contact with him.
I'll try the Shakespeare address again, since it worked the first time.

New update on Pali's blog. She found the letter Nic's wrote her father and it had never been mailed, so she thinks someone at EMA sent the picture puzzle or that Nic's father is at EMA.

Back to Paulo and the hookah, I told him I didn't remember why he needed the hookah so urgently
Quote:
Paulo,
Have you told me why you need the hookah so urgently? Seems like I have forgotten.
Ahmed

He replied with this
Quote:
Ahmed,

I didn't tell you. We don't tend to inform each other of everything we do, do we?
But since I am involving you in this, I will let you know.
Once again, smoking has proved an ideal time for networking.
I am meeting the Prime Minister of Estonia.
It's common knowledge he likes exotic ways of smoking tobacco - and you know the first rule of diplomacy is distract the person you're talking to with something they like.
Paulo.

I think the financial backers are the reason why Farren would let a group succeed - they have quite a lot of power.
It is possible that they could ensure we succeed, or, offer Farren an alternate arrangement that would mean he would want us to succeed.
Unfortunately, I don't know who they are.
AUZ505 wrote:

I see.
But I do not understand, why Farren should ever let a group succeed. In this case he will "loose" his position.
I am sorry, but I think you will never get control over EMA the official way.

How many financial backers does EMA have? Good they be the "weak point" of the system?

The Triangle - Background Information

Wanted to know if the financial backers and the Traingle are the same:

Got those replies from Dengo and Jib:

Dengo wrote:

Ah, the famous triangle.
I've never met them, but I've heard a lot about them.
EMA would hit a lot of road blocks without them.
AUZ505 wrote:

Have you ever heard form three persons named "The Triangle"?

Since before he stated that he does not know the financial backers it is clear that the Triangle are not the "money people"

Jib wrote:

No problem man.
The triangle are kind of all rounders. They "remove" miles of red tape, can get EMA first preference as suppliers of and caretakers for natural resources for governments, etc.
They bring in a bit of the cash, but most of the financial backers aren't government, they're private companies.
They don't need to be paid by EMA, because they get cash from their positions as civil servants. EMA offers them POWER - much more than your average civil servant could hope to wield.
AUZ505 wrote:

Thanks for the information. This was helpful.

But I think we need more background information about the triangle.
What exaclty is their functionality as the powerbase.
Are these the financial backers?
Or are they paid by EMA for their work. In this case what is their work?

You have been selected to proceed to the second and final round of the application process.

Please complete the following, and return as soon as possible:

Application Round 2

Reference Number:

Please answer the following questions with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

12. I tend to sympathize with other people
13. Staying somewhere for too long can have negative effects
14. I tend to be general and figurative. I use metaphors and analogies.

16. I tend to be unbiased and direct when I analyze people's problems, even if this might hurt their sensitivities.
17. I am better at thinking of overall ideas and plans than working out the practical details
18. Personal values and people are important to me than principals and rules
19. I value imagination and innovation over realism and common sense
20. If it works fine, then there is no reason to change it.

Lot of emails

I received a lot of emails:

Pali wrote:

Hey!

Just writing to let you know I'm going on another "excursion"!
We're going to Singapore (Me, Nics, and Kite)!
Kite is looking at some technology thing, I'm meeting some government people, and Nics is just sort of getting dragged along.
Tom A and Dengo have gone off to the USA! I'm not really sure what they're going to do there. They're going to Oregon.
I'm going for three days.
Could you tell the other people who email me I'll be away?
It's way to dangerous to take the laptop with me.
I wish I didn't have to be away from the internet so long, but... real life's a bastard hey?
Anyway, I'm leaving tomorrow.
So I'll talk to you when I get back, if not today!
Thanks,

[META]Seems like there will be a short break in this game! [/META]

Dengo wrote:

I just have heard a lot about the things they've done for EMA.
And the people they've blackmailed/bribed/had imprisoned.
I don't know if they could change things at EMA.
They seem pretty loyal to Farren.
But not to each other!
Apparently, the American one and the European one hate each other.
Get this - some bill was supposed to be going through parliament in America that EMA wanted passed. The American triangle guy was supposed to "organise" it all, but he was at a movie!
Luckily the bill got passed anyway, or he wouldn't still have his job.
But since then, they've been at each others throats apparently.
As far as I can tell, they're bastards, but important bastards.
AUZ505 wrote:

What about them. Do you think they could be used to change things at EMA?
What do you know about them?

At least now we know a little bit more about the Triangle

Paulo wrote:

Ahmed,
I'd rather not talk about it over email.
I'll let you know at the Good-Will Gala.
Paulo.

Paulo,
If the hookah is just distraction what is the focus of your meeting?

Dead end!?

Ahmed,

I'm sorry, I don't think I ever got back to you.
I swear I wrote an email, but it didn't send.
Hotmail does not like me.
For your information, I do not hold a PhD in Ecology, my PhD is in ecohydrology.
The two have less in common than you would think.
You don't need to remind me what's going in in Tanzania, I am well informed.
I don't know why it should suddenly concern you, considering Djibouti is currently much more worrying:

Sorry I do not see the relation between the gala and Singapore.
Since Pali has written:

But what we know for sure: Pali will not respond to emails on the next days.
Maybe only the PM who is repsonsible for these characters will be away.

I did the EMA application too and I actually got cat. E status Smile
These are the emails I got from EMA:

Quote:
We were very impressed with your reply for round one of the application process.
We are recommending you for remote category E status.
You have been removed from the regular application process, and your answers are being reviewed by Farren personally.
Expect to hear from us soon.
Congratulations.

Quote:
Congratulations,
Your application has been reviewed by Farren, and he has granted you remote category E status.
Farren said the following:
"The applicant displays keen observation and advanced research skills. They also display a serious commitment to EMA. They will make an excellent addition to EMA."
If you are willing to accept this opportunity, please reply to this email as soon as possible.

Quote:
Great to have you on board.

We're going to jump straight into business, with your first task.

There is a terrorist organisation, that is currently threatening to destroy EMA.
They go under the name of SPEA - the Society for the Promotion of Evil Acts.
As with any terrorist organisation, their activities are wide spread and anonymous.
The only way to stop this brutal terrorist group is to locate and individually apprehend its members.

We have been lucky enough to be able to intercept some emails sent by members of the terrorist group over the last month.
These are attached in the text file.
Your job is to search through these emails for clues as to the location, or personal real life details (age, name, etc.) of any of the members of SPEA.

Good luck, and please let us know as soon as possible.

The SPEA mails are added as an attachment

Also, I searched this baseball site:
http://www.baseball-reference.com
and I found -although I can't make head nor tail of all those baseball statistics- Willie Mays
Does anyone think that might be possible? He has a statue.

Well, in any case, before I reply we should really make sure who are the bad guys here.
