I've tried looking at the code as braille, but even when I rotate the image, after one or two letters, the next cell isn't an actual character.

*frustrated

eta: New thought - Mirror writing? What would this code look like if held up to a mirror? Jon can't see his reflection in the mirror. SHould we be able to see the code in a mirror?

I think with the responses to my comments on the blog, it has pretty quickly established the mind frame, and type of individuals we're dealing with.

This is gonna get good.

According to the blog, we've got rats, Cammy's, attry's and Malkies. Thinking that we're referencing the Masquerade, we have Nosferatu, Camarilla, Malkavian, and antitribu.

"Don" is possibly antitribu. Marko and the woman, however, may be Daeva clan, which is a clan that is known for the power of seduction. If they've turned Jon into a vamp, he would also be Daeva.

It is also possible that Jon was already made into a vamp as in blog "b" they were talking about someone being "fifth generation" and being a timebomb. "a" and "b" appear to have taken place before "1" and "2."

Now that I've thoroughly confused even myself...

Still can't figure out the code. Meh.

The code has given me an absolute headache at this point. I'm sure everyone has had a crack it by now - trying to convert it to binary .. then from there to hexadecimal, decimal, morse .. trying to figure out where the morse goes etc.

We're obviously missing something - maybe it just hasn't been provided yet?

@ JonahFalcon - I've always thought it'd be interesting to meet a vampire Laughing

Yeah, I see a Bible verse from the book of Jonah (posted by "yochanan" - is that one of us?), which seemed to meet with the approval of someone called The Other. Are you saying the binary decodes to the Bible verse?

Don't look at me - I thought I'd only be lurking. Well, I'll be unhelpful instead and just make snarky comments every so often.

Smashing. Rolling Eyes Laughing

In other news, "yochanan" turns out to be the Hebrew form of "John". So this may not be a player...

I doubt the ARG would solve the puzzle themself.

yochanan revealed the answer:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Petunia - yes… the hint is given in the text above. There are 21 bits per line, so put them in groups of 7. Each group can be converted into a decimal number, which then can be translated with an ascii table.

Out of curiosity, I tried to find this "yochanan" by searching with the name and vampires. It came up with some interesting results - but nothing useful so far as I could see. However, the name is the Hebrew version of John - and apparently, there was a somewhat famous Rabbi Yochanan in history. I didn't research him much - but strange he came up while in a search including vampires.

==EDIT==

I figured this might happen with a name like John - so take your pick:

So Jonah (Jon could be short for that, I guess) is to be a sacrifice? Shocked

Other observations:

Blog posts:
a - Dec. 27
b - Dec. 20
So the conversation between Marko and Don happened a week before the attempted seduction (of Jon, I assume). In light of that, Jon would not have been a vampire yet when the conversation in b took place... so the fifth-generation "time bomb" could be somebody else? It also means the "code", assuming it's the same code we just wrestled with, was around on Dec. 20, and did not come from Don or Marko.

Case # 1015.1418 - These numbers could mean something, but I doubt it's from the book of Jonah. There are only 4 chapters, and only the first has more than 11 verses.

The coat of arms:
- lion at the top with a crown & scepter
- lions on either side, each with an axe
- shield: lions, axes, scepters & some other thing I can't make out, looks kinda like a fleur de lis Confused
- motto of the Ventrue clan, associated with leadership/kingship in VtM

Don is apparently not "Cammy", so he could be Sabbat (still learning about the clans & sects, it's pretty confusing). He could also be a member of the Black Hand or something like that.

The Daeva clan appears to exist only in Vampire: The Requiem, not in the Masquerade. Could be relevant if the PM is sticking to game canon.

Edit: Just noticed something else... the coat of arms on the flickr is titled "coatofarms_v". Maybe it's the 5th, so we'll get 4 more eventually? Shifty Eyes
