changing letters to numbers gives:

Code:
[8.7] [9.7] [11.4] [1.10] [10.5] [1.10] [10.3] [5.8] [1.21] [11.1] [1.17] [9.7] [11.4]

[10.1] [10.5] [1.10] [10.15?] [9.7] [1.10] [10.3] [10.1] [1.14]

The question mark is for the capital O, which is just odd. Not only because it's the only capitol letter, but it's also the only couplet with 4 numbers.

Not that I have any idea where this is going (haven't been paying too much attention Embarassed ) but the character is a zero and not a capital O.

I know it's lazy to suggest things rather than try them out, but it's late... Has anyone tried plotting the couplets on an x-y grid yet to see if they form any shape?

(0 could = Origin...)

I haven't had a chance to, but that's not a bad idea.

New blog update, [b]f[b]: http://jonahnynla.wordpress.com/2009/01/06/f/

This one doesn't give any obvious hints to the code either, but both e and f may provide some more possible keywords for a Playfair cipher.

ETA: Another update! [b]4[b]: http://jonahnynla.wordpress.com/2009/01/06/4/

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Smiling Jack makes it sound like Jon(ah) is in a VTM video game: http://www.giantbomb.com/smiling-jack/94-6439/

See and I always associated a "smiling jack" with a rather violent act. Sometimes also called a "curby"

Smiling Jack is a long-time character, actually, who appeared in Guide to the Anarchs:

http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Guide_to_the_Anarchs

http://www.patman.org/wod/genealogy/Brujahgen.asp

He just made an appearance in the video game, with a lot of other noted characters from the pen and paper.

Petunia, say "kloos" again.

You just gotta love, when the PM's take a more direct hand in saying "NOT HERE DUMMY!"...

Who's Jonah?, thought Jon. My name's Jonathan Swift.

The confusion caused by your name, where for the first several blog posts we thought Jon Swifts name was Jonah - confusing it with you - the confused posts between the blog and here in the forums, with you constantly trying to tell us "it's not me!"

Finally the PM's stepped in - and made sure that we wouldn't confuse it anymore.. Wink

Also - in regards to the "spam" on blog post 4 - after several hours of working on it - I think I've got it.

Looking back at the first Smithy thread, someone said "it comes with kloos". I thought it was you. Someone said it.

Ah so! I might very well have said "it's a kloo," but only because I once heard someone else say it and thought it was funny. The plural threw me off for some reason. Embarassed So, enough quibbling... KL00S! Kloos we don't understand or know what to do with, but still... KLOOS!! Laughing

In other news, yochanan seems to have cracked the code in update 4.

I'm wondering more and more, why he is pretty much the only one cracking these codes. I mean, we're all smart right? I know I've been asleep at the wheel for a lot of this (obviously) - but to me it smells a bit like PM intervention to keep it going.. /shrug

That's probably the best hypothesis I'm gonna come up with today .. Laughing

Hush, you. Razz

I agree it does look fishy at first. However, there is a yochanan registered on uF who posted once back on Silverladder. And when I was googling the wordpress account the other day, I found it had been posted to a couple of vampire & gaming newsgroups by someone with an email address starting with smithy@, much like the first game launch. I think yochanan is an ARG dabbler who just hasn't become a uF regular, and also just happens to be handing our asses to us on a plate. Embarassed

My excuses are not having much time to spend on it, plus sucking at ciphers. Would be nice if we could drop yochanan a hint to come here, without actually spelling out 'Unfiction'.
