So perhaps I'm missing the point of the Central Park location. I thought the purpose of the location was for someone to go there to possibly find something?

Oh yeah, definitely. But we just got the location yesterday (with the third piece of the map), and we don't have a time or date yet.

agreed. this was UTC New Year. we now have the location, but the date and time remain elusive. the numbers now must come into play. also, there must be a missing piece or two of the map yet...

Is it possible that the date/time is just the 16th at 5:00 PM, as suggested by the timer on the main page?

I think we'd all be REALLY disappointed if it were that easy, but you never know.

So no one went to that location in Central Park at midnight on NYE?

No one mentioned it on IRC or unforum, so I don't think so. IMO, there was no reason to, as the page was updated at midnight UTC with the clue, and there wasn't anything substantial to say that anything would occur at midnight EST.

Besides, some people have mentioned that it might not be safe to go to Central Park in the middle of the night, even on New Years Eve. Perhaps if they travelled in groups of 3 or more and brought their flare guns...

Look back a couple of pages. Rose was there and willing to go, but was under the impression that someone else was going.

as Sam pointed out, the time code led to midnight UTC. nothing indicated midnight New Years Eve in any other time format/ time zone. further, the PMs could not have assumed that we would have the location completely figured out by 12:00 am Jan 1, 2009 EST as the map is obviously still not yet complete.

as has been pointed out by others over the last few pages here, we have the location of "something." what we don't know is the who, what, or when, however.

I believe the words along the top row will be providing an address:

For example, "Cnr. 2nd and 7th"

And the bottom row does seem to read a time:

For example, 2:00 PM EST

I think we should definitely keep our eyes peeled for the missing letters and numbers; if not in an upcoming overlay, we may be able to find the things we're looking for in other clues.

i think this is exactly right, Relia. this is why i (and others) have said the map is not yet complete and also why i think the numbers given by Russo and Lewis may now be important.

My personal first guess -- using only the "4" and the "1" we've already been given -- is Corner of 42nd and 7th at 1:00 PM EST (assuming we'll receive no more numbers) -- since Times Square is a decent meeting place if they're going to have a meetup event.

But has anyone considered going to Central Park and checking our tennis court "X" out? It's possible that's the dropsite for a fourth part of our overlay.

42nd and 7th is just two blocks from the New York Public Library, where the first drop was, so that's a good candidate.

I do think someone should go to the X, but I thought someone should have checked it out during the midnight run. I'm not there, so I leave it to folks on the ground, but given that the midnight run was well policed, the assumption was that it would be safe. Well, if Voltaire was there, then we missed him.

On the other hand, it is a bit much to ask people to interrupt their revels and do a meetup just when you should be drinking champagne and kissing someone.

Perhaps someone could go check it out during daylight?

Last time we were given a date and time, though. I have a feeling we either missed or overlooked some numbers. Either that, or they are yet to come.

Do we know the significance of 1230768000 or 20138?

Maybe the date could be found in the Reasonable Haven book?

Or maybe whatever is there, is staying there, and it doesnt matter when someone goes.

I think someone needs to go and check it out.

the thing is, the X marks the whole area described as "The Great Lawn Playground", including a running track, two volleyball courts, and four half basketball courts, among other amenities. at this point, i still think that is too vague of a description to go on. we also have the numbers that were given out weeks ago now that were important clues that assumedly come into play before anything on Jan 16th.

if someone wants to go and scout out the entire area, though, it might be worth a shot. i just don't think so at this point.the PMs couldn't have been sure that we would have the location by now, and have been on hiatus. so there's that to consider as well.

Yeah, I was willing to go. I would have certainly gone if I had known that no one else was going to at least check it out. I was sure that others had said they would go, guess I was wrong.

I don't agree that the PMs couldn't have assumed we would find the spot - we were very, very close to it already before the puzzle updated. And they also knew that we were looking at the midnight time. I really don't think that deciding or rationalizing what to do based on players guessing what the PMs are probably thinking..in a META sense, I mean... is the best idea - at least not if it keeps people from checking out something that might have been a lead. I was a very few blocks away and would have gone, no harm done either way.

Anyway, if we were supposed to be there and weren't, I'm sure they will find some other way to get the information out.
