Raul Murcheson (63) - Murcheson's illegitimate son (living in West Djahar)
it was in one of the posts on page 1 "Foily!"

Yeah, but that was based on Rachel's (likely) dated notes. I think I'd like to explore another avenue along the lines of Raul being known by another name

(since we get to write this story).

Thanks, natas!

Got a new email!
Titled "Tickets for what?"

Just got this email.

Quote:
Tickets; apply to Strøm,
Sturdevant's only get,
Go to hence from home,
begin a new chapter yet.

Check your credentials at the door,
you don't want to be stuck at the pier,
you'll need to be a bit of a bore,
to make the final cut out there.

Aww thanks. My French teacher back in high school was a big TinTin fan :p I actually heard they were making a live action movie but that could be a rumor.

juist found this on page 3 in a email from raul murcheson
Did you know that Legerdemain was murdered? I wonder who murdered him. Well, there are only three suspects, Sir William, Dr. Richard Harriman, and John "Tintin" Sturdevant. Care to take a guess?
another tintin connection "Foily!"

to put "moe" on your resumé
you must first apply
for credentials, if you may
to john murdock, why?

if you do, you'll need a ticket
to have some fun
and if strøm says "click-it"
you'll be on the run

cant make nor tail yet first half is prob about registering which i have done "Foily!"

Ok so this is the catch up for all the emails. They're from most recent to the oldest.

Hello Jazz!

I was informed yesterday that I'm to lead the Sturdevant Expedition (murcheson.wordpress.com) because of my outdoors expertise from my days as a VSO (CUSO for you Canadians).

I just heard that you've already checked your credentials. Now you need to get a ticket from Strøm Sturdevant.

-- M. Kyle Falconer

VSO stands for Voluntary Service Overseas.

CUSO is the Canadian name for it.
I mentioned I was Canadian on the application for JP Murdock application.

http://www.vsocan.org/en/volunteer/volunteer-overseas.php

Website is OOG as far as I know.

Also another reference to a man named 'Strom'.

Congratulations on being the first to notice that connection to the Tintin books, very good sleuthing! As a second puzzle (just for kicks, find out how many references to Tintin books there are; one example the farmer calling himself "Ridgewell" who discovered the torn page of Murcheson Journal, was based on a character, mentioned in the Tintin adventures as the survivor of an expedition in "The Broken Ear".

Of course, if you (and others) had read the harriman wiki, you would have known that! Wink

Note: The hint related to the Lindermann Journal. <sigh>

-- M. Kyle Falconer

The words Harriman wiki link to that wiki. I'm busy today, new pup and all so I'm going to let you all search for the TinTin references. I also apparently am missing what the hint was. *headhand*

Of course, if you (and others) had read the harriman wiki, you would have known that all along! Wink

Note: The actual hint related to the Lindermann Journal. <sigh> But I suppose that was lost in all the excitement!

Wink

BTW - Get your credentials checked by http://jpmurdock.tripod.com or you'll be left behind!

P.S. As a second puzzle (just for kicks), try to find out (or ask your old French teacher? or ask some of your friends?) how many references to Tintin books there are.

One example, "Ridgewell" (the farmer who discovered the torn page of Murcheson Journal) is mentioned in the Tintin adventures as the survivor of an expedition in "The Broken Ear".

We've chiefly used The Broken Ear, and the Seven Crystal Balls as sources. They are a great series, and they appeal to adults too!

P.P.S. Sorry, I'm babbling on again!

The part beginning with, "My grandfather" wasn't part of the hint. Just me blabbing on.

Coffeegirl18 -

All I can say is that he was on the brink of discovering how to translate an "unknown" language. Which would have shocked the world. He didn't even have a "rosetta stone"! I sure wish I could go back to West Djahar to find out more about that expedition.

My Grandfather , Mark Falconer, was on the Sanders-Hardiman expedition about that same time (mid-1930's). They brought back a mummy from an Incan tomb. Immediately upon their return, one-by-one they fell ill. My Grandfather was the second to last to succumb. The illness lasted for several months, but suddenly they were all well again. A very puzzling outcome, some said it was the Curse of Rascar Capac (the mummy in question).

Professor Sanders-Hardiman, if I recall correctly, saw the Murcheson Expedition off at Southhampton!

-- Mark Kyle Falconer

[btw - could you give me your first name?]

That would be one of the TinTin references. I emailed back asking if they had any idea on the actual age of the mummy (as in had it been carbon dated). I also mentioned that it may have been a plague or disease perserved within the mummy/tomb that may have made the three men sick.

The rest of the emails are the ones posted already and Mark Kyle Falconer asking me if I read up on the 1st expedition and all the wikis. I have Very Happy

I understand from someone who knows you, that you are trying to get a ticket to a certain enterprise that one of our clients is funding? Have you checked your credentials with JP Murdock & Sons (jpmurdock.tripod.com)? Once you do that, perhaps I can be more forthcoming.

subject Welcome to the Expedision
mailed-by gmail.com

Oslo, 16 May 2009

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Pardon for not speaking English so good. I only took it since high skole, and then I was a bad student.

But I do welcome you to go on my expedision. I am, rather badly, busy at this time. And so, I choose an Englishman to lead you, M.Kyle Falconer, who I am sure will lead you well.

I attach to this email a picture my great-uncle took of Ajembukan. Your first stop on the expedition.

I want to lend you my best wishes for a good trip and come safely home.

-- Strøm Sturdevant

A PostScript from Joseph Jaggers:

Some of you haven't yet checked your credentials, this is an essential component to getting a ticket.

The pic has a hidden link to:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://mkylefalconer.tripod.com/secret.html

And... Does this mean I still need a ticket?
I entered my credentials, but have no confirmation except this as to how that went.

I just recieved the same. I already tried translating it via BabelFish from Russian and German. I'm thinking it may be Swedish or Norse or something like that.

I believe from my understanding of French and a little spanish 'billeter is either ticket or ticket seller.
