PART TWO: THE TRIA FATA

We piled into Big T's car, (I called shotgun, yay!) and drove down to about 51st and 8th, the location of 888 @ 8th Ave.

It turns out there is an entire block of stores which are ALL 888 8th Ave.

"I hope it's the ice cream parlor!" I joked, because between the stern "ALL VISITORS MUST BE ANNOUNCED" in one building's lobby and the full-to-capacity nail salon and so on, the goofy looking ice cream shop with big swirly cones outside it looked pretty awesome.

Only it was the ice cream parlor, so maybe I looked like a douchebag. XD Who can say.

"Oh my god, it's the businesswomen!" someone called, pointing in the window.

Sure enough, we rushed in and there, seated at a table, drinking one milkshake with three straws, giggling manically at apparently nothing whatsoever but the sound of their own giggling, sat the tria fata themselves -- alpha, beta, and gamma of the female Young Professionals of the TIMM video.

Giggling determinedly, one of the three handed us a small pocket journal with a bright red cover. "This is all you get for today," she giggled at us, and they gigglingly left the shop, giggling with their wide, wild eyes.

I wasn't the keeper of the journal, so I only have the photos I took, but as they contain THE NEXT PUZZLE FOR THIS ARG, I've uploaded my photos to photobucket for everyone to work on until we get the flatbed scans. They are obviously reminiscent of the first table in Reasonable Haven.

I did a dramatic reading for the group, which is also immortalized on video. (You get to hear me decipher the handwriting as quickly as I can -- I wasn't too shabby. XD) Note I don't think it's ever stated for certain that this is Mars Madison's journal, but currently we don't know any other "MM"s.

Then we made the ice cream salesman take our picture. Then we divvied up the cash -- $16 each, yay profit -- and went our separate ways.

Anyway, I think the missing dollar bill is significant. 42, according to Douglas Adams in his book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, is the meaning of "life, the Universe, and everything."

It may, also, simply be a nod to 42 Entertainment... 42 is noted in a lot of ARGs, indirectly Smile who knows... it would really be interesting to find out why 42 is missing though!

I'm transcribing the MM journal in case anyone wants a more easily deciphered copy.

First thought, and I'm only on pic 8, but her lower case "f"s look a lot like the musical notation for "forte," which struck me because she mentioned working on pianos on facebook.

Wanted to start a new journal because a lot has been going on. I haven't kept a diary since Wichita so I'm probably a little rusty. But I feel like if I don't keep track of these days and make sure my thoughts are organized, I could end up making some bad choices. Also I still don't know too many people around the city, so this will make a good substitute for social interaction. ha

MM

[Drawings of Cool Dog sunglasses]

This is not an easy town to find work. I've been able to do some freelance stuff here and there but I'd prefer something a little more steady. Although I have to admit, knowing my way around machines has really started to come in handy. I went to an information session about treasure hunting. But it really doesn't seem like a very easy field to break into.

Thinking about taking my application down to Blackstar. They get a lot off [sic] ill will in the city but frankly stability in a time like this is appealing to me. Sure they're a little on the menacing side, but if everyone in Milwaukee would spend a few weeks wandering in the desert like I did, I bet they'd have a greater appreciation for what "menacing" really means. (I still have nightmares about the creep!)

MM

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I've been trying to meet up with some of the so-called rebels. Supposedly the biggest group, the Medical Front, has a semi-legitimate way of life and is always looking for people who are mechanically [drawing of boxes morphing into Cool Dog glasses] inclined.

Long story short, another group called the Snake Charmers said they could introduce me. Big mistake, should never have fallen for the whole anti-establishment thing. Never even got a meeting with the Front.

Going straight to Blackstar tomorrow and seeing what work they can give me.

MM

Found a job in communications at Blackstar!

[Scribbled out word].

Pretty easy so far [drawing of a black star] and I've even made a friend or two, starting with my boss, Ms. Leroux. She's really friendly and a little bit older (ha ha, my type). We're all working really hard on some new public information campaign. Not sure what it's for yet--- Pretty important though, measured by the level of secrecly.

Oh and guess who's the head of the Communications Department?

Terry Nanny.

[Six-page cipher follows]

[torn out pages]

[End of diary.]

Edit: Looks like someone else posted the text in another thread already. Move along, citizens, nothing to see here!

I feel like such a bum! I took Mars Diary with full intentions of running home, scanning it, and posting it. Then my car started being wonky in the middle of CT and I had to wait for a tow truck to change my battery (of all things!!!). I am back and about to recount my day of pure awesomeness and also get some high res scans of the diary up (which are uploading as we speak). Sorry fellow Treasure Hunters!

Awww! That sucks.

It's also strange you should mention that. Before I left for NYC this afternoon, I noticed that my little Nissan Altima had a flat tire. A completely flat tire. So, I ended up taking the big Subaru Forester instead (while my awesome wife took the Altima to the shop). In my case, at least it turned out to be good that I took the big car! I don't think all six of us would have fit in the Altima.

I only feel bad for everyone for not posting the journal earlier. I wouldn't trade anything for the experience I had today. Not only did I really get to beat Worker and help the rebels but I also met a bunch of really awesome people. I remember TheRyuujinMike asking me after we chased off Worker if it was worth the drive from Boston and I said it totally was, yet was still bummed that it had come to and end. Low and Behold that it was only the first part and we got to continue our journey. It was hysterical looking into the candy shop and seeing the business woman acting EXACTLY the same as they did in the video. Thank you TIMM and a big, huge THANK YOU to the awesome group I got to experience this with. I hope our paths cross again soon....but make sure you have your family tree. BONUS!!!!!!!!!!

Don't feel bad, it was awesome that you were able to go and share the story with the rest of us.

And for the record, The Business Women ARE NOT cyborgs like Worker is. I saw them drink the milkshake (two of them at the same time actually) and as we know Workers can't drink or eat

RAW VIDEO FOOTAGE

For those of you who just can't wait, I finally got YouTube to stop choking on my video uploads!

I will say up front that there is a LOT of dead, boring, footage on these clips. I plan on editing all of it into something shorter, but I knew it would be faster to get this up first.

So, you're about to embark on about 55 minutes of footage from today. Rough and unedited. If you wonder why there's about 10 minutes of the camera just focusing on the ground, it was because I didn't want Joey to get pissed off at me holding the camera in his face the ENTIRE time we were standing there.

There are five (5) videos total. Here are the first three, and I'll post the others as YouTube finishes processing them:

Video 1/5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MkYiageKuM
Meeting up at Cleopatra's Needle up to random chit chat with Joey

Video 2/5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4z2fcsL4RQ
Random chit chat with Joey, Relia gets the Champion Dynasty Fund, People in Red arrive

Video 3/5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBNwllf00RI
More people arrive, Worker attacks (6:00), Mars Madison's "package" is delivered.

YES!!!! I love having a full recount of our day right there! Watching the first video also reminded me how everyone around us must have thought we were crazy because we just glared at them all like they did something wrong, haha...including people who joined up with us
