I doubt this leads anywhere, especially since key 4 has two different letters that represent it, but with this puzzle I'll try anything once. XD

Relia, how about instead of the telephone, we use the keypad from 2:49 in the TIMM video?

I'm not sure there's anything to be gleaned from that keypad that wouldn't otherwise be.... I also tried looking at the letters on a computer keyboard, since
-T-
FGH
-B-
make such a nice directional keypad, but there were too many things that didn't fit, even setting 1, Z, M, and _ as "diagonal" arrows.

I don't remember who ended up with the diary, but it may be worth scanning the scrubbed out mistake on the left page at high resolution.

It doesn't look like it's the 'F' on the next line - and what isn't supposed to be there may be revealing.

Yeah, I was thinking that might be a delimiter of some sort, but not a bad idea that it might contain something at greater detail.

Mistake

Hey first time poster blah blah blah

If you're referring to the mistake on the page we haven't figured out yet, it looks like it was an underscore to me. If you look at the pen strokes, most are going diagonally, but one is horizontal. I first thought it was a 7, but we haven't seen any of those. It could also be the middle tine for an F.

And just a question, has the person with the diary (Boston I think) checked for invisible ink?

Holy shit!!! It kinda looks like there is writing on some of the later pages. How do I check for invisible ink? I might be wrong but it does kinda look like there is some stuff on there

and after studying the scribble I am fairly certain it says Proud. I'm assuming she went back and scribbled it out because she found out Blackstar sucks

There's all kinds of tricks. Page indentation marks, which you'd be able to see at the right angle under bright light, which can be brought out various ways that would pretty much destroy anything else.

Then there's the possibility of invisible writing. The most overused and fairly kiddy technique is the old lemon juice writing trick, which requires heat to 'burn' into brown letters, but this can also ruin other stuff. Then there's various invisible ink tricks that require the right chemical to make them appear.

All in all, any one attempt can ruin all others, so I doubt they'd use something like that on us, eheh.

I was actually gonna say that there wasn't because I saw no pressure marks but it does kind of look like maybe something written lightly with a marker or something. I'm gonna head over to my friends house tonight and look under a blacklight...wish me luck

Hi Boston, sorry I actually meant the small one on the left side of the page we're stuck on.

One thing I'm working on, and I wanted to post it here so it could get some more perspectives- My boyfriend and I were looking at the characters that were used the most frequently, and F of course stands out, as well as the 2/z characters- So he asks me, "what does the F2 key do?"... well, it renames files in windows. He's been keeping up with another ARG (for the book John Dies at the End), and most of the clues are found by renaming files- a picture becomes a sound clip etc. So, I'm going to keep looking into this for possibilities. Then again, there are a ton of 5's (F5=refresh) and 6's (doesn't fit with the rest- F6= "Cycle through the screen elements in a window or on the desktop") so it's still way up in the air.
