Woah, cool. I guess I must have missed that one, but wasn't the grid on page 26 used to solve the first diary entry?

I have no idea what the long walk graph could represent. The only thing I can think of is a sound clip of some sort, but I've never heard of reproducing audio from sound waves. Plus, the graph totally curves. I've recorded a lot of music, but I've never seen a sound wave that curves like that, so I think I'm gonna go ahead and rule out audio.

yes, the pg 26 grid was used to decode the first diary entry. however, the page was used to create the code just as page 11 was used to create the entry solved by Relia yesterday. actually, any page could be used as a substitute cypher if you think of it that way. this in no way means the content of the table is solved in my opinion. there is just too much weirdness going on in the table on page 26 for it to not mean something...

There's another grid that no one has noticed. But having studied the damn book carefully for days, caught the clue and contributed this:
Quote:
Page 11 of A Reasonable Haven has the symbols we need.

The column under MTC has G T ' 2 M p H
Under * is 1 2 5 _ p B B
The column under FEBRIZZIO'S has s T F F F f F

and got

Quote:
Awesome job Relia!!! I never in a million years would have thought of that.

Doesn't really inspire my sense of team work. I think Relia did an excellent job too. But I think I'll go back to lurking.

Don't be silly, anyone who was paying attention saw your contribution - although it's not helped by the fact you keep changing forum names.

Your assertion that the remaining mystery table "will be" needed eventually seems a bit unequivocal?

Lol, no kidding. It was you. I scrolled back to where the solution was posted and just assumed Reila figured out the whole thing. Nice work man. I had a helluva time trying to find anything to go with that stupid puzzle. But Beeswax is right, you need to log in! I've seen you post other stuff on here as a guest.

I'd never presume to say I could've solved the puzzle on my own, or would've EVER come upon the page 11 table without your help; all I did was apply the same methodology from the other entry to the table you were clever enough to spot, and then figure out a world of capital Fs. You were the one with the keen eye and swift brain here, not me. <3 Honestly I wanted to thank you even better than I did, but I'm not sure how to address you; what name do we call you by? Would be so glad to give you your merited props if you'd register an account so we can keep track of your contributions. <3

It might be fun to call him "The Man with No Name".

In all seriousness, The Man with No Name, though: excellent work.

Yeah, but then eventually he'll register an account under "The Man with No Name" and it won't be funny anymore, because it will actually be his name.

EDIT: In other news, he actually has an account and has made three posts with it. "Anonymous AntipoJamesDean" is his name. I think I'll call him James...or JD or something...AAJD? Nah, James. James is his name.

EDIT2: Maybe Jim.

what grid has no one noticed until now?

interesting. your sense of "teamwork" appears dependent upon individual praise. honestly, you're the first person i can remember here to actually complain that they were not noticed enough, or a comment not appreciated enough. in the past 3 months or so of this game, the contributions of many have gotten us to where we stand today and fellow players have been nothing but supportive and appreciative of each other. most here understand the collective intellect necessary to accomplish team goals and do not seek individual acclaim.

the productive thoughts of one player invariably spur tangents in others. this is why the UF forums exist and why we play the game in a collective setting. people cooperate out of a sense of community and a willingness for the group to succeed. this is the beauty of the TIMM experience imho, and is a refreshing respite from the world of everyday life. there are no egos here to speak of.

people are generally good at using the spoiler tags for those who wish to play the game on their own and don't want to see results until they figure things out for themselves. though undoubtedly less fun than group play, this remains an option. (that being said, in a game such as this, i truly wonder how far one would get if not for the forums here and the collective input of the community at large). after all, it's not always the solutions that matter, but wrong suppositions and theories one need not waste time on thanks to the collective think-tank.

just to set the record straight, thank you for your invaluable insight and contribution. that said, perhaps you might like to thank the other folks here who have been working on this project these past few months to get the game to the point you see it, and are able to contribute to it today.

peace...

Well she posted the solved puzzle so obviously I'm going to thank the one that did that first. Good job pointing out the page. Wanna cookie?

Interesting idea, Nextgen, and definitely worth a look.

I checked back on all the scribbles I could find. I found four; they are on the scanned images (see page 1 of this thread) numbered 6, 8 and 9.

6) The first letter is almost certainly a "P". Looks like she may have started writing "Pretty" as seen on the following line, but messed up.

Cool I found this one interesting. Unlike her other misprints, this does not look like the letter that ended up coming next. The next letter is "F", and most people start that letter with the vertical stroke. Based on the way Mars normally writes her "F", I think it's clear she was putting something else here. I don't think that is enough to go on the discern what she was writing there, but it is an interesting point. Maybe she made a mistake with translating it into code.

9-1) Based on the position, I would say that Mars originally planned to end this entry here, but decided to write more. Since my knowledge of morse code is rather lacking, I couldn't tell you where exactly in the translated message this is, but my guess is that it is a short distance below the end of the first sentence.

9-2) The scribble looks like it was a "#1", which ends up being the next thing written. Looks like she just messed this one up.

In the end, I don't think we will find anything here, but it was a good thought. Thank you for pointing it out.

One more thing worth checking by whoever has the hard copy of the diary: please look closely at the first blank page after the torn-out section. If Ms. Madison presses down hard on the page when she writes, her final entry may have left some imprints there.
