[INFO] Transcript of Meetup Convo with Joey
Large amounts of relevant information contained within.

EDIT: Just got some of the blanks ("unintelligble"s) filled in by BigT on the transcription. If I messed up somewhere, just PM me and I'll make the edit.

So:

1) I found it difficult to recall everything that Joey said in BigT's meetup video.
2) The PMs said we're missing something.
3) Due to Murphy's Law, I'm assuming that he didn't just mean the key to the diary entry but an entirely different puzzle.
3) It would be much easier to analyze the existing clues if everything was in searchable text format.
4) I apparently love transcribing things.

Thus, a slightly cleaned-up transcript follows below.

Joey is normal text, various meeting attendants (all lumped together) are in boldface.

Quote:

Oh man, it is a lot warmer in the office.

I talked to you after it got released; I don't think you were very happ-

Yup. That was - one of the worst.

Whatever happened to Walter?

Walter?

Yeah. Like, uh, the guy with the password, the uh, Flickr account.

Oh, I don't know anything about that stuff.

Oh.

I ju-

Do you know Charles Jagoda?

What's that?

Do you know Charles Jagoda?

I know the Jagoda Museum, that's about all I know, I mean, you know I don't really go to the museum. I've got other things to do.

More important things?

Well... it's all relative, I think.

(laughs)

Oh, I could really go for a hamburger right now.

Ohhhh... hamBURRRGER. So good.

Or maybe even lasagna?

Yeah, lasagna. Look at that... shady mustache(?). Don't look at him too long, he's probably going to get spooked or something.

Are we expecting lots of Blackstar-

-you've got your... family tree there? (pointing to paper drawing)

Uh, no. Not right now.

Those belong underground. Well, you could use them above-ground too. I mean, they have different uses. I mean-

Such as?

Well, I mean it's a Go.D.S.E.E.D. deterrent and they keep them underground. I mean, that's really, I mean as far as, you know, too much more than that, that's the survival tips that I know, that I use personally.

No flare gun?

You know, I don't need a flare gun, bro. I'm, uh... I stockpile family trees.

Nice!

So I've actually... I'll tell you more about that in a minute, I don't wanna- is that somebody? Don't, don't look directly at them - stop smiling. Okay. That's good, you guys are doing... hey, that's a nice camera.

Yeah, I mean if anyone were to come by they would just think you were gonna tape us, like, playing basketball.

It is a good time for basketball. We'll do a couple of drills... (looking at passersby suspiciously?) Runners are always scary because they look the most normal.

Are you expecting Blackstar to show?

Every minute. Honestly.

We gonna play basketball after this?

We're gonna get warm, actually. (singsong) A couple margaritas...

So what's the deal with vermouth?

Dude, I don't make the drinks, I just drink them.

How long have you been out here?

Mmmm... 30 minutes?

Were you followed?

I was not followed. When you jump from branch to branch you can't get followed.

Ohh! These branches don't look very weight-bearing...

Not these. The pine trees over there. Much easier... though I did see... see someone smoking a plant... of sorts... behind one tree. It smelled kind of weird. Uh... those are pretty young teens... travelling in only a duo...

(Idle chatter about passersby and their irresponsibility in bringing children and young teens outdoors)

You guys have any run-ins with Blackstar or anything like that? No Go.D.S.E.E.D.? No Go.D.S.E.E.D. at all?

Nope, all safe.

Good, good. You guys are doing good.

How's Mike feeling?

Tell you what, that guy? Hero.

Yeah?

Serious hero. Talk about, like, Ulysses? Or uh, Andre the Giant? Up there, he's up there. Uh I've never seen a man take, I mean, you know... I mean I've never seen a man take a beating like that and still do his job.

Was there any rebel activity recently...

There was, I mean, a couple of days ago I heard on the wire something going down around here but I think, uh, that's why I'm worried about Blackstar, I mean they cleared it out, but, you know, I think they're patrolling to see if there's any resurgence; it's not like we're very well-hidden over here... I mean we're hiding behind a trash can.

[jump cut in BigT video.. Joey goes over to call Russo and attendants review unsolved mysteries until Joey returns]

I am really not cut out for this. Allright, here's the thing. Things are definitely changing, allright? You gotta know that much.

[Joey looks over his shoulder.]

So, you guys remember the power outage? A couple of weeks ago?

Yeah.

Well, now they're gonna have a power board. Now, power, you know, is what keeps everything afloat in Milwaukee. So... you know how like trees lose their leaves in the winter, right?

Mm-hmm.

It's kinda like the same thing. I mean without that power, Milwaukee's just a tree. Losing its leaves. And Blackstar... I don't- I don't even understand what they're even gonna try to do if they get, the power, control over that power board, I mean... so Russo has been really eager to protect the people of Milwaukee. I mean-

(A bullhorn sounds and Joey frantically looks over his shoulder.)

So what you guys gotta remember is that the rebels are out... some are forming, combining together to go against Blackstar... I mean, I don't know much about it, I try to stay away from the rebels, I mean, the less I know the better, you know? That's how I see it, I'm just trying to survive out there. Every day, you know? And just in the office, it's bad enough.

(Joey reaches into his messenger bag and pulls out a golden turkey trophy.)

So Russo was worried that someone, that the Champion Dynasty Fund would be in trouble. So this is for you.

(Joey gives the trophy to Relia.)

You're supposed to have that.

Allright.

And protect it. It's probably the most powerful piece that the Milwaukee Tourism Commission has. I don't know... I, I can't even use it, I mean, Russo just told me to give it to one of you guys, so, just trying to do my best here, you know?

Ohh, god it's so cold...

Do you know how to use it?

Much like a family tree... but the power it emits varies with the person who's using it.

Does it differ by power class or...

It can upgrade your power class. It has the distinct ability to do that. It's got hidden powers inside of it, I don't really know too much. But I'll be... I'll never be able to use it.

(Helicopters are flying overhead.)

GUY 1: These helicopters are really...
GUY 2: That's what I'm worried about, helicopters.

Yeah! Broad daylight too. I've never seen them out this early.

Whose helicopters are they?

(awkward pause)

Guess my guess is as good as yours.

Yeah. So, pretty much guys, things, the times are pretty much changing. Blackstar's making a move, and I don't know if it's a power play to do with the grid but Russo has been injured-

(The group turns to see two people, Patricia and Bob, in red coats.)

Those people are wearing red...

Is there something significant about the color red that we should be aware of?

(suspicious, Joey turns to questioner) I don't know, is there something significant about the color red that we should be aware of?

I'm asking you. (laughs)

(Joey turns back) I'm suspicious of everything.

Okay, these look like...

PATRICIA: Um...

Were you followed?

PATRICIA: Are you guys looking for Milwaukee? ...Yeah, OK. (laughs) Nothing has happened yet?

What's your name?

PATRICIA: Patricia.

Who's that?

PATRICIA: That's... Bob.
BOB: How are you?

(Joey introduces himself to the newcomers and gives them M-Rotor reseater postcards. Jump cut in video. Joey is still talking to Patricia and Bob.)

And the power grid... (unintelligible)... I dunno, Blackstar's gonna use the power board and you know, possibly release Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragments into Milwaukee and all the sectors? I don't know! You know? I'm... Russo's just got me out here to make sure everything's on the up-and-up. You know? I didn't want to be out here. Doing him a favor, frankly.

PATRICIA: Yeah, it's freezing out...

Yeah, it's definitely

PATRICIA: Who is that guy?

(unintelligible)...face, you know? I usually can tell by the eyes.

Joey, who's that guy with the box?

The box?

(Jump cut in video)

We won't be safe for too long. (checks cellphone) 3:06...

Okay, just four more minutes and then we start moving.

Do you know anything about the, uh, Mayor's Commission or the-

(Joey grunts derisively.) That is the most unorganized league I've ever been a- I've ever been privy to experience anything to do with. I mean, Anna Tate Mellon will just call me and just start screaming on the phone to me and you know, I'm just trying to do my job -

(turns to look suspiciously at the redcoats, who have since moved to talk amongst themselves at a distance)

What are they talking about?

Uh, yeah, I mean, it's a little difficult to really figure out what's exactly happening day-to-day. I mean so much has changed - oh!

(points at the sky toward a flock of geese)

Look at that. Look at that. Amazing.

You know, the Milwaukee defense structure is modelled after the V.

Really?

When there's groups that use family trees to defend themselves, they form a V and, uh, you know, use varying octaves of "bonus". That's what you scream at the, as hard as you can sometimes.

Scream "bonus"?

With the family tree.

So what is "bonus", exactly?

(derisive grunt) I mean if I knew what bonus was, I'd be, I'd be in a much higher position than I am now. All I know is, like I said guys, I'm just a survivor. I managed to stockpile quite - I managed to stockpile quite, quite a few family trees at my place to upgrade my power - upgrade the power class of my building, I think, haven't got official word of that yet but...

Now with just one family tree, can anyone shatter glass? Or only if you're already of a certain power class?

It's - yes. If you're already at a certain power class, you can. There are varying amounts of the family tree. I mean, and it's also, you know - I mean the Champion Dynasty Fund is the cream of the crop. It's the cream of the crop.

Would it help if Blackstar comes after us with Worker?

If Worker comes, forget about it. I mean, we're in super trouble. That guy is - that guy is a cyborg like no other.

And there's just one Worker?

Well, there's multiple workers but there's one Worker. You know, there's multiple cyborgs all over the city. Blackstar uses them pretty well, I think. You know? I mean, some of them are programmed to be kinder than others. Others are just killing machines.

Do they all look similar in appearance?

Some do, but other times you don't even know which ones are which, you know? I mean just the other day I was at FeBrizzio's and there was one sitting next to me, and I knew because he wasn't drinking.

So they don't eat or drink.

Forget about it... I don't even know how they work, really.

Have you ever seen one doing the Power Walk? ...Or Power Run?

Oh, I've seen the Power Run. It. Is. Not a pretty sight. It is very scary. Very scary.

Nobody can be around when it's doing it?

Oh you can be around, you just have to have a family tree to defend yourself. You know? You absolutely have to be able to defend yourself.

You have seen the Power Run?

I've seen the Power Run, yeah.

Directed towards you or...

No. Not directed towards me, I've seen it done. I've seen, you know, you guys remember Treasure Hunter. I saw him out in, I think it was like Sector 18 or something, get in a Power Run, Worker just started flying at him, and next thing you know... good thing Treasure Hunter had a jewel and a family tree. So good.

So Treasure Hunter's still doing allright?

You know, I haven't really heard from him, I just saw him... he's somewhat of a, uh, like a D-list celebrity around Milwaukee, um, you know, since the video came out he's gotten a little more attention. But I don't know, I don't think the treasure hunting market's really taken off yet or anything like that; I mean there's not much work out there for treasure hunters.

So who would be A-list, Terry?

Terry is... is... beyond A-list. I think he's, you know, I try to have very little connection with him because you know what, he's the, you know, big part of MTC, which also means, you know, what else that means, you know?

Did you take part in the filming of the video? I mean, were you there?

Oh yeah, I was here.

Basketball.

(Joey opens his coat to reveal his tank top.)

Oh, right! How was Terry to work with? Is he kind of a diva?

Terry, I don't know if you guys have heard, uh, back before the incident there was this guy, uh, called himself, uh, Prince? You couldn't look him in the eyes, right? That was back before the incident, after the incident, like Terry, it's like the new Prince. Of Milwaukee. Couldn't look at him right in the eyes. If you did look at him, he'd get so angry - oh look at this guy, very, very staunchly walking toward us.

(A man is walking towards the basketball court.)

Now that guy, definitely cyborg-like. You can tell by their walk.

Is that how you tell?

Usually. Sometimes I can tell by just looking at their eyes. But like I said I was at FeBrizzio's and one was just sitting right next to me. I mean I was a little half in the bag, you know, I was a little twisted-up myself. But-

Too many Milwaukee margaritas?

I mean, it's all relative again, you know? How many is too much.

Turn your backs, turn your backs, guys. I don't know who this guy is with the camera and stuff.

(jump cut of video)

(Joey is muttering) some subliminal... Go.D.S.E.E.D. infestation, probably...

So you guys get rid of the mold and rats down at the MTC?

Ah, Russo was on top of that, like you know, white on rice.

In the middle of everything else he does.

I tell you man, he is a savior. A hero.

He really stuck his neck out.

Ugh, there's more people coming. They're smiling, Blackstar people rarely smile.

JOHN: This must be for TIMM.

Yeah... were you followed?

JOHN: I'm John.

Were you followed?

JOHN: No.

Were you followed?

(He gives John the postcard.)

This is for you. I'm Joey - you said your name was John? Hi.

So, briefly went over the power structure and how the power board was formed. Russo asked me to do him a favor and get him out here.

God, everything runs on time here.

(checks his cellphone)

Allright, let's walk, guys.

JOHN: Where are we going, Joey?

Don't you worry about it, John.

(They walk a hundred feet or so before Joey turns to Relia.)

Have you read the documentation on how to use the Champion Dynasty Fund, if you're called upon to use it?

RELIA: No.

Now the family tree, "bonus" is the trigger mechanism that triggers the power structure, the chthonic energy that arises around you that deters the Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragments and any Blackstar paraphernalia coming around you. But the Champion Dynasty Fund, it's "bonub."

Bonub... now it all makes sense.

And don't just go willy-nilly using it.

Does the power run out?

Frankly, I don't even, I don't even trust that you have it. I don't know - I'm not even allowed to have it, I work every day at that place. Russo's like, "No, give it to the girl."

(They walk into a snow-covered field and Joey slows his pace a little bit.)

RELIA: Joey, is that Worker?

Where? Where?!

RELIA: In short sleeves, the only person in short sleeves in this weather.

Oh my god. Here. Get behind a tree, get behind a tree.

Oh my god...

(Joey hands out family trees from his messenger bag once they're safely behind a tree.)

Here. Everyone, get a family tree. "Bonus." Don't let him see.

He stopped. I think he sees us.

Here! Take this, QUICKLY!

He hopped the fence.
Should we get in a V formation?

V, V. Start getting in the V.

You're at the head of the V.

I'm at the head. Quickly, two on each side. QUICKLY! Get ready.

(They get into formation.)

Where's the Champ- stand right here. Right here! We got two- two. Who's the other one? You. You. Right here. Allright, be careful.

(Worker goes into a Power Run.)

Guys, get ready. For bonus, ready? Get ready! Ready? Like me. Ready, 3, 2, 1-

BONUS!

(Worker flails)

Bonub, quickly!

BONUB!

Get him, let's go, come on!

Quick analysis: Just looking at this video again, I think it's interesting that he refers to triggering a family tree's "power structure", the exact same phrase that he repeatedly used when talking about the power board and what we now know to be his fear of the IPT. He also kept mentioning family trees as sources of power and didn't name alternative sources other than the Fund. (No higher-priced or scarcer option that provides more chthonic energy was mentioned.) So is the IPT just a bid to monopolise all the family trees? Does Voltaire have the most power of anyone in Milwaukee? Or is he the Thomas Edison equivalent of this new civilization, pioneering this new power source? Are building materials infused with the remnants of family trees in order to give the building a higher power class?

This should probably be in Notes and Speculation. Two consecutive posts in likely the wrong thread, many apologies.

Holy Awesomeness!

I applaud you for having the free time and the patience to transcribe all of this. It's something I've wanted to do in the back of my head ever since I uploaded all the videos to YouTube, but my free time is at a premium these days.

I just can't express in words how happy it makes me that someone transcribed all of this. It was already awesome that I was able to go to the meet-up, but now I feel that my camerawork and the silly decision I made to leave the camera on the whole time (recording upside down trees) was not a silly decision at all.

Just SO awesome, and thanks for doing this!

Thank you for doing this! This should be excellent for searching for clues and picking out the important phrases from the video that keep popping up(i'm thinking the trees in winter thing is going to pop up again soon).

maybe this is a stretch Relia - but is there a way to open the trophy? I'm sure you've already looked but joey mentions something about what's inside of it. I understand it could just be the power itself - but is it something tangilbe?

Unfortunately the Champion Dynasty Fund appears to be only an object of great and true power. The golden turkey is solid, and screwed into the white marble base. On the front the placard simply reads "CHAMPION DYNASTY FUND" (one word on each line, centered). The base is solid and unmarked on all other sides, and the turkey screws into the base directly (the screw is visible).

Unfortunately I'm onsite for a client this week and living in a Marriott, so I can't take photos of the Fund to give you a better idea of it, but when I get home on Friday night I can do this. <3

By the way, Josh, you are AMAZING for transcribing this! (As is Big T for recording everything and then painstakingly uploading it all!)

Thanks, guys!

"CHAMPION DYNASTY FUND" is a very strange name for an item of great and true power, especially given that it is a turkey.

I wonder if we could rearrange those letters to make something more interesting?

CHAMPION DYNASTY FUND

FOUND CHAMP IN DYNASTY

SANDY MONDAY FUN PITCH

FIND MY SUNNY CODA PATH

FIND MY PATCH ON SUNDAY

These are not very useful examples, but are all I can come up with at the moment. The lack of "E"s and abundance of "Y"s limit the possible words we can make, which is a large part of why I think the name is rather suspicious.

Anagram?

If you'd like to check that phrase for possible anagrams try this link:
http://wordsmith.org/anagram/anagram.cgi?anagram=champion+dynasty+fund&t=1000

It yields over 5000 possibilities and those are mostly just words... not including any other abbreviations. I scanned through a lot of them and nothing stuck out at me, but who knows.

(/endlurk)

I'm kind of reluctant to believe that the anagram path would lead anywhere, but just in case, I do see "IPT" as a possible abbreviation used in the "decoded" message if there is one.

Odds are it's just a "power" defense fund in the name of/referencing some champion in the past, though.

While I'm still not satisfied with just accepting its name, I must admit I'm not finding anything, even with the handy descrambler site linked a few posts above (thanks for the link). Maybe it is just a silly name.

Lol, it's gotta be this one:

A Candid Funny Moth Spy

EDIT: On a more serious note, if anyone wants to take the time, if you simply remove IPT from 'champion dynasty fund', it will give results that sort of include it, haha. Also, you can make 'nanny' from these words. If you leave the ipt in, it can't make any real anagrams, but if you take out IPT it finds a few. I looked at all of the ones with nanny in them when IPT was removed and none of them seemed to mean anything.

This may be a stretch, but the phrase about the trees loosing their leaves keeps popping up, just as the "surely you know what I'm referring to..." Perhaps we are missing something there. Maybe in regards to the triumvirate....
