[Game] The Analog Resistance
In Boston, NYC, San Fran, LA, or Chicago. Need an iPhone and $10.

From urbansleuth.net for the launch of their iPhone app "Urban Sleuth", specifically created for ARGs and treasure hunting experiences.

Do you live in Boston, NYC, San Fran, LA, or Chicago? Play our first nationwide alternate reality game, The Analog Resistance, running February 28th to April 1.

Plot: Who controls our world? Where do the levers of power reside? A secretive outfit - the Ocka Wocka Wocka Foundation - has the answer. Or so they say. Derided by the public as a bunch of conspiracy-theory nuts (or, in polite company, "mental non-traditionalists"), no one takes them seriously. But perhaps they have stumbled onto the truth this time?

Given their "perception problems" (as they put it), The Foundation is hiring an independent detective to provide evidence for their claims before going public. That's where you come in. Unfortunately, they are not providing much information about their theory yet... just a code name: The Analog Resistance. Will it be a wild goose chase, or an explosive secret that shakes the foundations of our civilization? (I'd bring my goose bag if I were you.)

What To Expect: The Analog Resistance is an alternate reality adventure that takes place in the real world. Many of the puzzles can be completed in the comfort of your own home, or anywhere that your iPhone has an Internet connection. But some of the activities and challenges will require you to go to a "real" location, to meet a hidden improv actor, interact with a local merchant, find a hidden item, or perform a flash mob activity with other players. You'll receive the first set of puzzles on January 31st. These won't require you to go anywhere. When a mission asks you to go to a location, you'll receive a few days advance notice (and a Plan B if you happen to miss it.)

Cost: $9.95

How to Register: You will need to have an iPhone or an iPod Touch with Urban Interactive's "Urban Sleuth" software loaded. You will receive directions on how to register on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

There's also a posting on Craigslist if anyone is interested on being on the other side of the curtain: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/wrg/1005798135.html

In March, we're launching an alternate reality game – the Analog Resistance – in NYC, Boston, San Fran, LA, and Chicago. It's a satire of intellectual property controversies, where players investigate a secret society attempting to stop technological progress in order to protect their outdated business models.

The site says the game will take place from February 28th to April 1. But the listing says it will take place in March. Anyone who wants to participate, might want to contact the company and find out what the real set of dates might be.
