Endemic

http://endemic.org.au/
Okay, now, I bookmarked this *ages* ago (and promptly forgot all about it), but cannot remember where I first heard of it or why I kept it. All I am sure of is that what is there now is *not* what was there when I bookmarked it.
Something could be starting. I sent a quick note to the (partial, requiring editting) email address it gives but wasn't sure what to say. "Truth" and "beauty" seem important somehow, but I can't figure out in what way.
Oh well, any other thoughts, anyone? I really hope this *is* an ARG, because it'll be nice to have a *real* Australian-made one (buy my book-AARRRGHHHHH!!!!).

It's changed.

New front pic attached, still no response to initial email although no bounce-back due to wrong address either...

And look in the source. Hidden directory with other directories, containing a *very* confusing array of imagery. Some apparent commercial advertising shots, some abstract fractal art, and a deformed baby.

Crank up the weirdness factor gang, this puppy's just coming to the boil! (or some such...)

endemic

I don't know, it just looks like some guy who's in love with his own art to me. I couldn't even finish getting through the index.

i checked out some of the sites that link to endemic (found via alexa). leads me to suspect that endemic is a design co. rather than the beginnings of a game.

Really? Dang.
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

But why are they being so weird with their front page then?

Speaking of which, it's changed again.

Bit weird for a graphic design site to do so much of this kind of thing.

Call me the dog that won't let go of the bone, but I'm going to stay watching this one for a while yet.

UPDATE

It's changed again.

The link to the /en/ directory, previously only found in the source code, is now clickable on the main page.
Also note that the page title is "enorgau.dertion". There is a /dertion/ directory in /en/ now. It conatins a single file, a 1.2M jpeg called "23363_3002.jpg" which I am downloading as we speak.
The /en/ directory also contains two other subdirectories, /random/ and /snaps/ but one is empty and the other contains an overexposed photograph of a teddy bear, titled "0.jpg"

Ok, I know this still isn't enough to constitute an ARG, but you have to agree that it *is* weird. And it's piqued my curiosity enough that I want to find out what the heck it really *is*!

(10 minutes later)
Okay, "23363_3002.jpg" is in.
It is a black & white sketch of a flower, planted in a small pot and positioned near a wall. Several fruit-bearing branches lean in from either side. I have no idea why the file is so large though, because when I open it in MSPaint and immediately re-save it (changing nothing) it is only a 165K file. This could mean there is something "stegged" in it. Anyone know how to extract it?

I think MS Paint must scale down image quality. Opening it in Photoshop and saving it at 100% quality and the same dimensions keeps the image the same size.

 clarification

Hello all; soz to bump this topic from the archive but I found this forum through a recent goog alert relating to one of my old sites, endemic Razz

Just to clarify, endemic wasn't an ARG. Just a place where I kept random design work and experimental stuff.

And if I recall correctly, 23363_3002.jpg was simply a piece I was touching up, (explaining the hi-res nature).

Sorry to disappoint Crying or Very sad

Awww, I remember when I first found that site, how intrigued I was and how exciting it seemed, that maybe I had discovered a rabbithole at last.
Oh well, thanks for the clarification, anyway!
