I just got my brand new Revomaze Blue this morning it and it would appear to be faulty out of the box. Having watched a video of Chris Pitt opening the blue in about a minute I can pull the core out and read the serial number in less than 3 seconds. Doesn't come all the way out of the sleeve just enough to read the serial/code number. I don't have to do ANY lenghty pulling, twisting and pushing it practically pulls out without any effort whatsoever.

I don't have much luck with new puzzles, my Isis I was faulty too (read my other posts about that). Guess I'll have to send this back for refund, I'm not paying repair costs for something that is already knackered.

To back up my claim of it being faulty I'm going to video myself opening it in about 2 seconds to YouTube.

Woah there - you need to go and read the instructions - yours is NOT faulty.

What has happened is you've fallen into a trap (you'll hear a click and the shaft will become very loose). You need to push it back and start from the beginning. The number on the side of the shaft is in fact the serial number of your puzzle. You will need to send an email containing your name, number AND the number you are currently seeing to register it. There are 3 parts to the ReVoMaze - the sleeve (the blue bit), the shaft (the silver bit you twist) and the core. Inside the two silver parts contains your certificate and the unique number. You can ONLY get to this by successfully opening your ReVoMaze.

Yours isn't broken my friend Very Happy

Regards,

ReVoMate

Oh, I see. I was convinced it was busted because the shaft comes half way out which is what I thought you were supposed to do, then the rest. I didn't realise it was a trap. So how do I know when I've got the "open point"? Or is that a secret Wink

how you can tell if your at the end

Hey mate,

Its easy. If you examine the sleeve of your maze you will see a small dot much like a dot left by a punch tool. The shaft also has a similar dot. When these two dots line up you have solved your puzzle.

I would reccomend that you come across to the revomaze forum and sign up as we have quite an active community there.

My first few moves took me a loong time to figure out but once you get into it i dare you to put it down for more than a few hours Smile

regards,

Ymir

for all those who buy a Revomaze, first of all, read the instruction booklet. its short and may shed a little light on the up coming adventure. Furthermore, when you get your puzzle you are to register it via email. This is also stated in the instruction booklet. once registared, you will recieve an email giving specific details and pictures showing how to determine the puzzle is solved and how to dissassemble/reassemble it.

Increadible Puzzle!
RevoMaze Silver

The Silvers have been out since Thanksgiving and giving everyone a run for their money. If you've ever thought about getting a RevoMaze and decided to wait until they got challenging, this is your moment. I tell you from experience and from the mouths of others, these are seriously ingenious puzzles. You gotta try one!

Well, I haven't really been around since Last Call Poker wrapped up, but of course, when it comes to intriguing things, good old google brought me home in a hurry Smile

So, funny story. I was just browsing through my thinkgeek holiday buys email and noticed the Kuku puzzle from SW. I had seen the Isis before and was always intrigued by it, but after doing some research and being informed of the faults people were experiencing with their products, I began looking for an alternative. That's when I noticed most of these posts suggested the Revomaze, a name I had heard back during it's pre-release hype.

Anyways, after reading through this thread, I think I'm pretty much hooked Razz I had noticed that socalsteve said he bought his as a set. I didn't see this option on the website, do I have to call customer service to do this specially, or is this no longer an option? Also, if/when buying as a set, do you pay in full and they simply ship them as they come out? (I realize that only gold has yet to be released at this point). One last question on this note, if I didn't want to go all in right away ($141.77 USD for blue w/cheapest shipping, yikes!), could I purchase a blue/green and then later decide to purchase a set and receive the rest with matching serials?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Another question! The stands, I see on the order page it says "please order separately!" but see no place to do so Sad Also, what is the cost of the stand? I looked around for some 3rd party retailers, and found the puzzles itself for $120, and the puzzle with stand for $140. But nothing on the main site :/

...some answers.....?

Hi Xestrix and welcome to the madness of Revomazes...

I suspect that that all the good stuff has already been said about them...so I won't chime in with another gushing review (but they are brilliant - usual disclaimer: not connected, just addicted! Confused ).

I suspect that most folks who signed up for the sets initially used a special link on the web-site...I missed that one (came to the party a little late) so after I'd bought a blue one and decided I needed to get the rest, I dropped an email to Chris and asked if I could sign up for a series ... and he kindly reserved the rest of that set for me - I paid for the balance at that stage - and he's been shipping me the puzzles since then as soon as they come out ... I don't think I got any special treatment - he just seems to go out of his way to keep customers happy - so if you do want a set (or want to try one or two before committing...), drop him an email... Smile

The stands: if you go to the Revomaze website, there's a page with all their stuff on one page (http://www.revomaze.co.uk/store-2.htm) that has a link to the stands...

Try one... start with a blue, then work your way up...

cheers

allard
[Solved Blue, Green and limited edition Black... been struggling with Bronze for ages and have a silver staring at me on my desk... Twisted Evil ]

(You could always have a go at the plastic ones that'll be around soon - same mazes inside, but they don't look quite as nice as the steel / aluminium ones...)

Thanks for the reply, it was helpful!

So, I've gone ahead and ordered a Blue from Thinkgeek! (I would have ordered directly, but the US-to-US shipping was faster [3-day], and I wanted it for the holidays).

Even better news is that I contacted Chris, and if I'm lucky enough to receive a Blue that hasn't had its counterparts created yet, he'll reserve the rest of the set for me! The best of both worlds if it works out! Very Happy (Get it for the holidays, still be able to collect a set potentially)

It should be coming in Friday, I'll post back with my experience once it comes in!

so what can I say other than holy crap I want one of these things more than anything. The price is scaring me though..

My question is, if I was only allowed one, which should it be? I feel like I would want the hardest one if I could only have one due to the fact of the price for me is a bit much.

any opinions? I can afford one this coming week, but which one.

which ONE?

@streetz

...first off, there won't be one answer that everyone agrees on...some jump in at the (VERY) deep end end with a Bronze, or even silver and possibly wouldn't have it any other way... I started at the bottom and worked up to where I am now (Blue, Green and a limited edition Black opened to date...still trying to open my bronze while my silver is lying in its box staring it me from my desk!) - and I wouldn't have it any other way too...

Each one does teach you stuff that's useful in the next one...diving in on one of the last ones (Bronze or silver) will certainly be a gargantuan challenge...

...if money is the decider, then maybe consider the plastic ones that Chris is putting the final touches to - have a look at his web-site - think they're called Revomaze Extremes - AFAIK the mazes themselves will be the same as the metal versions (blue, green and black), except they're made in plastic so significantly lighter and a lot cheaper - then for more of less the same price you can get a few of them!

...the right answer is, whatever works for you...

cheers

allard
(sorry to be quite that firmly perched on the fence, but I think that's the most honest answer!)

thanks for the answer!

I was looking at the plastic ones as well, my only problem is the price. It ends up being like 50 for me to get one plastic one shipped. Unless someone other than the actual site has them.

For me thinkgeek is the only place with the metal ones that I found in the states, if anyone can point out another place without insane shipping let me know.

I definitely want one whether its plastic or metal. But I think if im going to have to order the plastic from the actual site I should order 2 since im paying for the shipping.
