hey so quick question... there's speculationi this may be an ARG related to an upcoming Donnie Darko sequel... is there any indication this is official or a fan-made campaign?

And while you are answering that...

Is there a way one can participate in this campaign if they have never seen Donnie Darko?

I know...I know...I'm getting it from Netflix soon...

You don't need to have seen donnie darko. BUT I'd at least read the wikipedia on it. Also read the stuff at ruinedeye.com.

No. It's a supplementary site someone wrote for the movie. Like this is WAY important.

Heh, MrToasty is always beating us to the puzzles...

I'm thinking if we can find the book or whatever the quote was first said and enter that after http://wirebcze.50webs.com...

Dregyn gets full credit for the solution, I just cleaned it up a bit Wink

The quote seems to be from "A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers," particularly from the end of Wednesday if that makes any difference.

Not sure if it means anything, but the last post on Adam's blog before everything got all coded and weird was on a Wednesday.

It was also during Donnie's dreams that he saw and was instructed by Frank. I wonder if Franklin paid Adam a visit on Wednesday in his dreams and that's why things have went wonky...Maybe Adam is trying to fix his tangent universe like Donnie but is having similar difficulties.

Although, if this is the case, there isn't really anything we could do to help besides sit back and watch...

Also important to remember that franklin is a hunk of metal. We've yet to meet any manipulated dead.

True, you make a good point, Franklin couldn't be Adam's "Frank". Has anyone asked Adam if he's had any strange dreams?

Seems we may just have a puzzle trail..

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The meta tags in emerson.html lead you to http://wirebcze.50webs.com/archive_one/.

Interesting.

Now that's a cool puzzle...Trying to pitch in, I'll see if I can come up with anything...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you back out of the url to :http://wirebcze.50webs.com/ you get an interesting page with some hidden text at the bottom

"Chapter One The Tangent Universe" is from the book "THE PHILOSOPHY OF TIME TRAVEL
by Roberta Sparrow"

Son of a ...

I tried
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://wirebcze.50webs.com/archive_one.html
yesterday, which doesn't work. So close! Then, I sat down and figured out what the scrambled words meant all by myself ... and then saw MrToasty had already gotten it. Not my day ... Sad

Working off of the pattern we have, I just tried
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://wirebcze.50webs.com/thoreau.html and http://wirebcze.50webs.com/thoreau/, neither of which work.
So, we have a new pattern to figure out, I guess.

I tried emailing him yesterday, and immediately got the same autoresponse message that others have gotten.

So the only hint we have for the archive is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
even in the /archive, one/ may find new words --->

So, what can we make from these words?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

awake
eams
eare
eisw
henw
indr
ourt
rues
tlif

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

indreams [indr + eams]
awake
[e]is when we are [[eisw + henw + eare]
our trues [ourt + rues]

With these, I came up with OUR TRUEST LIFE IS WHEN WE ARE IN DREAMS AWAKE.

Or Ourt rues tlife eisw henw eare awake indr eams.

This is from Thoreau, http://quotationsbook.com/quote/11530/

Sorry if this is Trout. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen this as of yet.

EDIT: Just saw that someone else got it, according to the post above me. But I can't find where. D=

EDIT: Fixed the solution.

I didn't think these were just empty text files in the database, so I started trying some file extensions to see if maybe I'd get a hit.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I started with .wav, .mov, .mpeg, .avi, nothing, but .mp3 works. So the list comes to:

awake.mp3
eams.mp3
eare.mp3
eisw.mp3
henw.mp3
indr.mp3
ourt.mp3
rues.mp3
tlif.mp3

You sir, are a genius,

Using Audacity, I put all the pieces together. It's pretty hard to tell what's he's saying. I'm going to double check to make sure I didn't mess up, see if i can't lower the ambient sounds, and upload it somewhere.

EDIT:
It sounds like the only thing spoken in the files is "I'm just a kid."

Working on getting it uploaded.
