Blackmail?
Why is Amelie (a student) getting paid

Quote:
from James Horowitz <jameshorowitz>
Eruditio hardly needs another photographer. I swear if Kellee hires you we'll go bankrupt, we already have two AND Amelie, who is paid best of all for some reason!

Listen, don't even bother.

Anyone else think that Amelie might know something incriminating about one of the EPS staff and is blackmailing them for money, favors, and scholarships?

I replied to James. iPhone doesn't have cut and paste so I'll have to post that reply later today.

It does seem odd that Amelie is the best paid photographer, but I think it is a little early to start drawing conclusions as to why she is. I think a little more info is needed before we can start connecting dots. (Mainly a second or third dot so far as I can tell we only have one dot right now.)

Just a theory. Not a conclusion.

Response to James

Quote:
Mr. Horowitz,
I don't think that my email warranted such a harsh response considering it was your staff who made the mistake of sending that newsletter to me in the first place.

To address your "bankrupt" concerns, I wasn't inquiring about a full time position at EPS. I was offering to work on an infrequent basis to help your current photographers cover major events at the school. I've done this type of work for other private schools who, on occasion even make a little money selling prints to parents.

I hope that clarifies things for you Mr. Horowitz, however it seems that the final decision is Ms. Zapuda's and she seems very open to the idea.

I'd like to find out where this school is located...

Your not the only one that went there pretty much right away. Don't worry Wink
Thanks Nos ~whew~

Hopefully this isn't trout... These are probably OOG, but here's what Yahoo search turned up:
http://eruditio.asu.edu/news/ or http://eruditio.asu.edu/ (if any are In Game, this would be it?)
There is a book called Eruditio (http://www.cobblestonepub.com/book/ASK0709.html)

ACK - here's a link that makes me sweat: "Thank you for subscribing to the Eruditio Private School's Newsletter! at http://zip.4chan.org/x/1.html

MySpace, Twitter, Wordpress and YahooGroups turn up nothing for the school... Yet.

more googling

I also found the 4chan link when googling parts of the original newsletter but dismissed it as being OOG when I couldn't actually find the text on the page. Then I thought that the text of the newsletter had been on that page when google indexed it and it was later deleted. So I tried the Wayback Machine to see if there was a cached version that included info on the Eruditio school - no luck there since the 4chan site has a robot.txt file that blocks archiving by the wayback machine.

Then I decided to search each part of the original newsletter to see if I could recreate the entire text by reading the handy little quotes that google gives you after each link. I was able to recreate the entire text with the addition of one sentence that wasn't in the newsletter - shown below.

Not much of a discovery - potentially a first draft that somehow got out into the wild by mistake. [shrug]

Here's the reply I sent to the original email;

I believe I may have gotten added on to this mailing list by mistake. I am not a student at Eruditio Private School nor do I

have any children that attend Eruditio. I would be interested to know how you got this email address though.......

And here is what I got back;

We're thinking some of our fellow students are pranking you and us. Our principal is looking into it though!

The reply falls in line with what other people have gotten so there wasn't much to go on there. There was one other thing in the email though, a signature of sorts. Religio, Eruditio, Disciplina

I ran that through a translator and here's what I got;

Religio - fear of God, way of life, nuns

Eruduitio - instruction, teaching, knowledge, learning

Disciplina - teaching

I think that Religio, at least in this instance, means "way of life", Eruditio is either knowledge or learning & Disciplina is teaching. Another way this could be interpreted is Religio - way of life, Eruditio - teaching & Disciplina - discipline. Personally I favor the former of the two but that's just me.

The original email shows up as being from "News Team". It was sent to myself and 4 other people;

Kellee Zapuda - kellezapuda.epsSPLATgmail.com
Janny (who is apparently awesome) - awesomejannySPLATgmail.com
James Horowitz - jameshorowitz.epsSPLATgmail.com
Evan Fall - evanfallreportsSPLATgmail.com

Both Kellee & James have .eps after their names so that (as well as emails that have since been posted) made me think that they both worked at Eruditio.

I decided to send an email to the 4 other people on this list asking them what they thought of the school newsletter. Here are the replies I got.

I think it's idiotic and has no point. But no one cares about a lowly teacher's opinion. - James Horowitz

I think it's super cool! I wish I could work on it, but I can't be on the news team until I'm a junior! Sad Hey, who are you? Are you a parent or something! I'm Janny Horowitz, the head cheerleader! - Janny Horowitz

It's great! I'm so excited about it, and I hope it stays in publication for the duration of our school's existence! - Kellee Zapuda

And here is Kellee's eamil sig;

Kellee Zapuda
Principal at Erudito Private School
kelleezapuda.epsSPLATgmail.com
(Eruditio et Disciplina)

So, Kellee is the principal at Eruditio, James is a teacher (a somewhat disgruntled one at that it seems) & apparently Janny is his daughter. I haven't gotten any kind of a reply from Evan yet (if in fact that is even a correct guess as to the person's name) but if/when I do I'll post it as well. Same with any continuing correspondence with the three who did reply.

Searching isn't helping much

Nice work LeHomme! The other names are good to have.

you can be head cheerleader and not yet a junior, but not on the news team?

Eruditio et Disciplina turns up in a ton of searches, but only in two if I put it in quotes. Both are PDF files, that appear to have nothing to do with this. One is a winery and one is a school, but they seem to be in Mexico/Spain. With the idiom that these students and teh staff are using, I doubt English is their second language. They are all sounding like California Valley residents. LOL[/strike]

Also got this and felt like replying...

Quote:
Hi,

I was just wondering whether or not chaperones would be needed for the dance? If so, I'd like to apply.

Thank you very much,

-Leyton D. Stone (Elder brother of one of your students).

Also sent an email to Evan.

Quote:
Hey so... I was wondering about chaperoning to this school dance, but what're the odds of something creepy going on with this whole 'murder' situation??

I also received the newsletter and responded as a newlywed looking for schools for future children (ummm, before I realized it was a 10-12 grade school only). I received the following:
Quote:
We are in Evanfall, a small town in Washington State. We have 300 students, grades 10-12. Uh, if you want to know more, you can email Kellee, our principal. She's great! Her email is kelleezapuda.epsSPLATgmail.com
I have emailed Kellee, and I will let you know if she provides me with any pertinent information.

Ahhhhh, so that explains the evanfallreports email address. Not a person; a place.

Had nothing back yet, so sent an email to Kelee.

Quote:
Hi there!

My name's Leyton, my family and I have just moved to Evan Fall and my younger brother's going to the school; I just wondered if I could ask a question or two?

Like, what is MiTech? We've never heard of them at least not where we're originally from... And what are these murders that this school newsletter's talking about? Kinda creepy weird no?

I know someone who lives in Washington State, if that turns out to be important at all. I'm sure she really wants to be spending her free time chasing things for us. Wink

I emailed claiming to be a concerned parent worried about my little darlings' safety attending a dance in this murderer-filled climate. No reply as of yet.

Just for the record, I received the first newsletter also and I sent the following e-mail:

Quote:

Thank you so much for the newsletter. I was happy to received it, but I do have some questions. As you stated: "Due to the current danger of the serial murderer in our town, the dance will be right after school, 5 PM to 9 PM. Please be in your houses before 10!"...

I am concerned about the safety of the students. Could you please inform us if there will be any kind of security provided during the dance? Since there will be so many people coming in and out at various times their safety should be the top priority.
Also, let me know if there is anything I can do to help in some way. I would be more than happy to assist with whatever may be needed.
Thanks again for the newsletter. And please let us know when/if a school website becomes available.
Also, keep us posted on the latest news about the killer!

Thanks so much and have a great day!

I got this reply:
Quote:

from News Team eruditio.privateschoolSPLATgmail.com
Our principal said she has the local police sending 4 men to watch us at the dance.

We already have enough parent chaperones, too, but you're free to show up, or you can send your kid with some beverages or snacks!

Hey, who's your kid, anyway? I don't know any of the sophomores, but I know the juniors and seniors pretty well!
