Google Wave Unforum test wave Starting a wave for Super 8 I figured it would also be worth having a general test wave to play around with, to see how they might be used in the forum, which bots are useful etc.
Google Wave: Link
First issue I've come across is that the wave has to be public in order to be readable on the forum, but as it's publicly searchable within wave itself and then editable by anyone at all - we need to make acceptance of Unforum TOS part of the wave?

I don't know how we could really enforce that but you can set the "public/everyone" user to read-only (click the userpic, there's an access level dropdown). Then you would have to manually add editing participants, though.
I think you can also allow multiple user access through Google Groups. Think we should set up a group for uF?

That might be the easiest way to manage things if they get used, initially do you want to try open to make it easier to participate. Could always change the settings later if they become problematic?
I've made that Wave links wave open now - it's a little old and needs updating, but there was a useful inital flurry of actvity.

The blog lists lack of "User adoption" as the cause.
Last I heard, it was by invite, only and nobody ever invited me.
If lots of other folks had that (apparently, incorrect) idea, then...
As Jamie says, "Well, there's your problem!"

They made it open to anyone around the time we added the embed option to the forums. Doesn't seem like it took that long for them to decide it was dead.

I think they opened it up in a last ditch hope that it would grow usage enough to justify its survival. As we see, it did not.

Oh no!
I just recently used Google Wave while PMing for Aguatero Industries and really loved it! It created great in-game interaction!
This is too bad.

When it went free I tried to use it several times for some collaboration on projects... but it was way too glitchy and awkward... didn't use it after that.
Wanted to experiment with it in a game though. Thought there could have been several uses... o well..
