I believe i have found another hint. Just to the left of Metzlers front door there is a table with a lamp on it. Under that lamp (the lamp is always off) there is a piece of paper with "What would you do with a drunken sailor" music on it!

I don't recall this being here yesterday, and i checked and noone else has found this yet apparently.

( if this has already been found i will delete this post)

Yeah, that musical sheet was used on the jewelry box to open the metal box...I think it's been used all it can...

White Knight!

So, I was thinking about Alice in Wonderland, and guess what? THERE IS A WHITE KNIGHT! I just can't for the life of me remember his question. I'm going to look it up ASAP!

White Knight / alice

Well, I should probably re-read Alice in wonderland with all of these references.....

Ok, from what I recall, the white knight is a bumbling fool, and the first question he asks in Through the Looking Glass is to the Red Knight, "You will observe the Rules of Battle, of course?" Good chance this is the one.....

Check out the full text at http://www.sabian.org/Alice/lgchap08.htm

I didn't remember the Knight's Box.....going to mull that one over.

Next: "It was a glorious victory, wasn't it?" (eh)
Next: "What's the dish for?" (eh.)
Next: "What makes you say that?" (eh. Not too interesting)
`Does that kind go smoothly?'
`Well, just then I was inventing a new way of getting over a gate -- would you like to hear it?'
`What does it matter where my body happens to be?
"down the hill and over that little brook, and then you'll be a Queen--But you'll stay and see me off first?"

......Next she makes it to the "Eighth Square" - last row of the chessboard where she becomes a queen....coincidence? I think not....

Ok....time to start crunching people.

I reread that whole chapter 8, and typed in every answer I could. maybe it's referring to a more theological question. like the fact that his character's balance resembled someone with a brain tumor? idk. Ooooh, this'll be challenging. (I cha cha'd the questino and they got pissed off because it was too difficult to answer)

Yep. Just finished that too. I wonder if it has more to do with Alice wanting to be a queen. But, I'm sure we'll have a new clue to come along and help us out......

these are all the questions from the white knight and the answers i got from the link on Bartowski's post

1.You will observe the Rules of Battle, of course?'
A: I always do

2.It was a glorious victory, wasn't it?
A: I don't know

3.Can you guess why I did that?
A: In hopes some bees may make a nest in it -- then I should get the honey

4.What's that dish for?
A:It's meant for plum-cake

5.I hope you've got your hair well fastened on
A:Only in the usual way

6.What makes you say that?
A:Because people don't fall off quite so often, when they've had much practice

7.Does that kind go smoothly?
A:Much more smoothly than a live horse

8.Now, I daresay you noticed, the last time you picked me up, that I was looking rather thoughtful?
A:You were a little grave

9.Well, just then I was inventing a new way of getting over a gate -- would you like to hear it?
A:Very much indeed

10.What does it matter where my body happens to be?
AConfused

Then theres this really long poem/song. i think it has some significance but im not sure. perhaps someone with more nohow should tackle this one

but that'll be in like 10 days. they still have to leave the clue for the last puzzle, too. Razz

Edit: just looked at an ask.com about alice in wonderland, the first book, and it says something about him being mournful and not able to put humpty dumpty together again?

Edit#2: turns out that was the play/musical thing. I'm not sure that he was in the first book, after all. But, I didn't notice that poem thing in the book. Just the musical.

Here's what Lutwidge says in the latest puzzle:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Seeker, you have fathomed the depths of the secret. You know now what wonders await in Rapture, both within and without. But if it remains beyond your reach despair not, for the Red Queen's race has nearly run it's course. Keep the faith, and you shall embark upon the White Knight's journey. The Knight's question must be answered - only then will the Seven-Fold Lock at last unfold. It's lights will lead you through the wreckage and prepare you for your last descent. This is Orrin Oscar Lutwidge, one other laboring upon the waves to Rapture.

Thanks a TON for that - I didn'.t want to have to go back and do both puzzles all over again!!

Good catch on the Carroll bio - could be something there for sure!! And the Knight's Journey (at least in chapter eight) was to the "end of the wood" and that was the end of his move (3 up one over - chess again, of course).

This book was published in 1952, so it is conceivable that it is a work present int OOL and Mark's time in the overall ARG. Great find, regardless if it takes us to the next step!!

Why thank you , my good man! It seems the disney movie Alice in Wonderland was also made in 1952. Even the good ol' cartoon is available in our timeframe. Unfortunately, i can't stand to watch that much madness. Or i too will go mad. Although, the cat does say "all of us are mad, here". guess he was referring to ARGers. lol
