EDIT: It may be rather unhelpful but I have the coordinates for Rapture as said in the first game (Bioshock 1), It's written on piece of paper during the would you kindly speech, it's blurred but it looks like
63° 2° N
29° 55° W
But then does that mean we're missing East and South barings? Or does it not work that way?

No, the coordinates refer to the locations position North of the equator and West of the Prime Meridian. Unfortunately, I've tried typing these coordinates and the coordinates of the Frozen triangle mentioned in a previous update, but neither was the password. I do believe you're on the right track and that coordinates will play into the answer somehow.

Yeah, lso, Ludwidge must of had a boat if he expected to get to Rapture, does anyone know the boat's name?
Edit: I've been trying to figure out the relevance of the contents of the lunchbox, so far it's not been relevant to any of the puzzles that I know of and there hasn't really been anything in any documents on the website about it so it must be relevant to something else, something we haven't seen yet.
Anyway inside it is a paper cut out thing of four little sisters with their Adam extracting needle things, it's not all that new or relevant to whats going on with Mark and his investigations part from the fact that it's prety certain that his daughter has been turned into a little sister.
Second is that note that seems to just be to help people with their decoding skills and to creep us the users out further.
Third is the splicer mask, which only really means one thing, the person who sent this box (Theoretically Oscar Lutwidge) has been to Rapture, I mean it's possible that it was sent to rapture, but what I wnbted to look at was what part of Rapture is it from? Because as far as I could see when I played the first game, the masks tht the splicers wore changed depending on where you were in Rapture, like, they all wore rabbit masks in Sandre Coen's theatre. nyway, the point is, it might turn out to be futile but maybe, if we find out where the msk is from, we can find out who O.O.L. really is, as in in the Bioshock universe.
Finally, the really interesting thing is the picture on the end, it looks like a big sister with a little sister (Who theoretically could be Mark's daughter), but the big thing is the person that she happears to have killed with what looks like a harpoon, it's a woman, and since we haven't herd nything about women being killed in connection with any of the dissppearances, I think this woman could be Tenenbaum, but we know she's in the second game... or is she, this is probably just me being paranoid but what if the Tenenbaum that you talk to in the Bioshock 2 demo isn't actually Tenembaum? Like when Atlas turned out to be Fontaine. I don't know who it could be really but if I'm right it certainly be a good twist.

i really don't want to have to do this, but i feel, on a personal level, that this is the correct thing to do.

although there is significance behind them, it's not likely to be anything else other than the obvious; the big sister leaves it in his room as a nice little present, his daughters belongings and scraps. included: a mask, paper cutout, drawding, and note, each of which were observed and made note of.

there's my 1/50th of a dollar

LOL, well at least I got us onto the 85th page with my long but pointless explanation for something that didn't need explaining, and that's something. I liked the wy you just quoted it as: "words"

The cupcake did make me feel a bit misty-eyed, I must admit.

An inconvenient truth, if you will? Very Happy
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Edit: Also, I think the recording's been there for a little while.

I was just checking the Cult of Rapture site to see if they had anything to verify the release date of BS2, when I saw this:

BTW, that's when the Penny Arcade eXpo is going on...
So anyone going to PAX, please keep us updated!

PAX has sold out Friday, Saturday and three day passes. If anyone was thinking of attending, all they have left are Sunday passes and those will likely be sold out soon as well.

I was thinking that too, but I didn't want to sound like Al Gore. (MAN BEAR PIG!)

There have been three recordings for a while now? that's new to me. maybe I just totally forgot about it.

Hey, first time poster, long time follower. After reading "The Man From Uropolis", I think Quain may be Jack Ryan (the protagonist from Bioshock 1). There's a few reasons I've come up with to explain why Quain looks so strange and beat up.

1. Jack ages faster. He became a full adult in 2 years. (I admit that this one is a bit of a stretch since Bioshock and Lex Harlan meeting RKQ both take place in 1960)
2. Adam causes DNA deterioration which leads to mutation and addiction. Which explains why Jack would look different and why he stares at Harlan.
3. Harlan describes Quain as someone who's seen too much and someone who's been through a lot.

Well, not too long... Maybe 2-3 days, max? The third recording was definitely added after the first two, though...

Full text of the letter:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dear Mark:

I can no longer lie to you. Please know that my untruths were intended for your own protection. Lutwidge is alive - or he was, at least, sometime in 1960. How do I know? I have seen him - with my own eyes.

After the games that Lutwidge played - I lived in fear. I squan[-]dered much of my father's wealth in a vain attempt to protect myself. I kept on retainer private investigators in New York City - to watch for Lutwidge or any of his schemes. One night - they telegraphed me. There was activity in one of Lutwidge's laboratories. The lights had gone on. And they believed it was him - but they could not be sure. He looked somehow - different.

I took the next flight from Paris to New York and made my inves[-]tigators show me the spot. I peered through the grimy window to see Lutwidge - hunched over a typewriter - naked - hammering the keys with inhuman focus - pages churning out in a growing stack. And I glimpsed his face - distorted - uneven - sleepless -- as if the seed of madness in his mind had taken root within the flesh.

Outside the window, we were silent; this I know. But for one brief moment, he turned from his work - his eyes piercing in my direction -- as if he sensed me. I reeled back. I have never run so fast since I was a girl. I ran all the way back to Paris - terri[-]fied even to read the reports from my investigators... They told me that Lutwidge, or whatever he called himself, had been com[-]mitted to an asylum. I begged my men to pay the necessary bribes - so Lutwidge would never get out.

Do not ask me the particulars. I burned the papers - and wiped it all from my memory. All except that inhuman glare.

Do not look for him, Mark. Whatever he found - you do not wish to follow.

Yours, in the spirit of Truth,
Celeste Roget

Followed my my own conjecture:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So... Lutwidge: is RKQ, has been to Rapture, has possibly become a Splicer (or maybe not), types naked (eeew), and could possibly still be alive?
Also, does anyone else find Celeste's use of dashes questionable? There ware a LOT of dashes in her letter - more than I would think necessary. It might just show how terrified she was, but I'm wondering if there's supposed to be something hidden in there? Also, the dashes with brackets around them [-] are ones that I believe to be in the letter due to Celeste reaching the end of the line, but if there's something hidden in the letter, I don't want us to miss it just b/c I was too lazy to put in a few dashes.

Man, that was a long post. I hope it comes in handy though...

Also, there's a LOT of stuff spread around Mark's room right now. It's almost like it's time for a sort'n'file update, but with no more labeled folders in the filing cabinet, where would the items go?

Or IS there going to be another sort'n'file? If we're approaching the end of the red queen's race... :\

Also, in case there's anyone else who doesn't feel like counting out blocks to spell your guess, here's a _very_ large I-Did-It-In-MS-Paint key of sorts.

Off on a tangent: Is Mark

Lutwidge?

I have been comparing the handwriting and it may be the designer of the letters is just one person, but the L's, O's and R's, which are prominent throught the letters, are very similar.
